1. The saddle ring carbine has a hevy, 20" barrel, while the 1920 has what I believe is a 22" barrel. The 1899 was made in 1906, an the 1920 was made sometime in the early 20's.
2. The 1920 is very trim. It feels like a single shot bolt action 22 in your hands. Except for maybe a Mannlicher-Schoenauer, it is the lightest, nimblest centerfire rifle I can recall laying hands on. The odd thing I found about it was that it has a military type 2 stage trigger.
3. There's a lot going on with that front sight. You figured out how it works yet?   Quit taking pictures and go shoot the rifle! I'm guessing it's a tack driver.
4. Yup. 1899 Savage F (saddle ring carbine) in 303 Savage, and a model 1920 Savage in 250-3000. That didn't take long. You don't run across many 1920's, or at least I don't.
5. A couple of new to me toys I picked up recently. (hint) They are both the same brand, and from the same era.
6. My Honda tells me when it's time to change the oil; usually about every 8k miles. I figure the engineers at Honda know a lot more about it than I do.
7. Beautiful!
8. ...and it's out of stock.
9. I'm not buying a Toyota because every Toyota dealer within an hour's drive from my home are managed by a##holes. This means I either have to spend all day driving, or deal with these people if there is ever a problem, recall, etc. I do not consider Honda an inferior brand to Toyota. I have found a couple of reputable Honda dealerships in my area.
10. Everbody doesn't have one of those! Very nice rifle.
11. I had a salesman in Bowling Green take my keys and not give them back until I got mad and threatened to cut him. In Gallatin, I agreed to buy a car, and they would not sell it to me because I would not complete a credit application. (I was paying for the car with cash)
12. I have as well. I would prefer a Toyota, but my wife now drives a Honda due to the lack of a Toyota dealership in my area with even a modicum of customer service.
13. Bore sighting will get you on paper. You'll need to do the rest via shoot, adjust, repeat. I like to shoot a 3 shot group instead of just one shot at a time, to make sure It isn't my fault I didn't hit the mark.   I use Garufa's method to sight in scopes for any rifle I can lay on a sandbag and see through the bore; single shots, bolt actions, ARs, etc. It works as well as the laser gadgets in my opinion.
14. I would suggest a TWRA hunter safety education course. It teaches the very basics of firearm operation, as well as firearm safety. It is also FREE if I remember correctly.
15. And people like you will be the ruin of this once great nation! :stick: Are you a lawyer, or just one of those folks who just don't want to earn anything?
16. Must have been the cloud that hailed on me while I was mowing my yard yesterday. That stuff hurts!
17. Why would you see an attorney? Go somewhere else and buy a truck.   I've done it several times for various reasons.
18. Do you have any proof of this? My tumbler gently rolls brass around in a circle. It can't be as bad for it as who knows how many thousands of hours/miles it has been hauled around it how many countries in the back or a truck, in a plane, boat, horse, camel, etc.
19. Yes sir. I have two of them. I would also suggest buying one larger than you think you need.
20. I'd urge you to spend a few extra bucks and buy a Liberty safe.   Compare one to the Winchester and Canon and you'll see why.
21. Most any dies will work fine. I like Lee dies. I would suggest paying the few extra bucks for dies with a carbide sizing button. Then you won't need to lube your cases.   The first thing you should buy is a good reloading manual. Read it. It will answer many of your questions.   Then, as you have specific questions, we will be happy to help.
22. I've never heard of this organization. What are they supposed to be doing?
23. I'd like to hear an update when you get some miles on it. I spent more time under my last Dodge trcuk than I did driving it. Maybe times have changed.
24. Whadda ya got in mind to build?
25. Try a soft lead hollow base wadcutter in it. The hollow bases, in theory, obturate to fit the throats and barrel.
