  1. Maybe I missed it, but what is he shooting at? For all I know, it could be a sheet of steel the size of a car hood. Once a fella got his wind drift and bullet drop situated, I don't see any reason why he couldn't hit a reasonably sized target at a long distance with a good rifle.
  2. Who says a 30-30 can't be an accurate rifle? I beg to differ.
  3.                        http://ads.midwayusa.com/product/175512/frankford-arsenal-ds-750-electronic-powder-scale-750-grain-capacity?cm_vc=ProductFinding I've had good service out of this little jewel. They often run it on sale for just under $20.
  4. My wife would probably like that. For my part, I'm more interested in the brass. Gold is too soft.
  5. Yeah, I've seen those. Pretty neat.   In my yard, however, it would be full of chert rocks and walnuts.
  6. I'd like one that'll work with brass.
  7. You sound like one of those Dave Ramsey "beans and rice" sort of folks.
  8. Babies have no respect! You spend that kind of dough for diapers, and they'll just poop and pee in them. :wall:
  9. I used the brass in a pan of water method for annealing these old 303 Savage cases today. After doing so, I still lost 16 cases out of 98 to splits in the neck while sizing.   Each one that failed suffered a longitudinal crack in the neck, or neck/shoulder area. None extended all the way to the mouth of the case.   Does brass just get brittle with age? I don't know the history of this lot of brass, but to the eye, it appears to be in good condition. There's no ring around the case head like I'm accustomed to seeing with rifle brass near the end of it's life.
  10. Oh, I've sold some I didn't like after I got them, but they've usually been replaced with two or three of something else in short order.
  11. There's four of us, including a teenage boy, and another about to be teenage boy. I'd wager my grocery bill is more than the average house payment.
  12. Buy the pin with the clip already installed.   Ask me how I know.
  13. I shot it this afternoon. The rifle is good to go. The promag magazine I got with it is junque, I still believe I prefer the regular sks or the AK47 over the AK-M.
  14. I do not understand the concept of getting rid of guns.
  15. NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :panic: I haven't been there in a while, but sure didn't know it was gone. I almost went there last night. That would have been a disappointment.
  16. Thanks for the heads up. I'll give it a try sometime.   Steamboat Bill's in Hendersonville isn't bad eating either. If your real serious about it, I can also recommend the original Steamboat Bill's in Lake Charles, LA.
  17. I'm sure happy to see I made the cut. I would have sent you a message, but I didn't see this until now.
  18. My father has primers that have been stored in an non climate controlled garage since I was a boy (over 30 years ago), and they are still as reliable as when they were new.   It gets hot in a garage during a Tennessee summer, but you could boil water in some attics!
  19. I bought a hundred rounds of ancient 303 Savage brass, and I believe I would like to anneal it before doing anything else with it. Could I put my drill in a vice and turn each case while heating the neck until it begins to change colors, and then drop the case in water to prevent overheating the case head?   I don't want to buy a bunch of expensive equipment to do it with if I can help it.   How do you do it?
  20. Who manufactures an aftermarket SKS trigger? I'd love to have a couple similar to the Tapco in my AK. Picked it up this afternoon. I'll try and shoot a few rounds through it this weekend and see how it does. I believe I'll like it better than my standard SKS.
  21. I use the large plasitc coffee cans. I wouldn't store them in the attic unless it's climate controlled.
  22. Somebody tell me what they think it is already! :wall:
  23. I have a cousin who spends a good amount of time fishing below the Percy Priest dam. Not right in Murfreesboro, but not too terribly far away.
  24. I'm saving up now!!! :hyper:
