  1. Don't buy the cheapest heat pump. Get the one with the highest SEER rating. You'll more than recover your extra investment with cheaper electric bills.
  2. I'd probably be happy with natural gas heat as it blows much warmer air out of the vents, but I live out in the sticks where propane would be the only option. I'm out on the propane.
  3. That's probably about what I'm going to try. I have some 168 grain rounds I loaded when I first got it. I know I wrote down the load, but haven't yet found where I wrote it. I guess I can pull a bullet and weigh it. I know the 168 grain load should have a bit less powder than the 155 grain load. I may just load a bunch more of the 168 grain bullets. They shot pretty tight groups. I wish I had a couple more pounds of IMR4895.
  4. I’d offer to bring you something, but I’m leery about being able to get there. We just got another couple of inches of snow in the last 2 hours.
  5. Since they don’t have any way to vent, I wouldn’t want to use one indoors for any length of time, but on the other hand, I don’t see how they could be any worse than those old kerosene heaters. I have a generator and bought an infrared heater at Ace Hardware. It said it heated 2000sf. It heated my house great when the central unit went out during Christmas.
  6. Don’t look at democraticunderground.com.
  7. Goodbye to the man who saved AM radio.
  8. Please report back if you don't mind.
  9. I just leave mine on auto and let it do it’s thing. It’s been doing that for 18+ years. We’ve been comfortable, and I can’t really complain about the electric bills. I wouldn’t have anything else. (I grew up cutting firewood.)
  10. Google "geothermal heating and cooling".
  11. I went to Mt. Juliet this morning. We in Macon County don't have anything on you guys down that way. It's pretty bad.
  12. I sure appreciate it, guys!
  13. Duluth is wonderful for weather like this.
  14. And a piano would cover twice the area.
  15. If a piano, or back in the day, a waterbed wasn’t a problem, you’re good methinks.
  16. I wouldn't worry about it.
  17. Save you a trip. It’s a holiday. The mail didn’t run.
  18. Driving in Macon County is "interesting".
  19. How big are the safes?
  20. If you are concerned, would you be able to get under there and do some extra bracing?
  21. Shouldn't be a problem.
  22. I haven’t.
  23. I have some 155 grain Sierra Palma Match I'd like to load. I've found that 150 and 155 grain bullets call for the same loads. Perusing the internet finds loads from 46-50 grains if IMR 4895. Oddly, the only reloading manual I have that has a separate section for M1 Garands doesn't show any IMR 4895 loads for 150-155 grain projectiles. It does for 168-175 grain bullets. A different manual has loads for IMR 4895 and 150-155 grain bullets, but they don't specify they are for a Garand. I assume they would work, however. Wouldn't you think so? If you have a similar pet load, I'd like to hear what it is.
  24. Slick to closed in my neighborhood.
  25. You interested in getting another one running? I got close, but never could get that mulit fingered spring into the correct position, and think I bent one of the fingers. I think mine might work if I could get that worked out. I thought they were a black powder only proposition. Guess I was wrong. Kudos to you for figuring it out! I’m told there are very few people left who have the skill and knowledge to repair them. They are a unique design for sure.
