Recrowning a barrel is beneficial when cutting one off, or when something has damaged the original crown, such as gravel in the floorboard of your truck scratching it, or dropping the gun on end, etc. A handgun or rifle will not shoot worth a whit without a good, consistant crown. The tool you are looking at isn't a magic wand, however. Recrowning an undamaged barrel shouldn't make much difference.

It seems like the roadside is strewn with them for sale until you're looking for one. There's one on HWY 80, near Defeated Creek in Smith county for $375. It appears to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 8'. I haven't stopped and looked at it, but from the road it looks good. Not sure if you want to drive that far, but it has been there a while, so negotiation is a real possibility.

I don't see any good from the Federal Government becoming involved with yet another aspect of our lives.

I'm wrong a lot, but I believe you made a shrewd purchase. I expect the price of these to go through the roof in the next few years for all the reasons you mentioned. I squirreled away a while back as well.

I haven't changed. I started out this way and just gotten bigger and balder. I've Forrest Gumped my way through life for nearly 40 years now, and I'm not likely to change much in the forseeable future. Not the answer you were looking for, but that's all I've got.

Scrapping CCW laws, and allowing law abiding citizens to freely exercise their 2nd ammendment rights would prevent such errors. As it stands today, a legal scholar who specializes in gun law would have trouble knowing and interpreting all the nuances of carry laws in 50 different states, not to mention staying abreast of the yearly changes in each state. I'm interested to learn whether or not it shoots to the point of aim. If so, I would consider doing the same upgrade to my RIA Commander.

I've found this set to be invaluable, along with an inexpensive set of needle files. A good cleaning kit and a cleaning mat are must haves as well. You can't do much without a Dremel tool either.

Nothing wrong with my RIA! It isn't quite as pretty as my Colt, but shoots just as well, if not a bit better. Mine has a pretty good trigger. It has yet to have a failure to feed. It is a fine handgun. No conplaints whatsoever.

I got a couple of books I wanted, and the DVD set of the History Channel's show, "Tales of the Gun". Also had a great day spent with the family.

My oldest son got a Colt M4-22 today, and I can now give a report of it. It had two stovepipes with the first mag, and no more failures ofter that, with the entire family burning several hundred rounds through it. It is more than accurate enough for plinking, buy I've yet to really test it's accuracy potential. I can recommend one wholeheartedly! I like it because it has a dustcover, forward assist, and other options found on a genuine M4 that are absent some other models. I also like the picture of the pony on the side.

My boys must have been good this year, as Santa filled their wishes. The oldest asked for a Colt M4-22, and the little one wanted a 410 Shotgun. The weather was perfect this afternoon to give them a go. The family dog even chipped in, fetching unbroken clays. Hope you all have a very merry Cristmas as well.
