    I think the most obvious reason taking away people's guns doesn't work is because the law abiding citizens obey the law and criminals will not keep the law and keep their guns.

    I've had it happen twice with gas station purchases. One time it was $200 on my American Express, another time it was $600 on my bank card. All the while I still had my card. My cards were canceled and reissued and the money was reimbursed with no issues.

    Amazing how people built and engineered stuff back then. No computers or electricity to help and much of it is better made than stuff today!
