  1. If it's original, I'd suggest you buy a replacement stock that suits your taste and stick that one back in the closet. In original condition, you'll one day have a quite valuable piece. Refinishing the wood would kill that possibility. Also, if you can turn an Enfield into a thing of beauty, you are quite the magician.
  2. ...or dlm37015 cleaned out his garage.
  3. Wow! I have several thousand flawless rounds through mine.
  4. I don't get many complaints about either of these.
  5. You won't find a passable over under for $600. Save up or else go the semi auto route.
  6. Shoots great in mine. I don't understand the obsession with "clean ammo". I've never found any clean ammo. If you don't want to clean your gun, don't shoot it.
  7. Good shooting, JAB! Now I'm going to try and get this crick out of my neck.
  8. Put them in the classified ads here on TGO. Couldn't hurt!
  9. That's pretty much how I've tried to handle it. I've tried to have the patience to let my children handle, clean, disassemble and reassemble, and fire a myriad of firearms while constantly and repetitively talking about gun safety. I also try to answer the neverending barage of questions from them about guns. Show and tell is important too. Watching a pumpkin being turned into juice by a 12 guage is a very powerful lesson to a young child.:DKinda cool to me too!
  10. It is currently ILLEGAL to sell a firearm to any person unable to legally own a firearm. Underage, a convicted felon, mentally disturbed, etc. How many more laws do we need? How many laws are there against rape? If a law isn't being enforced, more laws is not the answer. That being said, what we are discussing here is a problem that really doesn't exist. Brian, I've learned more from you through the discussions on this forum that I've learned from years of reading the Tennessean. Thanks for putting up with us, and with me in particular.
  11. Truer words have never been spoken. The reason I can't do it is purely me! The little gun shows great accuracy potential. A short sight radius, long, stiff trigger pull, a grip barely large enough to hold on to, and nearly nonexistant sights all add up to a gun that is difficult to shoot well. Add this to the fact that I'm, at best, a mediocre handgun shot, and yet I can still hit a target with it tells me that the little LCP could be a tack driver in the right hands.
  12. The dead giveaway is that the trigger and hammer would be color case hardened on a factory nickel gun. Also, if you'll look at the ejector star, or whatever you call that thing, it should be blued, even on a nickel gun from Smith. You can see dings on the sideplate around the cylinder release latch that have been finished over. I'm not trying to dis your gun, I'm just being frank about the condition. If it were mine, I'd spend the money for the letter on ammo, and proudly carry your new revolver.
  13. David, You'd make a h3ll of a gun show promoter! You also have a good idea of what it would take to make one happen. Didn't you say you retired last year?:cool:I'm thinking you'd be the ticket for a good Nashville market show.
  14. Nope. Those aren't original grips. It would have came with diamond checkered wood grips. The gun has been refinished as well. Assuming it is mechanically sound, however, you got a fine carry revolver at a fair very price.
  15. :down:Feces stirring fluff. I found very little relevent information in the article. Reporting the opinions of idiots does not a story make. Brian, Although you have come here to try and gather information from "the pro gun side", it's painfully obvious where your opinion lies. Why couldn't you give some statistics to illustrate the extent of the problem in private gun sales. Let's suppose for a moment that we pass a law requiring background checks for private sales. This would be nothing more than an additional tax on an otherwise legal activity that a vocal minority opposes. How would we enforce this law? Firearm registration is the only avenue I can see. That would lead to eventual confiscation. I cite Nazi Germany as an example. I enjoy trading guns. I own a BUNCH of guns. I buy, sell, and trade many times a year. Most of the people I trade with fall into the same catergory. Having to pay a $10 fee to the government for a background check that has otherwise been run many, many times previous, added to the $10-$30 fee a licensed gun dealer would charge to run this for me, would be a very significant additional tax. This proposal is nothing more than a step in the direction of more government control.
  16. I go to Walmart occasionally, but only as a last resort. I will, however, starve before I ever set foot in another Kroger store.
  17. I can prevent your next ticket......DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT!!! As much as I dislike LEO's in general, it is their job to enforce the law.
  18. Sounds fair. If you have a guy you can trust, well, that's worth a pretty good premium to me even if he isn't the cheapest.
  19. Gamaliel Shooting Supply - Rifle Scopes, Reloading Supplies, Gun Accessories, Guns It's a couple of hours from you, but darned well worth the drive if you're looking for anything shotgun related.

    My New 1911

Aint nothing wrong with that! ...except maybe fot that pink dot on the side of it? Very nice handgun.
  21. Why is teaching children safe gun handling practices never advocated by anyone but me?
  22. I've yet to hear a bad word about them. I'd be willing to bet the 357 is a handful with full power loads.
  23. I'll take a dozen at least!!!
