  1. I guess I'm a hybrid of Bargain Guy and Gun Collector Guy.
  2. Thanks for the reviews, guys! May have to check it out in the morning.
  3. I have 3 scales, one cheap Frankford Arsenal electronic, an old Ohaus scale, and a Lee Safety scale. They all read the same. Exactly; every time. Are you sure your Lee scale is off and not your RCBS scale? Do you have check weights? The way the Lee scale works, once it is zeroed, I can't see any way it would get off unless your bench isn't stable.
  4. ....and that's why I post on this forum. There are many angles of various subjects I haven't considered. As a group, you guys pretty well have it covered!!!
  5. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/archive/index.php/t-45532.html Standard is much less common, and therefore more desireable in my opinion.
  6. Can you all imagine the headlines if an HCP holder had done all the shooting the NYPD did?
  7. Police shot this guy and nine other bystanders, while he never shot back? Did I read that wrong?
  8. Most of the guys I grew up around did more drinking before the age of 21, or 18 for that matter, than they do as an adult.
  9. Think about it this way: there are many deer anchored with bows each season. Which do you have more faith in? Your SKS, or a stick and string?
  10. That's a helluva lot better excuse than the same old "it's for the children" cr@p our county mayor and commissioners keep heaving at us.
  11. I thought active duty were exempt from the legal age garbage. When did that change?
  12. So I suppose if we gun people aren't noticing many people CCing, and we're sort of looking for it, we're doing a pretty good job concealing, huh?
  13. Make a good shot into the vitals with a decent exposed lead tipped bullet, and you'll have plenty of gun for deer and bear. I wouldn't worry about what others think. If they make fun of a guy with a loaded SKS, thay are morons to begin with. I've not yet killed a deer with my SKS, but I may put it on my to do list.
  14. I try to look for telltale signs of conceal carry when out and about, if I think to, and I rarely ever see anyone carrying. I can remember two open carriers, and I'm not 100% sure I've ever seen a conceal carry. If I'm looking and can't spot them, I doubt many will notice mine. I guess I'm not cut out for detective work.
  15. Not if it has extra holes.
  16. If it is the one currently listed on GOC, it says it has been drilled and tapped for a scope. When bubba goes drilling into a valuable firearm, it ceases to be very valuable. As I said, condition is key.
  17. Sorrry....I couldn't resist.
  18. Condition is the determining factor. Let's assume they are both mint. I'd trade in a heartbeat were I you.
  19. What do you need to know? I'd sure love to have one. One in good, original condition is pretty scarce and quite expensive.
  20. Sir, I would recommend a good condition pre 64 Winchester model 94 or 64. If you don't mind a hammerless lever rifle, the 1899 Savage would be a good choice. It's also hard to beat an old 36 Marlin.
  21. Here's a little info to digest on the Stevens "Favorite" series of rifles. Stevens actually made some VERY fine guns in that era. Yours looks pretty good in the pic. Thanks for posting. http://www.wisnersin...rite_rifles.htm ...and here's pretty much all there is to know about the Stevens tip up rifle. http://asoac.org/bulletins/86_kyser_stevens.pdf This looks like yours. http://www.nramuseum...boys-rifle.aspx
  22. I can't see the difference in chamber wear due to using seel cased ammo than the steel to steel rubbing of slide to frame, etc. If you shoot a gun enough, you'll eventually wear it out I suppose, but I wouldn't be surprised of you shoot the barrel out before cases cause enough wear to the chamber to be of concern.
  23. Man, I've been patient, but I want to see this rifle! Show us pictuers!!!!!
  24. That'll work. Been a long time since I've seen it, but I believe the reciever is grooved for rings. That doesn't seem like it would work too well.
  25. My father has a Belgian made Browning. It is a pretty little gun and a hoot to shoot. The way the barrel attaches, I can't imagine a scope on the receiver would hold zero real well, but you do seem them scoped, so what do I know?
