  1.     Actually, it's still a crime but 39-17-1308 has residence, place of business, or premises as a defense to unlawful possession. A car is actually the only place that it's fully legal for possession of a gun without having to have a defense to the law. It's crazy stupid how the law is written, and I would argue that 1308 is written in a unconstitutional manner since they can only legally restrict carrying, not possession.
  2.     I totally forgot that I had something like this happen last Christmas. I ordered a Thomas the tank engine Brio toy from a seller. It was slightly cheaper than the others and it looked good. Well, when I got it, it was obviously a fake because I had another of the real Brio toy and the difference was pretty noticeable in person, but not so much in the ebay pictures.  I reported it to ebay and was able to get my money back and keep the item. However, I was concerned about the materials used to make the item so I just threw it away and bought another one that was genuine.
  3. About 10 years ago we ordered a glass microwave plate (the glass tray that goes in the microwave) off ebay and it never came. When we filed with Paypal they said, "oh your too late, the guy has closed his account and we can't get your money back." I was pretty pissed. However, ebay and paypal have gotten much better about being on the buyer's side now and especially if they don't ship anything.
  4.     What's constitutional about carving out a special law that allows business owners to make a certain thing illegal if someone walks through their door with it? Our state constitution specifically says that all carry laws have to be done with a view to prevent crime and the posting law does not prevent crime.   I am not saying that business owners shouldn't be able to post, but it should not hold more weight than a "no shirt no service sign" or any other "no" sign. Trespassing laws cover all that fine and are the constitutional way to do it.   I agree that the state should make all government allow carry in government buildings if code 1359 was removed...but if we removed 1359 there would be no mechanism for governments to ban carry in any building because that's the law they currently use to do so, except for schools as that's covered in a different section. So to me, removing 1359 is the solution for solving a massive amount of issues with carry.   Btw, wouldn't business owners be in a special group themselves since they have 1359 carved out as a special provision to the law?
  5. Except you are breaking the law by passing a no weapons sign. You'd only be breaking the law if you refused to leave after asked under trespassing law. I think that is soooo much better. It's also constitutional for a change.
  6.     So if it was amended to remove section 1359 it wouldn't have to go before a committee again since that's a radical change? If it doesn't, why wouldn't more people do a bait and switch for bills so they can get stuff around committees? Heck, why aren't we doing that more?!
  7. Sold a phone on Swappa in late Nov. Shipped it USPS Priority Small Flat rate box. Two weeks later the guy asked for a refund because it never arrived. Looked up the tracking number and it said it was sent to lost mail because it could not be delivered. That's right, they could update the tracking number that it couldn't be delivered but from that number they couldn't lookup where it was going or where it should be returned to. Filed a find request and two weeks later got a notice that they had received my request. Filed an insurance claim a week later. Two weeks ago I get a denied claim request. I promptly filed an appeal with the response of, "Either find my package and return it to me or pay the claim." Guess what arrived the other day to my utter shock? A check for the claim. Of course, since I hadn't insured it for more than the stock $50 included, I only got $50 + the postage back for a phone I sold for $100. But $50 is better than $0. Yeah, USPS sucks.
  8.   Love seeing this in it:   Decrease State Revenue – Exceeds $1,909,000/Handgun Permit Division Decrease State Expenditures – Exceeds $1,909,000/Handgun Permit Division
  9.   If people want property rights, then they need stop opening their property to the public. The list of "rights" they give up when opening property to the public is pretty wide already, I honestly don't see why not adding this. Besides, our state Constitution doesn't give the legislature or property owners the right to restrict carry with criminal punishment.  The legislature has unconstitutionally given property owners something they are not allowed to do. Post? Yes. Post with criminal penalty? No.
  10. WHATTTTTT? Where did you read that?
  11.     Even if you posted a no weapons sign you could still be sued and found liable depending on the situation. You open up yourself to liability no matter what the law says when you have a business that is open to the public. It's just the way our screwed up legal system is.
  12. Could you not make a mold from a real one and then pour a casting? Should be pretty easy to do with aluminum. I've seen videos for mold making on the internet along with melting and pouring aluminum.
  13.     That is a little strange as it is a CDMA SIM since the Sprint phone would have required a CDMA SIM. Yeah, not sure how the Ting SIM has been working on Straight Talk. ST is often times weird in getting phones to work through them. Wish I could help more.
  14.     Okay, when you say your SIM card, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean your US Cellular SIM card, or do you mean the new Straight Talk CDMA Sim card? Are you sure Straight Talk set you up for the verizon CDMA network and not the GSM network? (which your phone won't work on.)
  15. How do you divide 0%?
  16. So do you all have any flashlights you like that are under $25, use AA's, and are LED? If you look on Amazon there are a ton that fit the bill, but the quality seems to all over the place and even the highly ranked cheap ones (under $15) still have a ton of, "the power button stopped working after 1 day to 2 months" reviews. I had a really nice ($80+) EagleTac flashlight that I lost last year (sickening, but hoping it's still around the house somewhere) and still have a Mini Maglite that I caught on clearance for $10 that I really like. But I want if there are some other brands I could explore. The good brands I know of right now are EagleTac, SureFire, Fenix, & Maglite. Any other brands/models you all would suggest I look at? Multiple modes are nice, but not really necessary.
  17.     Not sure exactly what we gave up. The prohibiting subjects of permanent protective orders, from my understanding, was already the law under federal law. And adding troopers at gun shows to do voluntary BG checks doesn't seem like losing anything. I would describe it as the VA Gov being thirsty and winning two empty buckets.    But don't think that the VA ledgslature may not still come back in a few months and hit him with some pro gun bills as payback. He did a really stupid stunt to win nothing but more enemies.
  18. I believe he was referring to welfare as a gov job. I may be wrong but thats how I read it.
  19.     My 4, almost 5, year old twins are exactly the same way because from pretty much age 1 we taught them not to touch firearms and if you find one find an adult first thing. Ignoring reality does not make kids safer, teaching them what to do when they encounter certain things does.
  20. Hey dropping the lifetime from $500 to $200 is a step in the right direction. There are also two constitutional carry bills which ain't all that bad. No bills that I've seen so far to remove -1359 entirely though...
  21. I put a creamc heese danish, which was in plastic like, that up on the dash of my truck one spring and left it for a month and a half in the cold and baking sun. It looked no different when I threw it away than when I first picked it up. Scary

    SNOW!!

8:30 in West Knox and calling it a dusting is being pretty generous. I figure it'll be about 3" by morning, but I also would not be surprised to wake up to only still a dusting.
  23. If anyone is near west knox and has cut up hardwood, I'll come haul it away. If I have to cut it, I might as well just cut down the 10 dead hardwoods I have on our property. We heat just with wood, so I go through a ton each year.
  24. So her didn't actually threaten anyone there or pull out the gun or anything... So no one was harmed but the guy was arrested. What exact crime actually happened. Oh right, possession...
  25.     Exactly! That's why I don't understand why Oh Shoot is saying that we should just leave 1359 in place. It's far better, and actually aligns the law with state constitution, to remove 1359.
