I’m sitting in Orange Beach trying to think of a way I could go help. I understand they want everyone to stay away from there at this point. I guess that’s thes best way to help right now.

$550 for new carbs. I've been molested. Just a warning to others. Ahhh the things we will do to help our kids.

They rebuilt the carbs. Went up on the price twice after the first estimate. Ended up charging me over $1000.

No worries. You only cheated yourself; not us. Sounds like you made some other guy happy, however. If you were in the same time zone as me, I'd gladly let you come over and shoot one...or several.

Well, that 10 days turned to just over a month, and they took advantage of me worse than the Democrats diddled Blasey-Ford, but at least it appears they did get it running right. This was something I never would have been able to accomplish. Thanks for the help guys.

I've been searching for a copy of Elmer Keith's "Safari" for years. I finally bought one last week. I still paid through the nose for it, but it was a fraction of the going prices. I've never had much luck in used book stores, but have bought many on a number of gun forums, amazon, and eBay.

I think I'll put my copy in the safe when I get home.

I've noticed older quality collector guns such as Colts, Smith and Wessons, 99 Savages, Winchesters, Marlins, etc. haven't taken a hit.

I was broke then, so it really didn't matter.

H&R model 058 Topper with a 20 gauge modified barrel and a 30-30 Winchester barrel. I still have it, along with the box and papers. It's killed a LOT of game over the years. My father is a thrifty fella, and paid $100 out the door for it at our local Ace Hardware. Unless it's burned or stolen, my kids can fight over it one day.

He's been worth it!

Honestly, I'd rather use my muzzleloader.

I remember a little further back, seeing m1 carbines piled up on gun show tables for $150, take your pick. I don't remember what the Garands and 1911s were going for, but not much more. SKSs were $49. I also don't remember how much more the AKs were, but not much. I still have a few of these milsurps, and a while back, dug out a case of Norinco 762x39 ammo I paid $100 for. That stuff shoots great!

I'd much rather have that old model 10 than a new GP100.

If it's tight, $200 is a very good price. I would buy it. There is nothing wrong with those grips. If you replace them, don't throw them out. They'll bring several dollars. Until you actually shoot it, you'd call me a liar if I told you how well an old M&P shoots.
