  1. I understand that Inca and Aztec indians practiced this, and possibly, it was one factor in their downfall. I believe that booze was made for drinking, and the rectum is an exit only orifice, but I have, on more than one oocasion, been called "old school".
  2. Even simpler: If it has a safety; put it back! I don't know what fool decided a lever rifle with a hammer needed a safety, or why, but seeing one tells me all I need to know. Don't bring it home.
  3. Macon county sells beer at convenience stores/grocery stores. No wine or distilled spirits anywhere. No beer sold on Sundays. No alcohol served in restuarants. Others can chime in on their locations.
  4. Very interesting. Thanks for posting.
  5. Welcome Sam. I love seeing you guys at the gun shows. You sell a lot of great stuff!!!!
  6. I'm that guy!!!
  7. Winchester Hi Point Heck, this is hard!
  8. Not me!
  9. I've posted this before, but it fits in this thread. That's me.........operating the camera!
  10. Me too. Otherwise it wouldn't be as funny.
  11. I learned this a few days back. Buffet: Big Ugly Fat F#^%#&s Eating Together
  12. I disagree. I believe you should, indeed, practice with what you carry. My kids don't practice baseball with walnuts; they use baseballs!
  13. I wouldn't buy as GAP, as I don't think you'll find ammo for them very much longer. Just imagine your GSG having recoil; a long, gentle push. That's how shooting a 45 feels. It's great!
  14. I want it to be a surprise.
  15. I would be proud to have it in my collection, as I'm sure he will be.
  16. I guess I'm still version 1.0.
  17. So they can serve and protect the #&^ out of you!!!
  18. http://oldguns.net/sn_php/windateslookup.php According to this, yours was made in 1927. Yours has several non factory holes and some honest wear that would preclude it from being a high priced collectable. They didn't come drilled and tapped for scope bases, and I don't believe they came with sling swivel studs. Also, the 30-06 was by far the most popular chambering in a 54. It is, however, a fine piece of history, and a great high quality deer rifle. Take it out and use it for what it was made to do; kill deer! All in all, it looks pretty darned good for an 85 year old rifle. I expect it will shoot really good.
  19. I feel that premium bullets are wasted money for deer/black bear sized game. If you go after something big, I'd spend the coin on premium bullets. Most of what you read and hear about them is simply marketing hype. I've been killing deer with boring regularity for 30 years now with plain lod Remington Core Locts, and Sierra Game Kings. There's only one degree of dead, and while the latest designer bullet may make you seem cooler to your friends, it just ain't gomma help on deer sized game from a 30-06.
  20. Hope you left room in your budget for a big pile o ammo. That's where the fun is!
  21. Me too!!! Thanks for sharing the story.
  22. The model 54 is a precursor to the famed model 70 Winchester. If it is in good, unaltered condition, it will be a quite collectable piece. What, in particular, are you wanting to know about it? We really like pictures around here. Welcome to the forum.
  23. ...and the 686 plus is a 7 shot version!!! S&W model numbers are complicated. If it starts with a 6, you can be sure it is stainless.
  24. The same could be said for conservative Republicans.
  25. No, but I'll be damned if you haven't hit on the greatest business model of the 21st century!!!!!!!!
