Need Ideas for a night out, step inside for the details

We like shooting pool or bowling. She might not be a redneck, however. -
Bp pistol ball in a bp rifle?
gregintenn replied to Pdheald's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I too think a pure lead ball, aside from being the devil to get started, would lead the crap out of your barrel at rifle velocities. They've been doing it for over 200 years; just use a .430 ball and patch. -
Oopsie ... Smokeless Instead of Black Powder

I wish morons like this had chronographs. I'd love to know how fast that bullet was going. (eidt) I see mikegideon's program shows 3756 fps. While that's smoking, it's not as impressive as I would have hoped. -
It is the same reason those guys drive heavy duty diesel trucks. They're making up for inadequacies in other areas. As far as selling them after deer season, I used to supplement my income by purchasing these steeply discounted rifles, shuffling them, and selling them back to basically the same guys right before the next year's deer season. It seems that the internet has taken the fun, and most of the profit out of that venture. I also learned that might not be totally legal.

I have a couple that work great. Sadly, they're nearly 100 years old.

I've had good luck with interstate batteries. Oddly enough, I've never gotten a bad battery from Walmart either. I'm with the other guys; you may have vehicle problems; not a luck or battery problem. Did all of this happen with the same car, or several different ones?

That sure is a good looking rifle the guy is posing with!

I'm thinking I read or heard recently about a scholarship in Michael Brown's name. WTF??!!!??!? :stare:

No, no the heel is much more efficient. Don't ask how I know. :shhh:

Wanna hear about a law that makes no sense?

How does he get to and from work? I'm not sure people who've never lived out in the sticks realize what a vital part of everyday life transportation is for those of us who choose to. -
22 magnum is my unicorn.

At this moment, I own 4 black vehicles; purely by coincidence.

I don't recall saying my kid wouldn't do anything. I was an idiot as a teenager, and I'd be a fool to not expect the same from my offspring. All we can do is buy insurance, teach them what they need to know, and keep an eye on them to a certain extent. They have to grow up, learn to make decisions, and learn about consequences. As far as I'm concerned, I got into just as much crap with one buddy as I did with a carload. I can't see, for example. two teenage couples going on a double date in one car being more of a threat to public safety than if they went in two cars. It seems that personal responsibility is an outdated concept. -

Living in a rural area is quite different from living in town. We have to drive quite a distance to get much of anywhere. Although gas is cheaper, it is still a consideration for a teenage boy. As far as the racing, I can't say what these boys would do, I was referring back to personal experience. I guess my gripe is that I don't need the state of Tennessee to perform my parental duties for me. -
Ya snooze ya loose! Story of my life.

I'd like to see a more comprehensive test. I'm not sure whether or not the age should be raised, but there's no doubt a driver's license, like a marriage license, is waaaaaaay too easy to acquire. As to the age, I know 16 year old kids who are more mature that many adults. I also know 17-18 year old kids, as well as adults, who have no business operating a motor vehicle. I'd like to see some of these people weeded out, or at least better equipped to drive. My kid has been driving since October, and he's already been rear ended twice leaving school in the afternoon. -
I have a kid that is 16. He and two friends wanted to go to watch the Chris Kyle movie today, as they were out of school for MLK day. All of them are 16. Since they are under 18, they have what is called an intermediate driver's license. One of the many stipulations of this license is that they can't have more than one passenger under the age of 18. So legally, these three boys have to go in two vehicles. This is a law passed by the same folks who pass laws to increase fuel efficiency in vehicles, and mandated High Occupancy Vehicle lanes on the interstate. Do you think teenage boys would be more safe in one vehicle or more than one vehicles? I would expect them to race each other the entire way there and back if in more than one car. Wouldn't they be doing less damage to the environment by carpooling? Perhaps you could explain the reason for this? I don't get it.

It ain't a life changer either way, but five hours in a car is the only thing preventing me from getting it. I see a lot of 3031, some 4064, and several cans of 4350. All of which I use. I can't tell for sure what's in the cube shaped cans. Some pistol powder maybe?
-
Jump on it. Sell what you don't want. A looooooooooong drive and prior commitments are why I don't already have it. Some of those real old cans have a collector following of sorts.
-
I saw it on GOC for $15 per can. Smell of it. If it smells like powder and not something rancid, go for it. I'm still shooting powder from cans that don't have a bar code. When did they start that? Late 70's, early 80's? I figure if a man had as much powder as was shown in the ad, he likely knew how to properly store it.

Finally! My boy was reading Craigslist this morning when he read me an ad. Expecting me to shoot holes in his idea like always, he was taken aback when I told him to tell the guy we'd come look at it. We had to skip church this morning to try and beat the next guy to it, but there it was. 2004 Toyota 4x4 with an honest 83k miles. No dents, no problems, and in his price range. I was beginning to think it didn't exist. I guess patience pays off. Now to get forgiveness for skipping church..... :hiding:

Tell the lady in firm language that because of her, there is now one more armed criminal in her neighborhood, and if she has a run in with him, don't even consider calling you for help. Maybe she could show him her sign. That sucks. Sorry to hear it.

Lots of online retailers show a pretty good selection of 357 mag ammo in stock. Looking at the prices, however, I have to second the idea of reloading! That's what I do. I had no idea it had become so expensive. You notice how 357 mag is nearly twice the price of 38 special? It's virtually the same price to reload.

First it's the dog; next she'll be coming after you! :stunned: Seriously, the only difference I noticed in my dog is that he stays home more.
