I prefer to hunt in the morning, as I tend to see more deer then. Most of the good bucks I've taken have been in the middle of the day, however. I just can't seem to force myself to go hunting in the middle of the morning and sit through the day. Years back I have sat in a stand from shooting light to dusk. I don't have that level of interest in it anymore.

You are correct. Anyway, If I bought a complete upper from them, it wouldn't be a "TGO" upper that I already paid for.

I don't know why they made the 91/30. The carbine is the thing to have.

Maybe they're just really fond of each other. Looks like they're slow dancing.   I'd hate to see them in the showers after the game. :eek:

He gave me a pretty good price on a complete upper; probably less than I can build one for myself, and I also wouldn't have to buy the tools. I also thought it would be neat to have an entire matching rifle from a Tennessee company.   Parts are now available, but still not plentiful, and I don't have the patience to hunt them.   I dunno. Just a thought.

I wonder if I could get CMT to build a complete upper with my TGO upper receiver and BCG. :unsure:   That would be cool!

There's a magnum Interarms action on 24hourcampfire.com in the classifieds for sale right now at $325. They make a great Mauser action.

You'd need to open up the bolt face, and probably do some alteration to the magazine as well, unless you get a commercial magnum Mauser action. It can be done with a military rifle, but requires some extra work. I once had a 375 Holland and Holland Sako That had a standard large ring Mauser action. It had a notch milled out of the front receiver ring in order to accommodate the longer cases.   A 30-06, or even better, a 35 Whelen would only require a rebarrel, as the bolt and action will readily accept these cases.

I'm not against buying one with a rebuilt title, but will not pay a clean title price for it.

Several years back, my wife and I were at a Honda dealership looking at Accords. We wanted one 2-3 years old. He had several, and gave us a price. Out of curiosity, I asked what a similarly equipped new one sold for......guess what? SAME PRICE!!!! I asked how that was, and he said people came there looking for late model used ones and never priced a new one. He told me they sold 2 or 3 used ones for every new one they sold.

I can go anywhere with my Summit Goliath stand strapped to my back that I can go without it. It is secure, and as comfortable as my easy chair. If something happens to it, I'll definitely buy another one.

Most any jacketed soft nose or hollow point ammo should work satisfactorily. If you're hunting with a lever rifle, I's suggest a Williams foolproof receiver sight in lieu of a scope. The lever action rifles are so much handier without a scope.

Watch some youtube videos, print an exploded view of the action parts, buy yourself a good gunsmith screwdriver set, and do it yourself.   They aren't very complicated once you know what to expect when you pull the side plate. That, and you should really understand how your gun operates. It'll help you be a better shooter.

Although you can now legally hunt black bear with your 25acp Colt Jr., it doesn't make it a good idea. :cool:

As far as I know, you have to save the photo in an online service like photobucket. Then you copy the img code and paste it in your post.

Vertical foregrip for an AR comes to my mind first as well.

Where did you find a caliber restriction? I saw a 36 caliber minimum for muzzleloaders for big game, and a 25 caliber maximum for rimfires and airguns for small game.

It was a 4" minimum. It appears they've dropped that requirement; at least I can't find it.
