Uncle hi power, is that you??!!?
-
My interest in shooting and hunting seems to have declined recently. Although I’m not currently buying much, I’ve yet to find any reason to sell.

You’ll love a single action. As big of a S&W fan as I am, I feel a certain reverence when I hold one.

I imagine she’d just need to go apply at the admissions office. It isn’t like it Harvard or something.

I don’t think they’d differ over about 100fps. With some bullets, they are virtually the same.

You will never be able to tell any difference in any of the calibers you’ve mentioned when shooting a deer. People do not realize how small the difference between high power rifle calibers actually is. You hit a deer in the vitals with any of them and you will be putting venison in the freezer. It isn’t that complicated. Many cartridges are either considered long action or short action, and are based on the parent cases of the 30-06(long action) and the 308(short action). The 30-06 family includes the 25-06, 6.5-06, 280 Remington, 30-06, 8mm-06, and 35 Whelen. The 308 family includes the 243Win, 260 Rem, 7mm-08, 308Win, etc. I’ve read many arguments on which is better...the 270 Win. versus the 280 Remington for example. These share the same case. One bullet is .007mm larger in diameter than the other. Side by side, you almost need a dial caliper to tell which bullet is which. No way is there any real practical difference between the two rounds. New cartridges are introduced and touted by manufacturers mainly to increase sales.

I bought a nice pre 64 Winchester in 30-06 a while back for $850. It came with super grade sling swivels and a 3-9 Redfield scope. It’ll shoot with anyone’s deer rifle.
-
The 260 Remington is a 308 Winchester case necked down to hold a 6.5mm projectile. Hard to find fault with that combination. With a bit of perseverance and your $1000 budget, you should be able to snag a decent pre 64 Model 70 Winchester (the pinnacle of the bolt action deer rifle).

Now this fat bald guy wants a 6.5 Manbun.

Primers loose on my breechplug/nipple

What changed? We’re they always loose? Different brand? Corrosion? -
I think it’s French for “do not attempt to reload”.

22lr=pop...3 cents. 22 mag=bang...20 cents. Same hole.

You probably know it already, but they now have a store in Gallatin.

So I understand it is a chainsaw chain sandwiched between two metal plates running at a high rpm. What could go wrong?

Chuck Conners is spinning in his grave.

A little girl I attend church with killed a deer yesterday that is believed to make the Boone and Crockett record book! TWRA is supposed to have a piece about it upcoming on Facebook. I'm guessing she's about 11 or 12 years old. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=422745991977906&set=pob.100000092242731&type=3&theater I'm not a Facebook guy, so hopefully this link will work. ETA: it green scored 174-1/2.

LOL! I bought a 1/4 ounce gold coin in a pawn shop last Saturday for spot price. Since then, gold has dropped $50 an ounce. I wish you better luck than I experienced dipping my toe into the precious metals market.

Is it time for hickory nuts yet?
gregintenn replied to gregintenn's topic in Survival and Preparedness
There is some variety of hickory tree that I’ve only found a couple of, and no longer have access to them. They have nuts big a walnuts, and are even better to eat than the scaly bark variety. I’ve no idea what they’re called. -

They know. I’ve heard you can put them in a bucket of water and the bad ones will float. Never tried it. -
Any news about getting the windshield replaced?

I went to an auction this morning you’d have liked. They had a dozen or so classic cars. Among them were 3 Corvettes. Two 64’s and a 65 big block convertible. Alas, I came in second on one of the 64’s. They didn’t let the other two go. And, yes. My wife won’t let me have a motorcycle.

Go buy a new Harley and a new Honda. Do no work on either, and see which one you can ride the most miles.
-
Sorry I steered you wrong.

Could it just need cleaning? I’ve not ran into that problem so far. Just lucky I guess? Call and complain about it and see if they’ll swap it out.
