  1. My wife was walking around my truck one night to get in the passenger side, when suddenly, she just disappeared. I ran around to see what happened. She was lying in the parking lot holding her shin and cursing me. I now keep mine in the toolbox.
  2. http://huntforever.org/2012/10/05/marlins-256-winchester-levermatic/ This Marlin doesn't have an exposed hammer.   A safety is needed on a lever rifle without an exposed hammer. With an exposed hammer, half cock serves as a safety, as you've noted.   The push button, sliding hammerblock safety on these rifles is redundant and unneeded.
  3. You want sweet cornbread? Pour molasses over it. Don't cook sugar in it.
  4. Nothing wrong with the barrels. It's the rest of the gun that is hit or miss on quality. The JM stamp indicates the rifle was made pre Remington takeover, and denotes a quality gun. It has little to do with the actual barrel, it's just where the stamp happens to be located.   Personally, I'll go back a bit farther than that. I'll not own a lever rifle with an exposed hammer and a safety.
  5. Got a mosque nearby?
  6. ...and feels great to the shins in a crowded parking lot at night.
  7. Police speeding.   Using a cell phone in a theater.   Using a cell phone while driving.   Having more than 10 items in the express lane.   Taking up more than one parking space.   Hunting from someone else's deer stand.   Flying a drone over someone else's property without permission.   Visible underwear in public.   Agreeing to do something and not following through.   Putting sugar in cornbread.   Having a dremel tool near a quality firearm.   Spitting out used chewing gum where people walk.
  8. You're equating someone who has a government job to a welfare recipient?
  9. It hasn't hurt either of mine. They are the proverbial anvil of the bolt action rifle world.
  10. Which safe?
  11. Shouldn't hut a thing, but if you're concerned, get a snap cap.           http://www.amazon.com/A-Zoom-Snap-Caps-7-62x54-Russian/dp/B002L9GB56
  12. Now these guns are functional and attractive. Why can't a manufacturer still do both?
  13. Why'd they have to make it so damn ugly?

    AR Lowers

Anderson and PSA lowers do everything a lower is expected to do.   For an upscale billet lower, Cross Machine and Tool makes some nice ones right here in Tennessee.   I would suggest foregoing a polymer receiver in favor of aluminum, but that's just my opinion.
  15. I don't have a 45 lever either. That's a fairly recent invention. I used to wonder why the old 92 Winchesters weren't chambered for it. I was told that the old balloon head cases of the time wouldn't hold up to a lever rifle's extractor. I guess if the military would have adopted the 44-40 instead of the 45 Colt, we wouldn't have ever heard of the 45 Colt.   Now that I think about it, there could be several pairs....44-40,32-20,25-20,  I have 22's in both, 22 magnum.... My wife isn't gonna like this.
  16. Why isn't anyone ever shooting over a chronograph when this happens? :wall: You know that bullet was screaming!
  17. Sadly, all I lack in the trifecta is the 41 rifle.
  18. ...and my model 57 Smith and Wesson.
  19. You're a cruel man, Sid!!!
  20. What's the price? It ain't like I need another lever, but 41s are hard to come by.
  21. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqtTrxX-cfE Everybody has a favorite Eagles song, but I doubt many share mine.
  22. The hell it is. I nearly always show my carry permit when asked for I.D. A carry permit IS a form of state I.D.
  23. One could make an argument for the Beatles, but I've always thought of the Eagles as the all time greatest band.
  24. I didn't go see them when they were in Nashville a couple of years back because I was too tight to spring for the damned tickets! :wall: :wall: :wall:
