  1. I would advise you to hold out for an older Marlin without a safety. I don't know who or why; but it seems that people with no gun knowledge designed the safety for an exposed hammer lever rifle, and about the same time, forgot about quality.   The older Marlins, and Winchesters too for that matter, will command a premium over newer guns, but are well worth it.
  2. Sounds like quite a deal on your end.
  3. Flatnose bullets no longer exist it seems. 30-30 bullets aren't readily available either.
  4. I'd like a model 99 Savage "K". Google pictures if you need an explanation for "why".   I have most everything else I like.
  5. Compared to China......it's local! :usa:
  6. Cheap shotgun shells.
  7. Nervously, I just ordered a lot of stuff from them for two carbines; one I was building, and one my son was building.   I found their shipping to be fast, and their products, as far as I can tell, to be of good quality. Best of all, there prices are very hard to beat.   I'd like to hear your experiences with this company. I like supporting a local company when I can. They are in Kentucky.
  8. Chit happens! I was once a passenger in a vehicle that hit a cow in a pasture.
  9. On mine there was.
  10. She owes the owner of the cow a cow, and the owner of the cow owes her a car if the law hasn't changed recently. Assuming the cow owner isn't an honest person, he's way ahead only losing a cow. It may be tough to prove ownership of the cow.   Since she has insurance, they should pay her for the car and pursue their money from the cow owner. Lawyers are one good side effect of buying auto insurance.
  11. I'd prefer a good, solid primer strike to a lighter trigger pull; especially on a self defense handgun. A little polishing on the engagement surfaces is a big help in smoothing the action.
  12. I wouldn't think so. As far as I know, it is just to try and improve the appearance of a bad spot. I'd leave it as is if it looks to suit you.
  13. Hard to beat a 30 carbine.
  14. THe way an ar works, it seems to me like one should be properly headspaced as long as the barrel and bolt are built to spec. I've never checked one with gauges.
  15. Is the rim of the gauge getting behind the extractor?   I think one is supposed to remove the ejector and extractor in order to properly use a headspace gauge; at least that is the procedure with a bolt rifle.
  16. It shouldn't be too terribly expensive. It also shouldn't be hard to do yourself. Ifave bare you choose to polish the hammer, remember that it is not stainless. It will rust without proper care. The color case hardening is a finish that, like blueing, will help prevent rust. Polish it off, and you'll have bare carbon steel, not unlike the bolt in many bolt action rifles.
  17. Mucinex.   You aren't allergic to the dog are you?
  18. The hammer should be color case hardened; not blued. It would probably look o.k. to touch up the spot with cold blue.   I would suggest buying another hammer to cut the spur off, and keeping your hammer in case you would one day like to return the gun to it's original configuration.   I would cut the entire spur off, and finish the area with a file, and then emory cloth.   You could just trade it for a 642.
  19. The best stuff I've found contains pseudoephederin (sp?). You are treated like a criminal now when you buy it, but it sure helps. Sudafed, or one of it's generic equivalents helps a lot.
  20. How much leg do you want with them? Front, back, all? Does size matter?   I won't hunt until muzzleloader season, which begins the 8th of November. Surely, between the boys and myself, we can help accommodate you.
  21. 44 Magnum.   Out of your choices, 7.62x39.
  22.            http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/ar-15-upper-clearance/psa-m4-16-cmv-cl-stripped-upper-with-bcg-and-charging-handle-1.html I bought one of these last night. Unless I'm missing something, this is a helluva deal. Free shipping to boot.     *Update* I shot this today, and it is indeed a helluva deal!
  23. Thanks. I thought I remembered one. I was looking in the wrong section.
  24. Anybody know a good source for these? I'll gladly accept any other info you'd like to share about them. I need one for a carbine I'm building.       Edit* Nevermind. I found a used Colt Handle on ebay. It'll suffice. I'd still like to hear your thoughts.
  25. Right, but according to my source, this happened in Iowa; not Ottowa.   http://dailycaller.com/2014/10/22/al-sharpton-on-canada-shooting-whats-the-latest-tonight-in-iowa/
