  1. Tandy Leather in Nashville has everything you could need or want. The employees there are also usually very helpful and knowledgeable, although a few of them are a bit odd.
  2. It works pretty much the same. You occasionally need to trim and chamfer/deburr the case mouths, and you'll want to lube the cases before running them through the sizing die. Also, you'll use flat nose bullets, and not spitzers since they'll be loaded end to end in a tube magazine. I find IMR 3031, and Win 748 to be fine powders in the 30-30. In fact, it seems most suitable powders for 223 work great in the 30-30.
  3. If one's good, two's gotta be better!
  4. The flu is rough! Hang in there. It'll get better in a few days.
  5. Just wait 'til you learn how much the average law enforcement agent knows along the side of the road. Were I on private land as you stated, I'd do as I damn well pleased. Your mileage may vary.
  6. That's actually about the most simple sheath I've ever seen.
  7. I think he's going to make up a cleaning tool. I believe he's shooting Winchester magnum primers, and maybe IMR 4895. Just snapping a primer makes an awful mess without a powder charge or bullet. I'm betting there's a better choice for a primer. He isn't using primed cases. He did make a breechplug for his Thompson Contender muzzleloader barrel that takes a primed 25 auto case. That was pretty cool.
  8. He made his own breechplug, and so far, he's having trouble with primers producing enough crud to stop it up after a few rounds. His is built on a 700 Remington action.
  9. I fired a cylinder of rounds across my Christmas present yesterday. It detected all six shots, and speeds were in line with reloading manual data, but there was quite a discrepancy between the fastest and slowest round. This was a 125 grain Hornady xtp loaded atop 20 grains of WW296, 357 mag, fired from a Herter's Powermag single action revolver with a 6.5" barrel. The slowest was 1426 fps, and the fastest was 1509. I expected them to be closer together, but this was my very first experience with a chronograph. My father has built a smokeless muzzleloader. That should be interesting to fire over the chrono for sure. This is going to be interesting I think, if I don't shoot through it.
  10. You ever been to one of these classes? If so, what did you think of it? Was it crowded? I like their new store.
  11. Santa brought me a chronograph. I look forward to using it.
  12. Gunbroker pretty much stands alone to my knowledge.
  13. You have my respect.
  14. That's what makes me feel like an idiot....I CAN step out back and test fire a load. I was just too lazy.
  15. I loaded 100 45 Colt rounds with lead semi wadcutters of unknown heritage. I didn't load them to max or anything, but after shooting about a dozen, they leaded like the devil. I loaded some more really light, and they shot well with no leading. I suppose they are quite soft. Anyway, today I decided to pull the remaining 88 bullets and reload them with the mild load. I learned that while the hammer type kinetic puller works well enough for one or two rounds, it ain't much fun doing a bunch. Load any new loads you want to try in small quantities.
  16. ...and a different bolt face.
  17. On a more serious note, I'm not a fan of Christmas music, but this is among the best in my opinion.
  18. I understand, and was only answering a question. It would likely never become an issue. I can see my kid leaving his in his truck, forgetting it's there, and somehow getting caught with it in the high school parking lot, which is a no no. This would follow him throughout life. Having said that, there was a gun in my truck since I've had a driver's license.
  19. I watched that on T.V. this morning. Man, he's awesome! Here's the gold standard in Christmas music.
  20. While it is legal for one between the ages of 18 and 21 to have a loaded handgun in their vehicle, I wouldn't advise it. I've found that many police thrive on intimidating minors, and most know very little about law. My son and I have recently had this discussion.
  21. You ain't new! Glad to see you back. Merry Christmas.
  22. Glad to have you here. Merry Christmas!
  23. Glad to meet you!
  24. I like the way you talk! Welcome aboard. You'll enjoy the low taxes and lack of regulations here. You'll like the beautiful scenery here, from the pool table flat West Tennessee to the mountains of East Tennessee. You likely won't care for the summer humidity. We call it "weather you can wear".
  25. Sounds like you'll fit right in. Welcome to TGO!
