  1. You can get them new from Brownell's. I believe they are the same as the 100 Winchester mags. They should work fine, but they are pricey. I'd go back and look some more.
  2. The Rossi is a copy of the Winchester. I cannot speak to the quality of the Rossi, but you have one fine 22 in the Winchester!!!
  3. Finally.....someone with a realistic view. I think most people have watched way too many movies.
  4. If it'll safely go bang, it's worth $100 in my opinion. That goes for most any gun. I wouldn't pay a premium for the serial number.
  5. Your letter would likely state that it was part of a shipment to th U.S. Ordinance Department, as it is a military version. Although the revolver has seen service, it appears to be in pretty fair shape for a 90 plus year old gun. I personally wouldn't spend the money for a letter, as it wouldn't prove any provenance with the gun. It is a fine collector, shooter, conversation piece, and a part of American history. Nice score!!! It is definitely worth holding on to, or it would bring some pretty serious coin if you decided to sell it. It does not appear to have been refinished. Grab some moon clips, 45 ammo, and give it a go. I believe you'll be surprised.
  6. I have a Smith and Wesson 1917, but no matching Colt as of yet. These revolvers were made for the military as a stopgap measure because the military was unable to procure 1911s as fast as they needed them. I believe Colt will provide a letter on handguns for a fee. There were commercial models available as well. In case you aren't aware, your Colt is chambered for the 45 ACP, and can be fired with 45acp in half moon or full moon clips. There is also 45 Autorim ammo available. Assuming your revolver is in original condition, it is a somewhat valuable collector's piece, as well as a great shooter. Does it have smooth grips or checkered? A dull finish or high gloss blueing? Does it have a lanyard ring on the butt? Post some pics please.

    'Shrooms?

They are a delicacy around my house.
  8. It is a shame the OP never got to experience "Hunt's Sporting Goods" in Hendersonville. They didn't discriminate; they were a>>holes to everyone. As far as I know, they are no longer in business either.
  9. What are you looking for? Perhaps I could accomodate you.
  10. Take it apart and wrap it in a bunch of little boxes.
  11. Good luck with the UPS interview. If you get the telemarketing job, DON'T CALL MY D@MNED NUMBER!!!
  12. I've been in there a couple of times. They treated me very well.
  13. Any of the three would be great. There's far less diference between them than people would lead you to believe.
  14. Did you make those grips?
  15. I've went to many pawn shops and left empty handed. I've been to several many times and not purchased anything. You just have to be at the right one at the right time. I've left a few pawn shops very happy.
  16. Checkered stock=pre 1964. Pressed panels=post 1964.
  17. So 500 rounds in one day is harder an a revolver than 500 round over a period of time?
  18. Unions reward mediocrity and stifle competition and hard work. If you suck at what you do, a union would be helpful. If you are the best and brightest in your trade, a union is a money sucking boat anchor around you neck. What's so hard to understand about that?
  19. Amen! You'd be surprised how many people act like I'm an idiot for ownong a decent pair of binoculars. "I just look through my scope!" is the money saving advice I get. Everything doesn't need a loaded high power rifle pointed at it...I know I don't!
  20. I don't know, but I have one ordered. I'm a lefty as well. I understand they range from drop in to a bit of filing/sanding.
  21. Love my Rock Island commander! I've owned a bunch of guns, but for the money, the Rock Island is hard to beat.
  22. I just love big ole N frame Smiths, but I have little desire to carry one all day every day.
  23. I can think of nothing to add that wouldn't be construed as racist.
