Someone will be along shortly to say that this is only an isolated incident, but these isolated incidents are being reported quite frequently. I always wonder how much goes unreported.

My wife and I almost died today, twice
gregintenn replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
I work in the road for a living. You wouldn't believe some of the things I've seen. Few people realize that a car is the most dangerous thing they'll ever touch. Dolomite, I'm glad you and your wife made it through the day's events unscathed. -
Didn't your SKS come with a stock? :ugh: Mine all did.....wood; just as God and Sergei Simonov intended. By the way, Welcome to the forum.

Good customer service, but a substandard product it sounds like.

I've never shot there, but have been in several times. They do seem like nice folks.

Thanks everyone for keeping this discussion civil. I've learned quit a bit from it, and usually discussions of a religious nature don't end well.

About all of my rifle barrels look like that. You can get it all, but it's a pain.

I imagine they'll use the same excuse as our education system and say that more funding will fix any shortcomings they might have.

You've stated in nearly every post you've posted here that the principal has violated the constitution. You can say it a million times, but you'd still be wrong. In an earlier post, you cited a supreme court decision to back your statement. Just a short while back, the supreme court decided in a 5-4 decision that the second amendment gave you the right to own a firearm. Had the decision been 5-4 that you didn't have that right, would that change the literal meaning of the second amendment to you? The supreme court has historically been wrong in many instances.

You ever been to Memphis?

I bought one 50 round box of 22 magnum ammo a few weeks back (that's all they'd allow), and mine came in the same box. Over $5 shipping. They were, however, the only place I could find where I could buy them at all.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the first part of your post, but I can sign on to the last paragraph 100%. Public schools suck.

Tighten barrel nut with no vise?

Know any equipment mechanics? A vice mounted to the back bumper is standard equipment on their trucks. Catch one parked and go to work (with permission, of course). -
That's the best argument I've read in this thread, but I still disagree with your premise. The 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution states: I assume you are referring to section one. I see no encroachment of anyone's life, liberty, or property by having a prayer at a ball game. As for the State of Tennessee Constitution, you are leaving out two words; "by law". I find no evidence the principal of the school passed any law requiring prayer before a ball game.

Isn't that the ACLU's stance? It sort of sounds like yous as well.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abby_Rubenfeld Sorry. I was incorrect. Abby Rubenfeld is actually Pee Wee Herman's sister. I get my lesbian ACLU lawyers confused.

Absolutely it makes a difference. As I said in an earlier post, the point of the establishment clause in the first amendment was to prevent the Federal Government from establishing a National (referred to at that time as a "State") religion. When the constitution and bill of rights were enacted, several states had a "State religion". There is a BIG difference between Federal, State, and County governments. The fact the lines are being blurred between them is a large part of our problem today. The federal government has NO business in the education business. I could make an argument that other governments don't either, but I am in the minority on that opinion.
-
Once again. There isn't a problem with that. The principal isn't a Federal government enforcement agent. There is no law, edict, commandment, etc. which makes it wrong to have a prayer before a game. You can worship Hedy Wienberg and they can worship God. Isn't she Pee Wee Herman's sister, by the way?
-
You who keep talking about an "establishment clause" are looking at this all wrong in my opinion. If you want to talk about an "establishment clause", how is saying a prayer in public forcing anything down someone's throat any more than attempting to silence that person? Can't we call atheism a religion? If so, wouldn't preventing the free expression of one's chosen religion actually be promoting a "state sponsored" religion called atheism? While we're at it, look over your kids' homework at all the "state sponsored" religion spouted in the name of the "Global Warming" religion.
-
We have to shed light on this kind of ignorance, or our country and way of life is surely lost. How so is having a prayer before a high school football game a violation of anything? Tennessee's constitution has no such clause, and I doubt seriously Scott county does either. In respect to religion, the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution prohibits the Federal Government from legally establishing a religion. THAT IS THE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF IT!!!!! If you'll study a bit of history, our founding fathers had no problem with States having an official religion.

Would they put that kind of time and effort into finding the killer if it you or me who was killed?

Rechamber a .22 Hornet to a .22 K Hornet?
gregintenn replied to Sidewinder's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Sounds like he had all his bases covered very well. A man of good tastes to be sure. My grandfather had one old Springfield single shot 12 gauge with a bulge in the barrel, and the fore end duct taped to the barrel. It did double duty as a hunting gun, home defense, and won more than one turkey shoot. I was fortunate enough to heir it, and treasure it greatly. -
Non corrosive is worth the price to me.
-
Comparable to Wolf. Works great in my rifle. I've not fired it from a bench, but seems accurate enough for informal plinking.

You'll spend money to devalue your rifle. If you're o.k. with that, then go for it.
