  1. That’s my usual fishing hole.
  2. Me and my son went to Dale Hollow a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't find any shellcrackers. We did catch some big bluegills. That's the only time I've been so far this year.
  3. One of those Rock Olas sure is tempting.
  4. Where in the world have you been? I was just wondering about you. I haven’t seen you here in a while. I hope all is well.
  5. Check with Sam Hoster on South Water in Gallatin.
  6. I had a buddy who ran a gun store for a while. He’d call me to ask what I thought about trades pretty often. He’d also give me good deals on trade ins I was interested in. Sometimes it’s good to be the gun guy.
  7. Buy a bolt and borrow a set of go/no go headspace gauges. You might luck out and not need a gunsmith. If it doesn’t headspace properly, then you need a gunsmith or machinist.
  8. I haven’t owned or shot a Girsan, but I have a Rock Island and can’t complain about it.
  9. But it’s still a battle implement; not something designed to require a lot of care.
  10. I’ve noticed that the USPS does a fabulous job for me....as long as a package doesn’t go through that hub. If it does, you can bet it will be as well traveled as Hank Snow once it finally reaches it’s destination. I’ve seen tracking lists pages long.
  11. You mainly wipe off fingerprints and store it indoors. They were military weapons and not priceless works of art after all.
  12. I'm sure you could find a gunsmith that would happily take his money, but it ain't that hard to clean a bolt action rifle yourself.
  13. Probably because we are no longer allowed to discuss politics on here. This forum is only for second amendment related politics. You might want to delete your post or else come up with a great tie in to the second amendment.
  14. No kidding. This was to die for. I had to stop myself from shooting a deer in the back yard yesterday just to put it on the smoker.
  15. Corn cob media, tumbler about half full. Squirt of Nu Finish car polish, and a used dryer sheet. Tumble 3-4 hours. When that doesn’t produce desired results, dump in trash and start with clean media. It isn’t an exact science.
  16. I really like the wood, round butt Smith and Wesson Combat grips with finger grooves, but they are quite pricey these days when you find them.
  17. Definitely one to hang on to. I’d have bought it as well. I am a sucker for am N frame Smith.
  18. You don’t see that one every day. I like it. Who do you suppose made those grips? And reckon what they were made for. They don’t appear to fit that round butt frame very well.
  19. 1/4 cup lemon juice 1/4 cup olive oil 5 cloves garlic 1 tsp sea salt 1 tsp crushed black pepper Marinade in this overnite Rinse and pat dry Cover with bacon and smoke to 140degrees f This was friggin delicious!
  20. I went with the lemon juice marinade, but topped them with bacon. I’ll let you know how it turns out. Not sure why the directions said to rinse off the marinade and pat dry before smoking, but what the heck? I did it. so far everything smells good.
  21. Never heard of it. I’ll check it out. Many thanks! I looked. Way out of my price range.
  22. The 16 gauge is making a resurgence, and for good reason...it is the perfect shotgun.
  23. I bought a nickel 57 S prefix a few years ago for a song. It was well worth the price of admission. I too lust for a nice vintage 58. A companion 1894 Marlin would be all the better.
  24. I did not know this. My hat’s off to you sir.
  25. I thought that was the French plan.
