  1. Thinking about this more today, what really irks me is that these people are not "uneducated" (no college education) like miners or many factory workers. These are people who went to college, got a degree (not necessarily in something that was worthwhile though), and now are leeching off me. These are people who SHOULD be smart enough to figure out how to make a living-even if it's not in their "field of study." I know many people who have VERY usable degrees (not art history and other crap like that) who can't find a job, so they have gotten jobs in other fields for the time being. And hey, if you can't find a job in anything where you currently live...MOVE! Americans has lost their entire ingenuity in regards to making opportunities for themselves. Oh I lost my job? Well, I'll just collect gov money (MY MONEY) until the market comes back and companies rehire. The problem is....these companies aren't rehiring! The jobs lost are gone. If people think they are going to come back, they are in a dream world. But that's the view from people who don't run a business and understand what it takes to build such a business up and keep it running. We need to encourage people to either start their gray matter or leave us. This country WAS great at one point because people worked hard for their dreams and made things happen without waiting for others to do it for them. Matthew
  2. This really pisses me off. My wife works her butt off to cut coupons and shop sales so we can save alot of money. Here are a bunch of people who can't adapt to the changing world and they just expect to live off ME because I pay my taxes on everything. You know, until about a hundred years ago, these kind of people just died because they were too lazy to work. Now they live to a fat old age. The worse part is people who truly need the help fall into the cracks because jerks like these people exploit the system. Don't we have some MRE's from WWII we can give these people? Matthew
  3. Nope. 18. You just have to be 21 to buy from a dealer (federal law), so you have buy a handgun for a private party. Matthew
  4. So exactly how will the new strip search scanners be able to detect this kinda crap? Everyone should be given a gun when they get on a plane. That would the surest way to make sure the skies are safe. Matthew
  5. You know, getting your facts from VPC isn't always wise. Tell us the four cases or shutup Tennessean... Ummm...so I guess there are never any DD's to take drunk people home huh? I've been to "bars" many time and never had a drop to drink. Funny, haven't seen states like FL hurt by allowing carry where alcohol is served. Hasn't seemed to affect the other 40 states that allow it either. Prove it. Hasn't happened in the past 20-30 years where states have allowed carry out in public. Not sure why it would suddenly happen. Need I mention that cops tend to be even worse shots than most permit holders and love to sling a ton of bullets when they to fire. How is that better than ANY permit holder? Matthew
  6. Why don't one of us geniuses just email Todd and ask him what's up? Matthew
  7. That's interesting that that they think they are going to nail 30 HCP holders a year for walking past properly posted signs since I've yet to find even one case that was brought to trial that was about a permit holder walking past a properly posted sign... Matthew
  8. The mayor is an idiot. The entire ordnance is pre-empted by state law, and is really unnecessary because the state already bans most of those weapons from being carried. Matthew
  9. But you don't seem to get it. Under current legal law in Belle Meade, it's only legal to carry an army/navy pistol in the hand. Yes, they won't nail you if you have an HCP, but legally they should. So legally until they change their pre 1986 regulation, he has a defense. Matthew
  10. Yeah, that's what I was going to point out. 1308 says that it's legal to carry an unloaded gun if: (1) Of an unloaded rifle, shotgun or handgun not concealed on or about the person and the ammunition for the weapon was not in the immediate vicinity of the person or weapon; and 1314 says that no city or county can enact such an regulation unless it was before April 8, 1986. I would argue that what they are currently doing is updating an old regulation and therefore invalid with state law. So it would still be totally legal to OC in a holster or in the hand any UNLOADED handgun or rifle. It is amazing that GOVERNMENTS will blatantly go in the face the of the law...especially laws that are about as clear cut as 1308 and 1314 (*smack* oh wait, that whole second amendment thing about not infringing on our right to keep or bare arms...) Matthew
  11. I'm not talking about drinking while carrying. I'm talking about how hard they want to nail you for walking past a properly posted sign. Or maybe I am remembering the proposed law incorrectly. Drinking and carrying should carry the same penalty as drinking and driving (the same BAC should apply.) Walking past a sign and refusing the leave should be trespassing, but that's it. Matthew
  12. I talked with Rep Henry Fincher to let him know that I would really love to see the the new part about tougher penalties for carrying past a proper sign removed since it's absurd that drunk drivers actually commit a dangerous crime and have less of a penalty. His response: "I'll look into it - hopefully something can be done about that, too!" Matthew
  13. How much is the KCSO charging for the class? Couldn't find any info about it. Seems like since it's supposed to be a right to carry that each county sheriff should have to offer free classes...just an idea! Matthew
  14. I actually think he COULD care less. We are lucky has he has cared as much as he has...since he's getting us a much better carry law:) Matthew
  15. I agree with you that it would be nice to basically have their entire life seized. However, do you trust the gov to always be honest when applying the law? What happens when they decide to expand the law to other criminals? What happens when decide to take property for something as simple as a speeding ticket? Considering many states/cities are giving out red light tickets without confirming the driver (I was a victim of that), I just don't trust them that much. Matthew
  16. I think it's to make sure they can easily seize all property. What you said above basically only had to do with things that were used in the crime. What if the dealer had a cabin, or stocks, or what have you also that he bought with the drug money. I don't think they can seize that easily. This, I believe, would solve that. Of course, do we want the gov to be able to seize stuff that was bought with legally made money? I think it's fair to seize anything bought with drug money, but if they can't prove it was with illegal money, I don't think they should be able to take it. But that's just because they gov has shown me that they can't be trusted again and again and again (like maybe the current situation where some states are holding back on the income tax refunds they owe people....) Matthew
  17. Here's the key to this: Basically, what they want to do is make it legal to take ALL property from drug dealers--which right now is very hard. Yes, at surface level it seems stupid, but it seems to make sense when you look at it. We get money from them when they are being honest (not getting much I would bet) or we get all their stuff when they get caught. Seems good to me! Matthew
  18. Here's my suggestion. I got lucky and got it right by buying a SuperTuck as my first holster. I didn't realize how amazing of a holster it is until I just recently bought a IWB clip on holster to take with me to FL since I would be carrying a different gun than my normal one. Yeah, it sucks to buy because it's not very cheap, but you WILL NOT regret it (well, you won't once you try other holsters.) If you are an NRA member you can get a 10% discount from Crossbreed. Matthew
  19. True true. When I step onto an airplane the first thing I always do is try to figure out what I could use for a weapon if I had to stop a bad guy. I mean, what else am I going to do? Listen to their safety talk about landing on water when the flight is solely over land? Matthew
  20. You know, I don't think they probably meant to make it legal for someone with a HCP to carry a knife longer than 4", but I sure as heck think the law pretty clearly states that it's legal. In fact, I would say that because of the wording that carrying a club would also be legal without the baton permit as the HCP SHOULD be a defense to that. Amazing what the idiots we send to Nashville will write. Matthew
  21. No, under current law, they are legally banning ALL knives in the Knox City County building. The building is posted properly against all weapons. It's just under the current law you can kinda choose what's banned and what's not. However, under the possible new law it looks like everything defined as a "weapon" in 1301 will be banned no matter what. I think it's actually a good thing because if it gets passed and signed into law, we can talk about people bringing in simple pocket knives would be breaking the law in the same way we would be by carrying a firearm. Matthew
  22. Under the current law, all knives can be considered banned...at least that's what they require at the Knoxville City County building as even the littlest knife is banned. I don't know anything in the wording that changes that. PLUS, over 4" only has to do with intent to go armed. The proposed law doesn't say anything about "intent to go armed" and 1301 says that all knives are weapons. Therefore I would think that all knives brought in by people would fall under "no weapons" because they are weapons. Matthew
  23. I agree. But here's what I think. Personally, I am first and foremost for property rights. While I think it's horrible, I think property owners should be able to ban anyone for any reason (race, creed, whatever) from their property. It's their property and should only have to allow whoever they want on it. That said, since that's not the case and forced to allow all people all, then they should be forced to allow us with our firearms on to their property. It needs to be one way or another. Really, the only place I don't think people should be allowed to carry a firearm is in a jail/prison (almost more for your own safety) and in a courtroom (although, being allowed may lower the amount of people we'd have to jail because a loved one may shoot the perp and then probably wouldn't get much jail time for that because it was done out of "grief"). Matthew
  24. It also looks like they won't be able to ban just firearms which can kinda be banned right now. Since it has to contain the language which is in the code, and that language says "weapon" and not just firearm, it will mean that all knives will also be banned. That's gonna be hard for some places to post because it would drive away all your business, because let's be honest...you can kill someone with a swiss army knife just like with a gun. Of course, the only thing that may matter here is what is defined as a weapon? Under the current law even the smallest of pocket knives are a no go, or will it drop to the 4" and under knives being legal? Matthew
  25. Is there not some way to sue the CA over publishing information like this? The only way I can figure would be to sue for damages if you were robbed because the robber looked you up in their online database. Why can't we get a sealed law passed (or at least a law that doesn't allow you to publish such information and it costs a few $$$'s to get the info) Matthew
