My first Mosin-Nagant Model 1944
gregintenn replied to Richard995's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I too would equate the recoil to a lightweight 30-06 with a steel butt plate. Not unbearable by any stretch, but not a rifle you'd want to fire a case of ammo through on a Sunday afternoon either. -
If you don't mind driving north just a bit, I'd highly recommend you give Dr. Mark Ross in Scottsville, KY. a try.

My first Mosin-Nagant Model 1944

What are you wanting to know about it? I have one like it. It kicks like a mule, and in low light, it doubles as a flame thrower. -
Anyone care to pontificate on the next potential sky to fall?

M855/SS109 5.56 Ban!!! AKA Green Tip
gregintenn replied to mcordell's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I just heard on the radio that the ATF was scrapping the planned ban. Not sure what their source was. -
That doesn't seem fair. If that's true, there's Obama's path to ending gun sales. What if the ATF sent agents to rob all gun stores repeatedly, and then pulled their license?

I don't think you disrespected him in any way. I do believe he disrespected you however.

Man, I spent about $5000 the last time we went to Disney. You could ride a shuttle from our room to the lobby of the resort we stayed in. As big as the place was, sometimes we did. All meals, drinks, and snacks were included. So was a round trip flight. My wife and kids swear it was worth it. There's a LOT to do and see there.

You don't have a picture you could share with us do you? We like Mausers......and pictures.

Recommendations for a new tumbler

My Frankford Arsenal from Midway is still chugging along after 20 years. -
Actually, this one was built in New Haven. I don't see any shortcomings in it. I don't have one, but they tell me the ones now made in South Carolina are of good quality as well.

I've got receivers, a bcg, and lower parts kit set aside for my 11 year old for when he gets old enough to decide what he wants to build.

I'd recommend a trip to Chattanooga. Several things to see and do downtown. The Aquarium, The Lookouts baseball, etc. Also, right across the line into Georgia is an old fashioned amusement park called Lake Winnepesaukah. It's not a huge place, but it's like you stepped back in time. We really enjoy it. In Bowling Green, KY., you can tour the Corvette museum, see the Lost River Cave, and go to Beech Bend amusement park. It's not bad either.

It took a lot not to whip someone's ass today
gregintenn replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
I swear I think people have gotten much worse in the past few years. That, or else I've lost all tolerance for stupidity. I deal with the public every day, and you wouldn't begin to believe some of the things I've seen and heard. -
You are the greatest, Gordon. I have a few of your kits already. We put a lower parts kit in it from Anderson Arms, and believe it or not, It's a really good trigger as it came. I truly appreciate the offer!

It is family appropriate, but be prepared for your wallet to be raped! It's been about a decade since I've been there. About mid afternoon, we got hungry. I bought 4 hot dogs and 4 cokes. The total.........$56!!!!!!! I ain't going back. Holiday World in Indiana is as good if not better, at a fraction of the price.

I dunno.....Kimber makes a mighty nice rifle here. It puts me in mind of an old Winchester.

It was a budget build, but it'll shoot three rounds touching at 100 yards. We had a fine afternoon of shooting now that the weather has finally cooperated a bit.

I bought this one a few weeks back. I was looking for a 9mm. Talk about ADD. It's a 1949 model 70 Winchester standard in 30-06. It came with a Redfield 1 piece mount and rings, and a 3-9 Redfield scope. My very first handload attempt rewarded me with a 1", 100 yard 3 shot group. The trigger is great, and the action glides like it's on ball bearings. Once upon a time, Winchester built world class firearms.

Reason #452,581 why I shoot at home.

U.S. loses patent suit, owes ammo maker $15M

Different stuff. -
No. At least I didn't. I use a #2 pencil and a 6 pack. I refuse to pay for something that aides in my paying taxes. I also prefer to understand how the tax system is set up instead of taking a computer program's word for it.
