  1. I'd try it if it were on a plate, but I'll have to be a lot thinner than I am now before I prepare one myself. I think a lot of dogs.
  2. Is the S.O.B. gearing up to run for elected office or what? I saw him on the 6pm news as well.
  3. My wife seems to have that feeling on a regular basis. Not me! I don't have near enough knives. Same for guns.
  4. You've a very valuable piece. Get it lettered, and do not alter it nor try to shoot it. Congratulations.
  5. That is indeed a model O, or 1873 Colt; not an 1871. Are there the letters "SA" in the serial number? Are they at the beginning, end, or is there an "S" at the beginning, and an "A" at the end? Looks like a nice, honest piece from the pics. The value will be in the four digits anyway; maybe five. Assuming it doesn't have letters, the serial number dates to 1880, which is a black powder frame I do believe. Until you have it looked at by a knowlegeable gunsmith, DO NOT SHOOT MODERN AMMUNITION IN IT!!! I'd advise against it afterward as well.
  6. I do not believe that a hollow point is necessarially better than ball ammo. I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree. I would be interested in seeing evidence to disprove my thinking, however.
  7. It is more expensive, but how is it better? Especially if it won't reliably function in one's gun.
  8. They are a fun gun for the money. Grab it!
  9. FMJ ammo was what the 1911 was designed to shoot. I see no reason to change that.
  10. I have a 32, but not a 380. They are nice pistols, but I prefer 51 Remington.
  11. I believe a wadcutter would make a fine self defense round. Elmer Keith sure liked a big flat nose on a bullet, and he had a lot of practical experience while testing different bullet designs. I'm a big advocate of "carry what you shoot".
  12. Do the jerky people, knife sharpners, crap hander outers, gutter salesmen, camo folks, fake jewelry hawks, etc., all have FFLs?
  13. Spot on!!! Adam Carolla for President!
  14. Cannelures, as others have stated. I'm not certain if they are present for decoration only, or if they prevent bullet setback. Some cases have them; some don't. Load em up just like the rest.
  15. C'mon!!! Let's see some pics.
  16. Makes sense to me. Thanks for the explanation.
  17. Wouldn't take over a minute to do. Why? If I weren't left handed, I wouldn't care if mine had one or not, but I'm not sure what the benefit would be in removing one already there.

    Best SKS?

While the SKS is a higher quality, better built gun, the AK is more fun to shoot, and just plain sexier.
  19. I have two kids, and I've spent their entire life teaching them the safe handling of firearms. Just something to think about.

    Best SKS?

It's been a while. 20+ years I guess. There were many tables full of the at every gun show. I should have bought several.

    Best SKS?

I've been happy with my Norinco. For $59, new in the box, I've found very few things in life I considered to be a better value.
  22. After reading much malignment of the Century Arms WASR 10-63, and being hardheaded as I am, I purchased one from a fellow member here. After properly installing the trigger so that it would stay in place, I'd have to say the WASR is about as much fun as you can have with your pants on. It is quite accurate, the Tapco trigger isn't too heavy, and it goes bang every time you pull the trigger. The sights are in alignment, and magazines are pretty snug when locked into place. It also looks more like what I picture an AK to be than many versions currently available today. Maybe I just lucked out and got a good one.
  23. Unlike most of the people who have "cleaning accidents", I prefer to unload before cleaning. Short of that, I have very little use for an unloaded gun.
  24. U.S. News - Woman denies injecting patients' buttocks with 'Fix-A-Flat'
  25. Wow! May God bless you and your family in this time of loss.
