I would love that trip. I hope you all enjoy it. I would suggest, if you have time, going up to see Big South Fork, and riding the train at Stearns, Kentucky. it goes through an old mining town. We really enjoyed that, and most people don't know about it.

Put me in the build it yourself crowd. You're gonna change stuff out on a stock rifle anyway, It's cheaper to just assemble the parts you wanted in the first place. I'd start looking at Palmetto State Armory, BCM, Primary Arms and even Anderson Arms. I also bought a dandy upper cheap from some little company in Florida, but for the life of me, I cannot remember the name. If you don't want to buy the few tools you need to assemble an upper and/or lower, just buy the complete and snap together, or borrow the tools from a buddy. I have them if only you were closer. No doubt a number of members in the Knoxville area would be happy to help you out.

Does anybody make a bad AR these days?
-
What ever you do, DO NOT google “big horn armory”. You have been warned.
-
I Have one in 44 mag that is older than yours, and it is a fine rifle.
-
I have a Rossi copy of a 92 Winchester. With 38 target loads, it’s like shooting a BB gun for big guys. With full power 357s, you know you’re shooting a real rifle.

What is your budget? The market is currently soft for the best lever rifle made...the 99 Savage.

As long as he has money for the lawyer, and the lawyer has money for the judge, these things can press on for years it seems. You won’t likely convince me that criminal court is anything more than an extortion racket.

I’d like to hear how this turns out if just for academic purposes. Any idea why it broke?

Where's MacGyver when you need him? He's very good at this type thing.

Can your deacons help find this young man some place where he could seek treatment? It isn’t easy, but doesn’t seem Christlike to give up on someone seeking help.

Since we currently don't own a still, it was blanched, bagged, and frozen. I'm told that canned sweet corn isn't very good.
-
Buy them? Why? They're growing right behind my house.
-
25 quarts and 2 dozen on the cob. That’ll do us for a year or two.
-
We picked our sweet corn last night, before the coons ate all of it. We're putting it up now. BUNCH of friggin' corn! I've killed 4 coons, one possum, and lost count of the crows, but haven't put a dent in them. I hate coons. Maybe one day I'll have enough foresight to not plant it all the same day.

I'm canning green beans right now. Does that count as prepping?
-
Let's just say I don't live next door to a convenience store, so being prepared is a way of life for us.
-
You have no reason to believe I am, so we're good to go.

I hand you cash and you hand me the gun. That is how it's done in Tennessee.

Norinco SKS Supply - 2019
gregintenn replied to GlockSpock's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
2019 has been very, very good to me thus far. -
I'm all hat and no cattle, but I do love that little prancing pony on my revolvers!
-
I'm glad you are settled, Doug. You are among some good fishing where you are now.

The now defunct USFA made a fine replica of a Colt's SAA. Many of it's employees now work at Standard MFG. You won't like either's prices, but they are first rat, quality arms. You can't go wrong with Colt. I own a few, and you won't be sorry making the investment. If you want to go cheap, buy a Heritage. If you want quality, bite the bullet and buy a Colt, USFA, ot Standard MFG. If you want one that sorta looks like an SAA, buy a Ruger.

Norinco SKS Supply - 2019
gregintenn replied to GlockSpock's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
There are two in my safe. One is a regular commercial Norinco with a spike bayonet, and the other is an "M" that takes AK magazines. They are neat, well built rifles. I don't have that much in both of them.
