  1. It really depends on where and how you live. A man out in the country with a decent farm can be pretty much self sufficient. The same fella living downtown in a one bedroom apartment is much more limited in what he’s able to to to be self sufficient.
  2. Sounds like a plan. A bad plan, but a plan nonetheless.
  3. I’m thinking small denomination WalMart, Ace Hardware, or Dollar Store gift cards would travel and disperse easily, and could really be useful.
  4. Go camping one weekend. Make a mental note of the things you forgot to bring. Plan out a week. Get what you think you’ll need for the week and don’t go in a store come hell or high water. Make a mental note of the things you forgot. Learn a valuable skill you can use to barter with in hard times. Start a book collection. Search out books with valuable information in them like the old Foxfire series, a Boy Scout manual, a Bible, cookbooks, etc. Pretend the internet is going away. I feel like this would be a good place to start. No way we can make a list of things you need, but you can.
  5. The Chinese ammo never came back.
  6. You got me there boss. I surely thought it would.
  7. Short memories we have.
  8. Ya’ll idolize her all you want, but Dolly gets credit for a whole lot of chit Dolly doesn’t do. She has the best PR team I’ve ever seen.
  9. Keep us updated, Erik. Hopefully he’ll be fine.
  10. You just don’t understand.
  11. They all have a valid reason to do so. I still don’t think it would be a healthy as breathing fresh air.
  12. Try and find 7.62x39 brass.
  13. First two games so far. Pickett County finally threw in the towel this year and gave up on having a football team. They are sure enough a small school. When we built a new school in Lafayette, we offered to build it large enough where RBS kids could go there as well. It would have been good for the whole county in my opinion. The folks over there threw a fit and flatly refused it. I do not feel sorry for their football team.
  14. I agree it probably doesn’t hurt. The point I was trying to make is that there are myriad things we can do to make our lives marginally safer, but we weigh the risk/reward and decide it just isn’t worthwhile. I’m somewhat claustrophobic, and a mask makes me feel like I am smothering. I cannot believe breathing one’s own exhaled breath over and over would be very healthy over an extended period of time.
  15. Do you wear one everywhere you go? A vest that is?
  16. If Abbott and Costello were still around...
  17. The wells were still there a several years back. I think TDEC or some environmental outfit made the city cap the wells. I expect the advance of modern medicine reduced the attraction to the thought od sulpher water curing most anything.
  18. I’ve read it was the top U.S. tourist destination around 1900 or so. That’s sure hard to imagine today.
  19. Before my time, but I’ve seen pictures and heard stories. That was pretty much the end of RBS.
  20. The sheriff was on the news last night. He said you could see a “wall of water” coming down the street like a damn broke. Who’s prepared for that?
  21. Face it, dude. Father time is about to take that away from you if he hasn’t already.
  22. If you say so, boss.
  23. I doubt it. John Bozeman
  24. I went in one of those CVS clinics in Florida once. I was covered in poison ivy. Both eyes swelled shut. It was bad. The sign had a short list of what they treated. On the list was poison ivy. I'm in business, right? The chick in the booth took a look at me and said "Damn! You need to go see a doctor!" You know they wouldn't refund my copay?
  25. It ain't no damn fun! I didn't realize I was old until I got a dose of the shingles a couple of years back. I do not recommend them.
