Zimmerman gets $150k Bail, may get to leave FL
macville replied to Glock30's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I never said there wasn't a confrontation. But there are conflicting stories on what actually happened and who went up to who first. One of the stories I've heard was that GZ followed him a little and then walked away with TM then coming after him to confront. The other stories was that GZ went up to them and they had words. Who knows what's accurate with how the media has screwed with the truth multiple times...or just ignored any facts. -
Zimmerman gets $150k Bail, may get to leave FL
macville replied to Glock30's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Did any police report or Zimmerman himself say that he actually confronted Martin? I've seen conflicting stories from the media that Zimmerman actually confronted him first, or that Zimmerman was walking away and Martin came up and confronted him. I will disagree with what seems like most of vocal america that following martin was wrong. I've followed people on my road quite a few times (dead end street) because I wasn't sure why they were down my street (used to have an occasional problem when I was younger.) Even confronting him with a simple question of, "what are you doing around here" or "where do you live" seems very reasonable in a gated community (heck, most any where.) The only thing I would have done different is use my phone or ipod to get an audio recording before I would talk to someone. -
That's because 99% of people either don't notice or don't care! There is something about a holster that communicates "legal and safe" to people.

Employee Safe Commute (Parking Lot) Campaign
macville replied to Worriedman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I say that since our reps and senators don't seem to be interested to passing laws that would actually align our laws with both our state and federal constitution, we start suing over unconstitutional laws. Even if we ignore the fact that the 2d amendment is supposed to apply to the states as well as the federal gov, our state constitution only says that they have the power to put in laws that are with a "view to prevent crime." The posting law (-1359) can not and does not prevent crime. Neither does restricting carry in schools, parks, etc. And the permit system obviously does not stop criminals from carrying and using firearms. We need to get into court and get a win that won't make us rely on politicians for maybe throwing up a small, crappy bone. We need to get them to be forced to follow both constitutions. -
Gun Free Dining Tennessee Website
macville replied to GlockSpock's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Couldn't that be considered libel by a restaurant owner? It's saying something that's untrue that could affect their business. -
They may have no done this then, but I know 2-3 years ago when I had a bunch of business down there at the city/county building that they would check knives for you.
-
The Knox City/County building is posted and has metal detectors, but I am not aware if the Courthouse is posted or not. I am trying to get the commission to unpost any county own building.
-
I want to say that only applied to state parks, not local. Any local parks had to be posted if they banned them (except for Knoxville which had the pre-86' ban already and it asking for trouble for someone who thinks they are legal because there is no sign.)

Gunshot Heard Around the Gun Show
macville replied to Clod Stomper's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Except that the fairgrounds is evidently not considered a park by the city of knoxville. I asked Bill Haslam (mayor at the time) how they were doing gun shows in a city park when guns were banned and he found out for me that the city doesn't consider it a park (even thought the title says so.) Carry is totally legal in Chilhowee park. -
This is a very good bill because it looks like it would eliminate being able to post parking lots against firearms (aka: Malls and what not.)

It looks like that's just their PAC, which should be different than the actual organization. However, it has been my understanding that they are shrinking rapidly.

My parents live in south Florida and he worked for two years at a school that was mainly kids with parents on welfare and trust me, they have money that the government doesn't give them. All these kids had the name brand, latest fashion clothing. Plus, most had cell phones and the majority of those had smart phones. Money is not an issue for poor people when it comes to things they want. Even in TN it's not much different. Go into "poor" neighborhoods and look how many nice, new (built within the last 4 years) cars there. Or how many houses have satellite dishes. Heck, in fall 2010 I was working on a feature film in Nashville and while shooting in the projects (east side of downtown public housing) I saw so many signs of people taking my tax dollars for housing and food, but somehow found money to buy video games, TV's, cars, and all sorts of other crap. The worse was while we were there one day, one of the residents was having cable TV installed! I'm sorry, but if you don't have the money to pay rent or a mortgage, then you certainly don't have money to get cable tv. So the money is there if people wanted to not take tax dollars. It's just that their priorities aren't straight. And yes, that is a somewhat sweeping statement, but from what I've seen, that statement applies to the majority, not the minority.

Tennessee Felon Gun Rights Case
macville replied to Stegall Law Firm's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Oh yes they do. If you talk to your rep and senator, you will find that most laws are written by a lawyer or a lawyer helped greatly in writing the language. Also, consider how many lawyers are senators or reps and you'll see the lawyers are in direct control in writing laws. The other thing that this all hinges on is, what does "pardon" really mean. I've always understood it to mean a forgiveness that's like it never happened--never guilty. Where as commute meant you were still guilty, but the punishment was stopped. So if it was a pardon, then it should be like the guy was never a felon because the guilty verdict was taken away. -
Tennessee Felon Gun Rights Case
macville replied to Stegall Law Firm's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This seems really like a clean cut case. Man get pardon and is no longer a felon. Law says that felons can not possess firearms. Man is not felon and therefore can possess a firearm. No offense to you Mr. Stegall, or my father in law who is a lawyer, but lawyers make things far more complex than they should be just because they want job security. You look at what you could do 100 or 200 years ago without a lawyer and now you can hardly have any dealings with the government or another business without needing a lawyer. -
What foreign policy statements do you disagree with? There were many that I was "told" were his view, but in reality were either totally fake, or taken out of context.

Someone good is running against Corker!
macville replied to macville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm sorry, but gad, you people need to learn how to read. First, you should vote for her because this is what she boils down to: A real person who simply wants very little government in all aspects of our lives. I posted that in my message. Read, don't scan things or you miss information. Second, I posted the link to her facebook site because there is tons of info there. Look at her wall, the last post from this morning has a lot of information about what she believes in. And the background & Issues page, there's information on that just wait more than half a second to let it load. Third, please learn how to use Google. Simply googling her name gives you her website where she has an issues page. Here's the site: Welcome to Brenda Lenard For U.S. Senate Web site Sorry to be a little rude, but it's very rude to post questions that show that you didn't read the information which was clearly posted in the original post. I didn't want to hype you too much or feed you crap, I just wanted you to go to her facebook page and read it directly. Now that said, her stance on the 2d amendment is very strong. She's filling out the NRA rating form, working on getting her carry permit, and is going to a lot of gun shows to meet people (which has evidently been very positive for her.) When we talked about the 2d amendment the other night there was never any hesitation or dancing around the issues (she was very interested in the national reciprocity bill.) And to those who think we can do worse than Corker, I disagree. We've come to a point in our country where people like Corker and their "moderate" views are really allowing us to go down the crapper because even if they do stand up to the liberals (not that they do that very well), it hasn't gotten us going back on the right track. All they do is slow down the train, which is still on the wrong track. -
Hey gang, so if you didn't know already Corker's seat is up for reelection this fall. I don't know about you, but I do not like corker. He is simply another slimy politician who is not a true conservative. So I want to introduce Brenda Lenard as the person we should have as our next Senator from TN. Brenda Lenard For US Senate 2012 | Facebook The only thing stopping us from having Brenda represent us is US not telling our neighbors about her and why Corker sucks. I personally sat down with her for 2 1/2 hours the other night to talk about shooting videos for her campaign and felt like I was talking to myself. A real person who simply wants very little government in all aspects of our lives.

I would actually suggest a revolver over a semi-auto. I know that a semi auto might be nicer when considering amount of rounds, but a revolver can be loaded and shot entirely with one hand. I just see racking the slide on a semi auto difficult when a revolver requires very little effort. Just a thought. I would suggest the Ruger SR9c, but the slide is the heaviest slide I have ever felt. Too bad because it's a very nice, small 9mm.

Probably because this country was founded on Christian, or "Biblical" morals for the most part. Even the people who didn't believe in the Bible did share the same morals. If they didn't, they kept it to themselves unlike modern people that aren't happy unless they are shoving their immorality in your face. Personally, I believe that this country will never be great again unless we get back to more Biblical morals (families start staying together, hard work ethic, stop lying/stealing/cheating by people, etc.) This is the main reason that when we try to push our form of government on other people, it fails...because they don't share the same morals as us! The problem is that people don't have self limits. It's the mantra of, if it feels good do it-not considering what will happen when they do it to themselves or people around them. So it becomes, how do people be free, but not in everyone else's face with their decent into crapville.
