I'll give a little different opinion. I suggest you shoot what you carry, and carry what you shoot. Semi auto handguns, for the most part, are designed to shoot ball ammo.

I'd run a patch through the bore, and shoot it. As far as ammo, I'd drop by Wal Mart, and pick up a box of 130 grain Rem core locks, and anything they might have on sale. I'll bet the rems shoot as well as anything you can get your hands on. They'll drop a deer quick as anything. Don't overthink this.

What you've suggested is a very small market. I wouldn't think you'd have a ton of business with that alone. However, if you could make it into some sort of tourist attraction/souvenir shop, in addition to what you're thinking, you'd have a great market in Chattanooga. Also, if you could carry obselete parts/ ammunition/ etc. for such guns, you'd definitely have a wider market.
