  1. I'd suggest a model 60 Marlin. With $200, you can get one and nearly enough ammo to wear it out. Great rifles for the price.
  2. Looks like a dandy custom 03 sporter. I expect it is a better rifle than most anything available new today; definitely a lot cooler!
  3. I would strongly suggest hanging on to it. Assuming it stays in that condition, it should appreciate in value at a much higher rate than savings accounts, cds, etc.
  4. It is  target revolver, and they were available with an 8 3/8" barrel. Here's a thread in another forum with several pictures of them.                                             http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1961-1980/134946-k38-masterpiece-8-3-8-how-do-you-like-barrel-length.html   According to my book "History of Smith and Wesson" by Roy Jinks, serial #75kxxxx was manufactured in 1979. Hope this helps.   You won't be able to retire using the proceeds of the sale, but it is a fairly desireable revolver, and would make a great shooter. Factory boxes, papers, and cleaning kits add generously to the value of Smith revolvers. My wild guess would be $600-$800.
  5. Likely a bad primer if it didn't fire on the second attempt. Not common; but they do happen. If you encounter several, you probably have a weak spring.
  6. Money well spent!   You probably didn't get the primer seated fully; thus the reason for your misfire. I'll bet the firing pin seated the primer. Did you try to fire it again? It probably would have the second time.
  7. And where are those available at the moment?
  8. In the next to last picture, are those some sort of folding express sights or what? Does it have a front bead or some sort of sight? What diameter are the barrel bores? They wouldn't by chance be rifled would they?   That's an interesting gun to me. I'd like to see the wood, front sight/bead, and buttplate. Wouldn't have a clue what to tell you it is, but would be interesting to see. Looks like a fairly high quality piece.
  9. Peel and slice them, and place them on the dehydrator. You can soak them in a citric acid solution first if you don't like them turning brown. They are great for fried pies or fried apples, as well as just snacking on them as is.
  10. You know what? I have them. I paid for them. They are legal. They are mine. If a sorry politician attempts to change that, then screw them!
  11. Why the SOBs have never taken responsibility for their actions; what makes you think they's suddenly start?
  12. Where'd you get that shell??!!?? I'd love to have one to use as a trash can or something.
  13. I primed about 1200 9mm cases today while watching Clint Eastwood and John Wayne. Reloading is where it's at guys!
  14. Michael Bloomberg wouldn't even know where to start banning that thing! :stunned:
  15. Something you are going to trust your life to isn't where you want to cheap out.
  16. I thought the gunbuster stickers on the doors were their security.
  17. Model 52 Smith and Wesson for a 38 Spl.   Model 952 Smith and Wesson for a 9mm.
  18. I can see the news headlines now: "D.C. Invaded By Nutcase NRA TeaParty Militia Revolutionaries."
  19. Thanks for the generous offer. Hope you all have the best Christmas ever!
  20. We've put up several apples and a couple of deer with the dehydrator this year.
  21. How the hell can David Gregory find one and I can't??!!??
  22. I agree, and do start low and work up. However, I wouldn't be so worried about a max 223 load fired from a 556 chamber, as it should be well below max for 556.
  23. Yesterday I loaded some 55 gr FMJ atop 27.2 grains IMR 4320. This is a max load in my Seirra manual. It seemed to shoot pretty good, function well, and stacked my brass in a neat pile right beside me. Another interesting feature I found was that a correctly charged case was just about dead even full of powder, which makes checking for mistakes in charging very easy. All in all, a good load. Let's hear yours.
  24. Because cops have that magic badge that makes anything they do or say perfect.
  25. I expect they are capable of finding out quite a bit of what you own, but if you're worried about it, you have a great deal more faith in the work ethic of the average government employee than I do. I say that as a government employee myself.
