  1. I'm too lazy to try it myself, so I'll ask. If you take the expander ball/ decapping pin out of the die and size a round of brass, how much will it undersize the neck?
  2. Is the die marked 6.5x55? Sounds like you may have a 257 Roberts or similar die instead.
  3. Usually, the outward condition of a rifle is telling of the inside condition. Look for buggered screw heads, cracked wood, barrel bulges, make sure the action functions correctly, etc. I've seen some with pretty stiff triggers, but than can be improved. For the most part, the Marlins were built like a tank. If it looks to suit you, it'll likely be fine. I am not aware of any specific weak points commonly found in the 36/336 series. Parts are readily available if something did happen to break, but it isn't common for them to have problems not caused by abuse/neglect.
  4. I'd give building the boat a shot, but Noah was a better man than me if he brought a breeding pair of mosquitoes onto it.
  5. Here's a pretty good read concerning this discussion. http://www.leverguns...ove-barrels.htm While I shoot a lot of lead bullets in revolvers, I generally shoot jacked bullets in my centerfire rifles and pistols. I am not saying there's anything wrong with cast bullets, it just seems that jacketed bullet reloading is a lot more straightforward.
  6. No sir, I haven't. To my knowledge, the TEA and the NEA are still alive and well. http://teateachers.org/ http://www.nea.org/ Please tell me more. I haven't heard anything. Getting rid of them would be a giant step forward for above average teachers.
  7. A good teacher is grossly underpaid. They are also quite rare. They will never get the recognition and compensation they deserve as long as they support the teachers' unions, and in turn support poor to mediocre teachers. A couple of years ago my son had a teacher, and after the first few days of school, he cam home and seemed worried. He told me he was afraid he might be smarter than his teacher. After reading a couple of notes she sent home, and a brief conversation with her, I fully agreed with his assessment. How was he supposed to learn anything from her?
  8. Do we really want these people educating our children? I shudder to think what they are attempting to teach.
  9. Don't worry about any of this. It means nothing to you. Just remember to "VOTE FOR ROMNEY!!!"
  10. I always just stand and stare at people like that as if they have a third eye or something without responding. It makes them very uncomfortable, and rarely does the conversation last very much longer. They certainly don't come back a second time. As you gain a little age and financial security, the same people go from offering unsoliciting advice to prying into your personal business to try and find out why you are more successful and happier than they are. The same response works here as well.
  11. Garufa gave you some sound advice in your other thread. If you're wanting an M1 carbine, shell out the coin and get a decent milsurp. You'll be glad you did. We have several guns, but the M1 Carbines are favorites among my entire family.
  12. ...and they got their butts handed to them. Still, a very good run all and all. My wife was upset they burned their best pitchers against California. I told her if they hadn't, thy most likely wouldn't have got to play today.
  13. I'd have bought it.
  14. I picked up some odd, out of production ammo from a vendor for what seemed like fair prices. Didn't find anything else interesting. I guess the show was o.k., but not as good as some.
  15. I guess I'm a hybrid of Bargain Guy and Gun Collector Guy.
  16. Thanks for the reviews, guys! May have to check it out in the morning.
  17. I have 3 scales, one cheap Frankford Arsenal electronic, an old Ohaus scale, and a Lee Safety scale. They all read the same. Exactly; every time. Are you sure your Lee scale is off and not your RCBS scale? Do you have check weights? The way the Lee scale works, once it is zeroed, I can't see any way it would get off unless your bench isn't stable.
  18. ....and that's why I post on this forum. There are many angles of various subjects I haven't considered. As a group, you guys pretty well have it covered!!!
  19. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/archive/index.php/t-45532.html Standard is much less common, and therefore more desireable in my opinion.
  20. Can you all imagine the headlines if an HCP holder had done all the shooting the NYPD did?
  21. Police shot this guy and nine other bystanders, while he never shot back? Did I read that wrong?
  22. Most of the guys I grew up around did more drinking before the age of 21, or 18 for that matter, than they do as an adult.
  23. Think about it this way: there are many deer anchored with bows each season. Which do you have more faith in? Your SKS, or a stick and string?
