  1. I am correct in saying that if you go to the post office, you can leave the gun in the car and still be legal? Or are you supposed to have it unloaded when you pull into the parking lot? Matthew
  2. I got my yesterday, July 2d, and I submitted my app/fingerprints on June 5th. Pretty excited since the 2d is my anniversary and my wife and I had bought new guns which we picked up yesterday also. Matthew
  3. Actually, isn't it a waste of OUR (taxpayer) money since the lawsuit will have to be defended by the state? Seems like if the idiots lose, then they should have to pay the state for their lawyer bills. Matthew
  4. How about instead of focusing on things we have to grow and are subject to a bad crop year, let's focus on using solar energy... Last time I checked it's far more consistent. Matthew
  5. I 2'd coal creek. I had to deal with David @ CCA the other day on this very issue b/c I had sold a gun over the internet and the other FFL would not accept a handgun unless it comes from another FFL. He an another guy at CCA were complaining to me how the idiots at the other shop didn't understand the law about unlicensed persons being able to send firearms... Matthew
  6. There's already something kinda similar being proposed. It's called the FairTax. End retail business is the only one collecting taxes, and the states submit all the money to the Fed. People can say they don't want to be taxed any more by only buying the basic items they need. Matthew
  7. Why don't we just drop SS and go to this system instead? Maybe you wouldn't be able to withdraw it until you are 62, but you'd have control over what you invest in. And if you die before 62 or before all the money is gone in it, then it is passed on to your heirs. I mean, all SS currently is a really bad insurance plan. I much rather INVEST money than pay an absurd amount of money for a worthless product. BTW, while my plan would be better than what we've got right now, it's STILL unconstitutional and a bad idea. Our Fed gov is only supposed to be there to protect all the states from other countries, each other, and provide a postal service. Your life is supposed to be what YOU make it. Not what the hardworking person down the street is forced to do for you. Matthew
  8. So I happened upon this article tonight on Foxnews.com which is an AP story. "Arizona Moves to Allow Concealed Guns in Bars" Arizona Moves to Allow Concealed Guns in Bars - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com It's not a total one sided story as it's got a restaurant owner that totally supports the bill. However, it's got this guy who while is a total moron and slandered permit holders did make me laugh (see bold for what made me laugh!) It would be nice if these people would understand the statistics on how permit holders are the most law abiding group of people (right after the Amish;)) Matthew
  9. WRONG!!!!! It would not allow *ANY* person to carry. It only allows HCP holders to carry legally. Gad, how hard is it to understand the law? Or is it people *lie* because they want people to think things that are simply untrue?? Does anyone have an email address for this joker? Matthew
  10. I think it's absurd that a non-violent felon (Martha Stewart is one of them) who has completed their sentence shouldn't be allowed to have a gun. Heck, I don't remember the Constitution saying anything about restricting who can have guns.... (and yes, I know it's not good for mental patents or violent criminals to have guns, but where we've gone is absurd.) Matthew
  11. Wasn't there something that came out that two of these guys admitted of going to a terrorist training camp? Matthew
  12. You are talking about Ober Galtinburg. No, it's not in the park. While the road to go up to it is near the park entrance, you'll know when you are going into the park since there is a giant size. One warning though, if you take the bypass around Galtinburg, it goes through the park. As for Dollywood, I was there to video Dolly today for a job with her library foundation and noticed that they don't search you. It's listed on their website that weapons are banned, but I never saw any legal postings, or even the crappy x'ed out gun signs. While I felt safe there the entire day, none of their guards carry a firearm and are almost a little too helpful when going back where park guests are not supposed to be (I was supposed to be able to go back some places where I did, but none never asked me why I was back there, they were just SUPER friendly) Matthew Matthew
  13. The requirement for my class (at Coal Creak Armory in Knoxville) was 12 shots and 3, 7, and 15 yards. Then, 12 shots at whatever we liked. The requirement, I believe, is 37 out of 48 shots have to be within the number circle (sorry I don't know what that's called). You can't just hit the black part of the target. It's pretty easy to pass. I don't think I am a very good shot and I only had 4 shots outside the 9 range. Of course, the guy next to me had a snub noise .38 and he was all over the target--but I believe still 100% in the "counting" area. Let's put it this way, my wife has shot a handgun maybe 4 times in her life (no more than a 20 rounds at a time), and she passed with HIGH flying colors. Matthew
  14. I think if metro bans handguns, then restaurants should be required to provide an off duty officer--not the government. That way, the restaurant will lobby to remove the law also. The silly part is restaurants HAVE THE RIGHT to post the no carry sign if they don't want someone carrying. Why is it the government's job to tell them what they can do on their PRIVATE property? Matthew
  15. But since the FEDERAL Constitution says our rights shall not be infringed, it seems like that part of the TN Constitution is unconstitutional.... If that's not the case then why can't we in TN write in our Constitution that you don't have freedom of speech, the police can search without permission or a warrant, or that they can force you to talk...among other things. Matthew
  16. I don't know that he's really against us. The mayors gun thing did sound good in principle. It's good to keep illegal guns out of people's hands. Heck, if the TGO had written that statement, then it would have been more than fine, but since Bloomberg wrote it, it's crap. I would still like to see him asked more about gun control. Maybe ask where he stands on the Restaurant and Parks bill? That would be a good sign where he actually stands. As far as other issues, he's pretty conservative. Supports business and has done a good job at making things more efficent here in Knoxville. The Lt. Gov also is an interesting canidate. I don't really know much about him but would like to learn more since he supported the Restaurant bill. Matthew
  17. I haven't talked to Ryan Haynes about voting for the override, but I am 100% sure that he will be in favor for it. If he doesn't vote for it, he knows he'll be hearing major flack from me about! Matthew
  18. What about Haslam? I feel like he's done an outstanding job with the City of Knoxville, and know really well how to run a business. Of course, he may look amazing because Mike Ragsdale, the Knox county mayor is so totally incompetent (actually, he's just your normal elected official!) Personally, I don't trust Wamp. Looking at his history and some dealings with him, I believe that he will say whatever people want to hear to get elected. ZERO principles as far as I am concerned. Matthew
  19. East town (Knoxville) wal-mart had at least 15 boxes of 9mm when my wife went by. Since we were able to get 3 boxes the other day, she only picked up 4 since we had gotten 3 the other day. Got enough now for me and my wife to practice with before we do the HCP class & test next week. Matthew
  20. If you read other articles about that case, I think you find out that mother was exaggerating, she knew he had been doing crap, and he was not denied anything legally that you would normally have a right to. But if you scream crap like "Patriot act", you will get more media attention and she knew that. Matthew
  21. Don't look now, but sadly the republicans are already dems. At least it seems like the majority are. Think of last year's election. McCain, Rudy, Alexander, etc.... Neil Bortz on Friday said that the problem with Republicans is the Pro-Life people. I don't believe that's the case. It's the moderates who SAY they are Pro-Life and therefore get Pro-Lifers votes without thinking. Personally, I am very Pro-Life, but I think it's better to be more about the Consititution because the idea of not killing babies is built into into it (you know, the right to LIFE, liberty, and justice.) What I really want to see is NORMAL people (AKA, non lawyers & bankers) run for office. If someone was to challange Alexander or Corker who was truly a normal citizen, I would do all I can to get them elected. I just want to see people run whos first words out of their mouth is, "it's about the Consitution stupid!" All the conservative values (smaller gov, low taxes, etc.) are basically THE consitution. Maybe we should change our logo from an elephanpt to just an image of the constitution?! Matthew
  22. You gotta love how you can be trusted at wal-mart, or now applebees. But on school grounds....nooooo we gotta protect the kids! What a load of bull. If you can't be trusted one place, then you shouldn't be trusted any where. Of course, logic and common sense has not been taught to our kids for at least the last 100 years. Matthew
  23. If it were between him and Lamar for Lamar's seat, I'd vote for him... Matthew
  24. Uhhh...didn't the Southern states start the secession illegally? Really, I can see both sides of the argument for the civil war when it comes to slavery. No where in the Constitution does it say it say rights are for whites only. Since it doesn't, I would say that slavery was unconstitutional. At the same time, I understand that we don't want the Feds getting into our business when they don't have the power or going after the states for something that is constitutionally allowed. Matthew
  25. Funny, I don't remember the Constitution saying that there is this "different class of people" (like Levites in the Bible) that would be allowed to bear arms while the rest of us wouldn't.... It's funny that a lot of officers are all for people being able to carry, but police chief's are against it... Matthew
