Rock bottom value of a Garand
gregintenn replied to TomInMN's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I’ve never regretted paying the price for a quality arm, but have regretted on multiple occasions buying junk. -
Who’s wearing the pants in this outfit?

They make extended butt pads and strap on cheek pieces for ARs. An AR is pretty much an AR as far as fit goes. I am about average height, but have an AK with a thick recoil pad on it to increase length of a pull. Those Chinese fellas are pretty slight of build.

71 Barracuda with 60k original miles. Bought it when I was 14. I loved that car.....but ran across a 67 Chevy II I liked better.

It is my understanding that the kid has to be assigned as the primary driver of a particular vehicle. Supposedly the one he drives most often. If the need to file a claim arises, I don’t want any crap about said kid not being assigned to the correct vehicle.

When I got old enough to drive, my father was driving a Corvette. He leaned that since it was high risk, and me being a 16 year old boy was high risk, he put me as the primary driver of the Vette. I had a 67 Chevy II that would smoke his Vette, yet my insurance was $68 for 6 months. No idea why he was paying for his. I don’t think you could do this in today’s market. Fast forward to today...I have two teenage boys, and their vehicle insurance looks like a mortgage payment.

Our local high school parking lot is full of them. I guess it's a status symbol among teenage redneck boys. I think the reason for the law is that a lot of heavy duty pickups are used to pull trailers, and whether they are pulling a trailer or not, uniformity isn't a bad thing, It would suck to have to relocate the tag every time you hooked or unhooked a trailer.

US Strike Kills Top Iranian Terror Mastermind Qassem Soleimani

Sums up my feelings on the matter pretty well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Mast An impressive young man for a congressman. -
Most law enforcement are anything but legal scholars. I expect this guy was tired of being pulled over and harassed. I bought a pop up camper from a guy, and he gave me a copy of the law stating you didn’t have to put a tag on a pop up camper. He was insistent that I keep that paper in my truck. I never had an issue, but am willing to bet he did.

38 Special Wadcutter Load in 30 LC Brass
gregintenn replied to Clutch80's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You'd be fine assuming the "combustion chamber", for lack of a better term, is of the same volume. -
I caught part of that interview, and most of it went right over my head.

Done and bump.

The old GALLATIN range moved to Macon county. It is on Dry Branch Road off of highway 10, south of Lafayette. Less than a half an hour from GALLATIN.

OK, Where are the bigest Gun Shows?
gregintenn replied to xtriggerman's topic in Events and Gatherings
I’ll recommend a couple of good, small shows: Cave City, KY and Sparta, TN. -
A toast in honor of your mom and a life well lived.

I’ve bought some at a local pawn shop, estate auctions, and eBay. They don’t take up much room in a gun safe.

Russian 556!is pretty reasonably too.

I bought one of those a good while back. Still haven't took it out of the box. I need to get it out and see what it'll do.

As I said, I am buying at spot price. There is a market and set price per ounce of both silver and gold. In fact, platinum is really cheap right now, but I do not know enough about it to know why. I with you regarding anything with collector value above and beyond the value of the melted metal.
-
You will find rifle shooting to be quite different from handguns.
-
I always heard that an ounce of gold would buy a quality tailored suit or a new Colt revolver. Pretty close looking back on history. If all it does is hedge against inflation, I don't want a large store of it, but some seems prudent.

I'd prefer a carry handle.

I can't do it with a single stage press, and have no interest in a progressive. If you can, that's great. I stand corrected.

As the stock market enters scary territory, I seem to be gaining a passing interest in precious metals. Gold and silver coins seem to be an east way to quantify an amount and purity of these metals. So far, I'm just trying to buy around spot price with little regard to collectible value. I know AuEagle is a connoisseur of precious metals. Anybody else here have an interest? If so, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the future of the precious metals market, and coin collecting in general.
