When life gives ya limes, make a margarita!
  2. I reckon I’m planning for trouble. Bought the wife jumper cables for Christmas. She asked why I bought her jumper cables. I told her because she was always starting something.

They’ll melt sometime next week. Just try to not be under them when they do.
  4. Fair Point! Hiking the Appalachian Trail requires a different answer than going to Hardee’s for a cup of coffee and biscuit.
  5. One of many reasons why I never recommend someone for a job. Were they worth a damn, they’d need no recommendation.
  6. Were I your friend and you confronted me in such a manner, I would be royally pizzed off at you. Later, I would likely really appreciate the fact you cared enough to say something. Is the long term gain worth the short term pain? You can answer that better than we can.
  7. Muck Boots. No special socks needed. Ever. Fold the uppers down for easy on/off. Pull them up if the snow or mud looks deep. If you wear a 10, buy a 10.

Man, I’ll try and help folks like that any time I can. It might be my parents who need help next time. My wife is always amazed at how grateful someone is when you get them out of the ditch…especially if they’ve been there a while. It is a small gesture to you, but might seem life saving to them.

Round #2 looks to be starting here now.
  11. I've yet to find an inaccurate rifle chambered in 243, and haven't found an inaccurate load either. More than enough rifle for anything in Tennessee. I currently have a Savage 99F and a pre 64 Model 70 Winchester Featherweight so chambered. They both shoot tiny groups with both factory and handloaded ammo. Were I wanting to buy a particular rifle, I would consider a 243 Winchester chambering a plus.
  12. Good as any. Unless it's recently changed, if a store has any centerfire rifle ammunition, they'll have 243 Win. Like Darrell, I roll my own.

We just took the mother in law some leftovers and assorted groceries. The highways are clear here, but the county roads are still slickernchit!
  14. And next year there will be more people, more cold weather, and more electronic items. I can’t imagine how long just the permit process would be to build a new electricity producing facility. I don’t mean a field of windmills or solar panels; I mean one that actually produces electricity.

I just let the HVAC guy determine what size we need. I've had no trouble with mine keeping the house at whatever temp it is set for. I have noticed it has been running a lot the last few days, but that is to be expected.
  16. Maybe our local electric membership should consider investing some of their advertising budget into equipment upgrades. I see tv commercials from them all the time. Why would they need to advertise? Where else am I going to buy electricity??!!??

I've lived on this road over 20 years now. The only time it has been plowed since I've been here, a neighbor hit it with his tractor and grader blade. I'm fine with that. I knew it was going to be this way from the start and planned accordingly.
  18. Lovely rifle, but why is the fore end uncheckered?

Right! A lot of my driving is out in the country alone. I take great care around other drivers.

I can damn sure tell I’m not used to operating a shovel!
  21. A 70 series Colt Gold Cup National Match serves as my black tie 1911 at this time. It is a pretty nice firearm, but I expect there are better options out there today.

I like to slide and drift like I'm racing on a dirt track.
