  1. Legendary Lawman: The Story of Quick Draw Jelly Bryce I just finished this book, and if you have any interest in the infancy of the FBI, it is a very informative read. Mr. Bryce, it seems, was quite a man. I've also been reading some Hemingway. I'm thinking he's a bit overrated, or else I'm just not refined enough to appreciate great literature.
  2. That does sound like a hoot. Wish it was closer.
  3. I avoid gyms like the plague, so I don't have days like that.
  4. You can't go wrong with the Smith.
  5. An LEO shot another LEO? Surely not!
  6. Wow! I doubt there are that many quail left in Macon county where I live. Bird hunting is one of several things I enjoyed as a boy that my children haven't gotten to experience. I'm glad to see that you all did.
  7. Welcome to Tennessee. I've been to Cahokia, and while I enjoyed visiting the indian mounds there, I didn't find the town itsself very inviting. To answer your question, I don't believe a whole lot can be done about the current moral decline of our society. I expect it will fall eventually, and something new will take it's place. Not the answer you were looking for, but if history repeats itsself.....
  8. TN tourist learns N.Y. gun laws the hard way | The Tennessean | tennessean.com Another good effort, Brian!
  9. Recrowning a barrel is beneficial when cutting one off, or when something has damaged the original crown, such as gravel in the floorboard of your truck scratching it, or dropping the gun on end, etc. A handgun or rifle will not shoot worth a whit without a good, consistant crown. The tool you are looking at isn't a magic wand, however. Recrowning an undamaged barrel shouldn't make much difference.
  10. Congratulations. That's good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
  11. It seems like the roadside is strewn with them for sale until you're looking for one. There's one on HWY 80, near Defeated Creek in Smith county for $375. It appears to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 8'. I haven't stopped and looked at it, but from the road it looks good. Not sure if you want to drive that far, but it has been there a while, so negotiation is a real possibility.
  12. I don't see any good from the Federal Government becoming involved with yet another aspect of our lives.
  13. I think I speak for more than just myself when I ask; "Brian, what is your opinion on the issue?" Off the record and unofficial, of course.
  14. I'm wrong a lot, but I believe you made a shrewd purchase. I expect the price of these to go through the roof in the next few years for all the reasons you mentioned. I squirreled away a while back as well.
  15. Thanks. I haven't seen one in person, and I couldn't tell by the internet pics.
  16. I haven't changed. I started out this way and just gotten bigger and balder. I've Forrest Gumped my way through life for nearly 40 years now, and I'm not likely to change much in the forseeable future. Not the answer you were looking for, but that's all I've got.
  17. Scrapping CCW laws, and allowing law abiding citizens to freely exercise their 2nd ammendment rights would prevent such errors. As it stands today, a legal scholar who specializes in gun law would have trouble knowing and interpreting all the nuances of carry laws in 50 different states, not to mention staying abreast of the yearly changes in each state. Having said that, I don't believe ignorance is a valid excuse for violating the law, and I do not defend the woman's actions. Greg Herbert Lafayette, Tennessee
  18. Looks like you did a good job!
  19. I'm interested to learn whether or not it shoots to the point of aim. If so, I would consider doing the same upgrade to my RIA Commander.
  20. What;s the difference in a right and left hand model?
  21. I've found this set to be invaluable, along with an inexpensive set of needle files. A good cleaning kit and a cleaning mat are must haves as well. You can't do much without a Dremel tool either.
  22. Nothing wrong with my RIA! It isn't quite as pretty as my Colt, but shoots just as well, if not a bit better. Mine has a pretty good trigger. It has yet to have a failure to feed. It is a fine handgun. No conplaints whatsoever.
  23. Please post a video of this.
  24. Honkies are so cute when they're little!
  25. He can own one now. He isn't able to buy one from a dealer until he's 18.
