  1. That baby could have been my wife back in Viet Nam.
  2. This doesn't seem to fit anywhere so I'll place it here. A man with two pistols, including a Glock 22, wanted to fly from British Columbia to Ontario to participate in a shooting competition. It gets better. I mean worse. Read the story: Confusion leads to man bringing guns on Air Canada flight - CTV News
  3. Do you think the policemen's defense will be that the "perp" was making furtive movements towards the so-called bulge? Maybe that he was making bowel movements towards the bulge?
  4. I got one for that price off amazon.com. It is a large multitool, larger than my Charge. I like the bronze scraper on it.
  5. My wife carries her Glock 27 in a concealment purse.
  6. Main entrances are posted. The anchor stores are not. Seems like I always wind up entering through Dillards.
  7. I'm with Sarah on that one...
  8. I guess the common theme I've seen is how FEW people notice, not that I eyeball everyone around me. I'm getting more and more comfortable with open carry. Today I open carried at the Subway next to the Nashville Airport. I've only ever known three folks who noticed my Glock 23. The policeman talking on a cell phone leaning against the outside of a Target in Hendersonville (who never stopped talking on his phone but my wife said his eyes were doin' a Roger Rabbit), the manager of a Lenny's sub shop in Gallatin, and a fellow customer in Petco in Madison who talked with me briefly on how he didn't realize TN had open carry. None were negative encounters. Other places I've carried is NCG Cinema, Kroger, Publix, Walmart. As a pilot I travel a lot and have open carried in Wisconsin, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Montana, and Wyoming. I visited Yellowstone National Park and Gallatin National Forest this past year, open carrying. I like the comfort of it and the freedom to do it. As an instructor (flight) I enjoy the opportunity to educate interested people I encounter. I dress neatly and am super polite. I'm not one to really push boundaries, though (as I see it, of course): if I think the sight of my weapon is going to get me asked to leave I don't mind covering.
  9. I just sent this to Diane Black: I am disappointed in the Republican deal/agreement to avoid a "so-called" governmental shutdown. 38 Billion is peanuts, and caving on the Planned Parenthood issue has me feeling very disappointed in my Representatives in government. Why were the Republicans afraid of the "shutdown"? I am sitting here shaking my head feeling that the Republicans are weak in regards to standing up to the Democrats. That the Republicans did not understand the mandate the American voters sent this last election. I understand that this is only one part of government, BUT! Rest assured, if you are unable to be bold enough to save our country from the unbelievably destructive path we have set ourselves on (re: debt) I have no problem considering someone who is come next primary. I am so disappointed in the Representatives.
  10. Who's Kim Krada, um... Kardasians, ah, Kardashium? That girl?
  11. I agree. Not a legal posting but worthy of avoidance and notification of such to the owner. Seriously owners, a little education goes a long way.
  12. I don't share your optimism. In one of the two books (heck maybe both, I don't remember) "One Second After" and "Lights Out" a rogue nation attacks the US by launching 2-3 nukes for an atmospheric EMP burst over the continental landmass from a container ship(s) in the Gulf of Mexico. All that's needed is a simple delivery vehicle that is capable of pushing a package high enough to work. Who is the US going to retaliate against in the minutes it has to backtrace the boat(s)? I dunno, it doesn't seem inconceivable to me. Quite the opposite, it seems scarily possible, even likely. It is thanks to these to books (and to "Patriots") that I've started saving food for the long term.
  13. How could his post count be "0"?
  14. At the Depot Square Expo Center. Click this link, select the Gallatin show and get a dollar off coupon: Gun Show Listings ForTennesee
  15. That person would have forfeited his life in my household.
  16. Watched, immediately wanted to gorge myself in the nearest restaurant and start buying canned goods and bullets. I've actually started doing #2 and 3.
  17. From an NRA-ILA Alert via email: Tennessee Senate Expected to Address Veto Override on Thursday On Thursday, May 27, the Tennessee Senate is expected to address last week’s veto of Senate Bill 3012 by Governor Phil Bredesen (D). The Senate will consider overriding the Governor’s veto during the unfinished business portion of the Senate Calendar. Sponsored by State Senator Doug Jackson (D-25) and State Representative Curry Todd (R-95), SB 3012 would have allowed a person who has a valid right-to-carry permit to carry a firearm for self-defense in restaurants where alcohol may be served, as long as the permit holder is not consuming alcohol or is not otherwise prohibited by posting provisions. A veto override is critical, but due to rules adopted by the Tennessee General Assembly, the State Senate must address the veto override, before the House can take action. With only a handful of legislative days remaining in both the Senate and House, it is critical that the Senate take up the veto override Thursday. Please continue to visit the NRA-ILA website for updates.
  18. This morning on Ralph Bristol's show Susan Lynn said the Legislature WILL vote to override the Governor's veto this week. I hope so, it's the only week they have left!
  19. How might this affect the bill?
  20. No experience with the piston AR's, or 6.8. I do have a 5.56 CMMG that I ordered in two pieces (i.e. upper/lower) a few months ago. About 250 rds so far, no issues. The company delivered a great, quality rifle to me. The lower came in days, the upper within 10 days.
  21. Perhaps an "H" or "H2" buffer?
  22. I still remember where and when I had my first one, although in those days it came in a roll, like Rolos:
  23. I don't know the circumstances, but isn't this misleading? Could it include disparity of force (woman vs. man, man vs. several men)? Could it include home invasions? In either of those cases a person may use deadly force to defend themselves. The hand-wringing paranoids at the Tennessean might consult the success of other states who allow weapons where alcohol is served. Heck, some even allow the consumption of alcohol while armed. Where is the blood in the bars there? Where are the tourism deprivations?
