  1. What questions do you have?
  2. I may have seen some 4198 at the Reloader's Bench this morning. Might be worthwhile to give em a call.
  3. I finally found some at the Reloader’s Bench this morning. Inflation has definitely hit the reloading industry, but now I can go back to loading for the Garand. They do have a limited selection of powder in case anyone else is looking.
  4. Exactly! I’m under no illusion of being a gunfighter by any means, but I do value the opportunity to have a fighting chance. I believe a can do attitude, situational awareness, and the willingness to go through with what needs to be done will most often trump your count of rounds available. If I were really expecting trouble, I would first prefer to be elsewhere, and if that failed, I would want a rifle.
  5. In my personal experience, I have felt the need for a handgun twice. Luckily, on both occasions, the mere act of drawing and taking a defensive stance quickly deescalated the situation. Both times, had I been forced to fight, I seriously doubt I had the skill or ammunition to prevail. Surprisingly, at the time, I did feel I had the commitment and determination to give it one helluva try.
  6. Tin coating is a process I’m not familiar with.
  7. Advance Auto has a sale going on right now: 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 synthetic oil and a Mobil 1 filter for $34.99. That ain’t bad.
  8. We planted our garden today. It’s harder work than it used to be. I think I’m beginning to get old. If so, I can’t really recommend it.
  9. A cheap way to feed deer is to go to the grocery store and buy a big bag of pinto beans and sew them.
  10. I’m sold on synthetic oil. I believe it gets you slightly better gas mileage, and the extended oil change intervals offsets the increase in cost.
  11. I haven't bought squat in the past year or so. It'll show back up before long. As I've been reloading when the weather is bad, I would like to replenish my stock, but I've loaded enough ammo to shoot for a loooooooooong time.
  12. You'd do well to practice in the yard til you get it figured out. I've never gotten mine hung up, and I'm an expert at getting things hung up! They work great once you figure out the trick to throwing them. 5' should be plenty big. We always keep it in a bucket, and take a minnow bucket also. Dump the caught minnows in the open top bucket, then pour them from that bucket into the minnow bucket. Makes it a lot easier.
  13. They’re here! Two thumbs up from me for Starline!
  14. These old rifles are made more like a farming implement than a fine rifle. They are crude, but strong, reasonably accurate, and pack quite a wallop. I find them to be an interesting part of history and human ingenuity.
  15. How does GOC make money?
  16. If you ever write a book, I’d sure like a copy. You’ve lived a very interesting life indeed.
  17. I did consider a trip to the Upper Peninsula, as I’ve never been, but doesn’t Queen Gretchen still have the place shut down for the ‘rona?
  18. Right, but I find it frustrating that I can hit with a rifle without practice. I remember bows were a similar thing. You had to put in some time woth them regularly to stay proficient.
  19. Mainly because I'm lazy and have been doing other things.
  20. They first built it as a sit down restaurant. Something new Mcdonald’s was trying. It wasn’t bad then. I think it was called The Golden Arch Cafe or something similar.
  21. I’d bet I am shoving the gun in anticipation of recoil. I’ll get it worked out. I just need to shoot more. I’ve fixed it in the past. Just not sure why it keeps cropping back up.
  22. I shoot many different guns, but I’ll make it simple. I can shoot a model 18 Smith and Wesson (22lr) to point of aim all day long. Replace it with a model 19 (357 mag), and I’m shooting to the right. Same frame, grip, weight, etc.
  23. Could someone explain the attraction to lighthouses. My wife makes a big deal out of them. To me they are simply a grain silo with a ladder and a big flashlight.
  24. I don’t care for sitting on a beach either. Savannah is awesome!
