Help me decide on an assembled upper (PSA)
gregintenn replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Long Guns
Doesn't the military use a carbine? If you buy enough ammo to wear out a $500 AR, you'll probably be o.k. to replace it. -

I can't tell any difference. My son just built a mid length carbine. Recoil, in my opinion, isn't an issue with an AR. -
If you all believe this SOB is any better than your run of the mill Dem, you are setting yourself up for a huge disappointment.

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/ar-15-upper-clearance/psa-m4-16-cmv-cl-stripped-upper-with-bcg-and-charging-handle-1.html I got one of these. It is very accurate, and I can find no blemish. I think it's a great deal. -

My boys and I were taught how to load and fire a cannon at the 150th anniversary event at Stones River. You'll meet some very nice people at these events. Here's another fine gentleman who allowed my sone to fire his rifle at another reenactment in Triune. I guess I've been lucky. I've ordered a lot of stuff from PSA, and without fail, received every order in well under a week's time.

Unloading a Muzzleloader without firing it
gregintenn replied to rugerla1's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
On that rifle, you could have unscrewed the breech, and pushed out through the breech end, whatever was in there with your ramrod. Some models do not afford that luxury. I often unload mind that way. As I shoot 777 pellets, and Powerbelt bullets, I can reload the same charge at a later date. -
A reminder to you Reloaders pay attention and be safe

I've never used either, but I'm guessing Varget is a stick powder, while Titegroup is a flake. That being said, they could make their labels appear different; more so than they do. IMR has different color labels for each powder. A person should read, but it is yet another visual clue you are about to screw up. Thanks for the reminder to pay attention. -
My wife occasionally gets some good recipes from facebook. That isn't a bad thing. I've never been a member, and am not inclined to become one.

It's a great feeling to have your own place. You can pretty much do what you want there.

I'd like to meet him.

I've a Colt Vest Pocket. Here it is with two bigger brothers. It shoots great. I never could hit anything with the Astra made Colt Juniors, but for what it is, the vest pocket is quite accurate.

I would advise you to hold out for an older Marlin without a safety. I don't know who or why; but it seems that people with no gun knowledge designed the safety for an exposed hammer lever rifle, and about the same time, forgot about quality. The older Marlins, and Winchesters too for that matter, will command a premium over newer guns, but are well worth it.

Sounds like quite a deal on your end.

Flatnose bullets no longer exist it seems. 30-30 bullets aren't readily available either.

I'd like a model 99 Savage "K". Google pictures if you need an explanation for "why". I have most everything else I like.

Compared to China......it's local! :usa:

Cheap shotgun shells.

Nervously, I just ordered a lot of stuff from them for two carbines; one I was building, and one my son was building. I found their shipping to be fast, and their products, as far as I can tell, to be of good quality. Best of all, there prices are very hard to beat. I'd like to hear your experiences with this company. I like supporting a local company when I can. They are in Kentucky.

Car/Cow accident question (not wife or I) no pictures

Chit happens! I was once a passenger in a vehicle that hit a cow in a pasture. -
On mine there was.

Car/Cow accident question (not wife or I) no pictures
gregintenn replied to vontar's topic in General Chat
She owes the owner of the cow a cow, and the owner of the cow owes her a car if the law hasn't changed recently. Assuming the cow owner isn't an honest person, he's way ahead only losing a cow. It may be tough to prove ownership of the cow. Since she has insurance, they should pay her for the car and pursue their money from the cow owner. Lawyers are one good side effect of buying auto insurance. -
Bobbing a J-Frame Hammer
gregintenn replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I'd prefer a good, solid primer strike to a lighter trigger pull; especially on a self defense handgun. A little polishing on the engagement surfaces is a big help in smoothing the action. -

I wouldn't think so. As far as I know, it is just to try and improve the appearance of a bad spot. I'd leave it as is if it looks to suit you. -
Hard to beat a 30 carbine.
