I have a gambrel hook and rope/pulley system in my barn. I can hang the deer easily by myself with it. If the temp stays below 50, I'll let it hang for several days. This makes the meat more tender, and easier to butcher.   For slicing jerky meat, I'll put the ham, or whatever in the freezer for a few hours before slicing. This firms up the meat and makes slicing thin pieces easier. It also makes it easier to remove the sinew, or whatever you call the "silverskin" that covers the muscles. A sharp fillet knife is ideal for this job.   A good Forschner or Victorinox butcher knife can be had pretty inexpensively, and is worth it's weight in gold cutting up a deer.   The tailgate of my truck with a piece of 2x12 lumber about 2 feet long lying on it makes an ideal portable butcher table, and cleans up easily after I'm finished.

I'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of three grand. The thing is, they ain't makin em anymore, and prices continue to climb each year.   I'd stick with standard velocity target ammo in the 22 conversion, and if you really want to see what the 45 will do, find some 185 grain mid-range target ammo.

If the bolt will close properly, the barrel/barrel extension should be headspaced already.

This was with 60 grain Sierra HPs, LC brass, CCI 400 primers, and 25.0 grains of WW748. 5 shots at 100 yards measures .750" center to center. I think this is a good start. :up:I'm not sure I'm much better than that.

Yeah, it feels like part of the barrel. Having another AR with a full quadrail, I really like the fact it's so thin and light. If I had it to do over, I would buy it again.

You could likely swap that setup for a pretty nice car! Man, that's some Christmas present. I have a later 70 series Gold Cup, and with a standard weight recoil spring, it shoots ball ammo fine. I expect with the factory reduced weight spring, ball ammo would be hard on the frame.   Seriously, that thing is worth some serious coin. Is the 22 conversion a Colt Ace, Marvel, or other brand? We'd like to see it too.

The Mini feels better to me, but I'll definitely give the accuracy edge to the AR. A 99 Savage or model 70 Winchester just "feels right" to me however. LOL! I've tried to like them, but I'm still a lever or bolt action guy at heart. I guess I was born a century or so too late.

What do you suggest for the sling?   I don't recall the brand of several parts, but the barrel is a 20" Yankee hill. I believe the flash hider and gas block are Yankee hill as well. The stock is a fixed Magpul MOE. A 15" Midwest Industries handguard, A.R.M. back up sights, a lower parts kit from byedan here on the forum are all I'm sure about. The ambi safety might have been from Rock River Arms, but I'm not sure. The rest are just odd and end parts I picked up here and there along the way.   Of course you know where the upper, lower, and bolt carrier group came from (CMT). :up:

Unless I decide to upgrade the trigger at some point, I think I'm finished with mine.

What would you be gaining from doing away with the grease grooves?

I'm glad it's just 22 ammo and not food, gasoline, or toilet paper. I'm afraid that's coming.

I expect you'll have to build your own. A Martini action would be neat.

Heck, the steel stuff shoots pretty good in my guns. I'd pay extra to get reloadable brass.
