  1. You mean where they changes "was" to "is"? What about it? Sorry, I was only looking at the revision. I think that if the carry permit wasn't just a revenue generator in Tennessee, it should apply to us.
  2. What this country needs right now is a good dose of "detaining".
  3. I have not. I would expect a pretty high cost of living there, however.
  4. Hard to believe labor is cheaper in Daytona, Florida than in East Tennessee.
  5. Add that to the cost of a decent camper! My wife and I decided we can rent a bunch of condos!
  6. This type thing mostly devalues a vehicle. If I see a wad of wires hanging from under the dash or a lift kit, I’m out. BubbA ain’t likely to improve upon the performance designed by actual mechanical engineers.
  7. I’ve got a case of 556, and I’ll raise you a case of 7.62x39 AND a case of 9mm!
  8. My kid has been looking for a used car and has determined that the prices are crazy right now.
  9. On Monday, Sept 21, we will be milling and paving at the intersection of SR25 and US231 (Payne’s Store) from 8:30am till 3pm. There will be traffic delays. Please seek an alternate route or else have some patience. Please pass this along to friends and relatives. Thanks.
  10. I don’t know what you’re looking for or how big a hurry you’re in, but I find steals at the local bank’s repo auctions.
  11. Who stole his rattles, Erik?
  12. We simply can't afford to be all things to all people. I just cannot understand how I can support my family yet others cannot. There isn't anything special whatsoever about me. I live with the choices I've made. I expect others to do the same. Is that asking too much?
  13. The government now dictates what plans can and cannot be sold. Do you realize that you and I are paying for things we don’t need such as maternity coverage? Insurance companies cannot sell across state lines. There are many more examples. Without all of this type regulation, insurance companies would be much more competitive.
  14. I would have loved to have had the option of opting out of social security. Why won’t your wife be able to draw from it?
  15. The way to fix it is to remove government interference and let the free market do what it does. I know...good luck getting that done.
  16. Grab a file and hunk of steel and make one and you’ll be really amazed at how inexpensive it is.
  17. Dave, I trust you realize government created this problem. You have more faith than I do if you expect them to fix it.
  18. The medical industry went off the reservation when consumers were disconnected from the price of the product/service. Call a hospital and ask how much they'd charge to remove your gall bladder. They wouldn't have a clue. I know of no other industry that operates this way. Another problem we've run into is the cold, hard fact that we have the ability to do more things than we can afford to do. We all love our families, but is it economically sustainable to do a million dollars worth of medical procedures to granny who is 95 and doesn't even know where she's at? Is it really even doing her any favors regardless of who pays the bill? These are some tough questions that will soon have to be answered. I understand the emotional side of making all healthcare available to everyone, but it simply does not work on a calculator. I do know that an ever increasing tax burden on the working folks of this country isn't the way to solve it. I also know that a lot of folks will go to the doctor or emergency room when it isn't necessary as long as there isn't a cost to them. Make them pay a few hundred bucks, and they will discover alternative measures to deal with whatever ails them.
  19. What??!!? Can’t a guy get in touch with his feminine side once in a while?
  20. That’s awesome. I agree that family is more important than money. What I disagreed with was your statement that there was no way a “working stiff” could retire comfortably. You just stated several reasons why you aren’t willing to do what it takes. Please don’t take my post the wrong way. I think you are making some great decisions. It’s just that I fully believe you could become wealthy were that your goal. I think you have better goals.
  21. If that is your attitude, that is your probably where you will end up. A person’s income, and lot in life for that matter is only guided by a few things. His health, ability, drive, and imagination. You aren’t tied to your current job. I expect your wife can work. You can also pick up after hours work. There are as many options as your imagination allows. If you are happy where you are, great. If not, find someone who is where you want to be and figure out what they are doing differently from you.
  22. I was told the Affordable Care Act would solve this problem. We see how that went. What is your proposal to fix it? Tax me more?
  23. I think I was wrong on my terminology. What I meant to say was major medical. It was the type plan where you just paid for a doctor visit or er visit and meds. It paid for some major surgery, cancer, etc. That is how medical insurance was supposed to be.
