Any word what the issues with the meeting were about?
-
http://wate.com/2016/09/22/shooting-reported-at-mcminn-county-factory/ They are now reporting that the shooter had an HCP and it sounds like he left the meeting angry, went out to his car, got his gun and came back and shot his two bosses who were in the meeting. So I am sure the anti's will just love this story.

24 hours and WATE is the only news source in Knoxville that has reported the mistake. Yeah, the media has no agenda...

I thought you were going to be talking about twins like this.... (and yes, I have two pair of twins...all girls!)

AG says that events (the leasing of said land) doesn't allow for parties to post park property: https://www.tn.gov/assets/entities/attorneygeneral/opinions/op15-063.pdf

Knoxville Allowing Fair to Prohibit Guns in a Park
macville replied to Just2Honor's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
But I'd bet they say that the sign would apply-in fact they should because if it doesn't, it means the park falls under the parks law. So how can the police threaten trespassing when you are doing a perfectly legal activity and broken no laws? Are they in fact admitting that it is a park because otherwise it wouldn't be a charge under traspassing, but 1359. -

I also love how Haslam and AG Slattery are sitting this one out. Isn't it their job to make sure the state laws are enforced? Why should citizens have to be the ones suing to get our laws enforced? -
Knoxville Allowing Fair to Prohibit Guns in a Park

BTW, does anyone know what the listing at the fair banning guns/weapons looks like? Does it meet the requirements that went into effect July 1st? We know the sign was only posted a week ago, so it would be required to meet the new requirements. -
Knoxville Allowing Fair to Prohibit Guns in a Park

Actually, according to the AG's opinion from last year, a ban at the civic coliseum wouldn't fly either as it's a recreational venue. So even if chilhowee isn't a park, you can't argue it's not a civic/recreational venue. I'll be shocked if the lawsuit doesn't end in our favor, but the mayor and KPD chief aren't probably going to even get a slap on the wrists. They should be serving jail time already after last year refusal, but ya know... -
TN 2016 Special Legislative Session
macville replied to 300winmag's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
No, they are too busy kicking out someone who hasn't been convicted of anything and denying the 14th amendment rights of those under 21 because they want to keep sucking on the federal gov teet.- 1 reply

I believe birdshot doesn't go more than a few hundred yards. Even if it does, it's very harmless. I know hunters from church that said they've been rained on with birdshot from 200 yards and it's nothing (rained on, not shot straight at.)

Because it would be so difficult to pop the clueless security people working the detectors and walk right in.... I am getting really sick of the security theater that is 100% ineffective. It's just like what they've got a dollywood now. I could easily sneak a rifle in two pieces in without my effort. A handgun in a holster super easy. It's all about feelings rather anything that would do some good.

Handgun Carry Permit Improvements
macville replied to 300winmag's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You could remove -1359 entirely and youll do exactly the same thing. property is already covered by trespassing laws so no need to repeat the same thing. make it simple. -
I don't think the issue is protesting, it's the fact that they are restricting free movement of people. They have no right to intentionally restrict my movement on public streets/sidewalks, and as others have shown, is illegal in TN. Look at at the attitude/dress/actions/language of how MLK Jr lead protests and how these people do and you'll see why so many people, like myself, have issues with these protests.

I got two SSD's at a good price plus saw multiple other deals that were good-like the segway mini for $699 ($300 off). I am with a guy right now who's company product he said was being sold below their production cost. So they are doing some loss leaders.

Except remember that it's very easy these days to commit a felony on things that shouldn't even be a crime.

I wrote my rep with the same argument and his reply that the equal protection under the law had to do just with slavery/racism...even though only a handful of the 100+ SC cases addressing equal protection had to do with race issues. It's frustrating when politicians don't understand that the full constitution applies to ALL the people.

I love my DSA Arms FAL. It doesn't have a ton of kick because it's heavy and it's a great tack driver considering it's a semi-auto. Opening it up to clean is soooo simple too.

Kinda like people who buy a car and never change the oil or have the tires rotated?

No issues burning in my old stove insert. There is no wood you can't burn in an insert (not counting treated wood!) it just depends on how much ash/tar you want to deal with.

You can ship rifles through USPS to ffls (not sure about in state to someone or to yourself ) but you cannot ship handguns via USPS, only ffl's can. When shipping ups or FedEx you are supposed to ship via the fastest method (normally priorty overnight) but that's their rule, not law. The whole shipping of firearms is messed up.
-
If it's not an actual firearm you don't have to say anything to the shipping company. Btw, never go into a ups store and have them pack stuff because you will pay a very high list price. There is a way to use papal to ship ups at the eBay discount rate (10-15% off list)

Considering the TN constitution doesn't allow the restriction on purchasing of arms, how does the state get away with having the TICS? I kinda understand carry permits under "with a view to prevent crime" (though, I could easily argue that it clearly does not prevent a single crime) but there is no such language that allows for any restrictions with regards to keeping (purchasing) arms. Could this maybe be submitted to the AG as a question to get some momentum in the correction direction?

So who was it I saw right after Noon in the White SUV with the TGO tri-hole sticker at the Farragut Kroger today? I pointed your car out to my wife, but she had no clue what I was pointing out.

The problem is for personal taxes, it's not easy to figure what exactly your dividends are going to be. Sometimes companies make a good profit, but don't spit out much in dividends due to other business situations and sometimes they do. It's hard to plan for that with how our economy bounces around like a ping pong ball. Heck, last year TN had a huge windfall in sales tax revenue that they were not expecting. If a government can't see that coming, how is the common person supposed to know if their stock is going to pay no, little, or a lot of dividends? You can try and separate me from my business all you want, but in reality I am the owner of the corporation and the sole money maker for it. Yes, it's a separate entity, but it's still owned and run by me-it's all my money period. It makes far more sense tax wise at the end of the year to take dividends instead of upping my salary and paying FICA, state unemployment, and federal income taxes. The flat 15% federal is not great, but that's lower automatically than just the FICA by itself. But when you start adding in the Hall tax, it starts to become much more unattractive. Plus, why should the state single out ONE form of income for taxation? If I pay hall tax on dividends I still pay sales tax on that money that's already been taxed! How is telling someone, "because you make more money we are going to treat you differently" not a punishment? I am in the mind that taxation is thief, so if we are going tax people, it better be very little and for a darn good reason. When looking at all of this, I consider the golden rule of "treat others how I want to be treated." I don't want to be taxed very much at all, so I don't want to do the same to to others-no matter their income level.
