Australian shot in Oklahoma by bored teens
gregintenn replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Obama; if you had a son, would he look like one of these guys? -
A Marlin model 39 lever 22 is guaranteed to put a smile on someone's face. Be prepared to shell out some cash for one though.

I'm 40 and still do a lot of hunting with a 243.

It is funny how interests change from time to time.

Heck, you're a guy! You're supposed to like guy stuff. I bought a new Stihl leaf blower last fall, and I've had nearly as much fun with it as most any gun. -

Honestly, I've heard more about the Obama's new dog than I have about this shooting. -

There. I fixed it for ya. I know this won't be popular with some, but it would have been driven into the ground had the races been reversed. I've yet to hear or see a news story even mention that fact in passing. I know it was made painfully clear the ethnicity of Treyvon Martin and Ronald Zimmerman. Anybody else notice that? Just an oversight I'm sure. -
I guess the question remains "What do you do with someone like this?" I know I used to really push the line on a lot of things as a high schooler. It drove my teachers nuts, gave the principal fits, and really didn't help me much other than relief from boredom. I like to think I grew out of a lot of that. I don't believe Embody ever will.

Need help identifying/valuing an old L C Smith Field Grade 20g SXS
gregintenn replied to musicman's topic in Long Guns
Model 21 Winchester, Parker, LC Smith, , Lefever, and Ithaca doubles were the premier American shotguns of yesteryear. Many of them still survive after decades of hard use afield. I used to trade at Game Fair when they were on West End ave. I haven't been to their new location. Judging by their inventory, I expected them to be arrogant asses, but I've been treated very well by them in the past. They always kept top shelf guns and fly rods. I'm of the opinion that a proper shotgun should have two barrels. If I had deeper pockets, I'd feel the same way about rifles. I expect you'll really enjoy that one. Take it out and bust some clays, shoot some squirrels, or a myriad other things it was designed to do. You'll really appreciate the craftsmanship and quality in it that just doesn't exist in a Mossberg pump or even a Remington 1100 for that matter. -
Thanks. I'm definitely interested. I like the fact it is made right here in Tennessee!!!

Prices and options? If we agreed to buy a lower receiver in the earlier thread, are we still bound to that, or are you just starting over?
-
You know, I'll bet that if a group of concerned gun owners got together and had a serious meeting with him, there would never be anyone prosecuted.
-
Did you show them your badge?
-
LOL! I don't think they'd miss you much. How far above your target's center is this line?
-
No hate in this thread. The op asked for thoughts and opinions. That'll usually get you some. It's great if you like it. I don't have a foregrip on my AR either. I can see why people find them useful, but the bad outweighs the good for me.

Hendersonville Gun Show this Weekend , Aug. 24 & 25
gregintenn replied to Grunt67's topic in Events and Gatherings
Usually one of the better shows in this area, and a nice building in which to hold them. I haven't been to one in a while, but they used to have a pretty good show 3-4 times a year in Cave City, KY. -
I'm with you. Saw that thing off, shape it with a file, sand, and refinish, and I love it.
-
I can offer some advice, and you can do with it what you like. When I was a teen, I drove a very nice looking 67 Chevy II Nova. It sounded like a race car. I also drove a Corvette some. I loved the cars, but they drew attention. I don't care for attention. They also drew the polices' attention. I never cared much for them either. As I grew up, I put these pieces together. I sorta miss classic cars, but I now drive more non descript vehicles, and have noticed police never give a second glance no matter where I am or when I'm there. I haven't seen your car, but I'm betting it is an attention grabber for one reason or another. If this is the case, it is sort of like a girl with pink hair and a tattoo on her forehead that gets upset when people stare at her. Whadda you expect? If you don't like attention, don't drive a car that draws attention.

Good deal. Have you personally bought from this company? I am not familiar with them.
-
My favorite load for 223 has powder just about level full with the neck of the case. Some powders are simply bulkier than others.
-
Me too. Have never had one to fail to feed, fire, or eject in any 45 I own.
-
More powder or a lighter recoil spring is where I'd start. The factory loads it shoots reliably are almost certainly hotter than what you've listed you're loading.
-
The short answer is no. A compressed load is safe providing it is within the allowable pressure range. If you are loading published loads, and doing it correctly, it'll be fine. You also may find it to be a very accurate load.

I've bought from Midway since Larry or his wife answered the phone when you called. I did like the free shipping, but I understand why it wasn't working well. I feel they overcharge for shipping. I my be wrong. They've never faltered, however, in their top notch customer service. It's nice to call or email with a question and get a response from someone who knows what they're talking about. You don't get that at a big box store. More and more, I buy from Graf&Sons. They offer a flat $5.95 shipping fee whether you order a decapping pin or a tractor trailer load of lead. Their prices are often better than Midway too. I've also found Palmetto State Armory to be a great place to order from.

You should post that in the survival part of the forum, and name it "Emergency protein source".
