US AG Holder Tells Kansas Feds WILL Enforce Gun Laws
macville replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That link is only good for you. Other people can't use it. -
Never had an issue except for one time at Wild Wings Cafe in West Knoxville. It was after the law was passed the first time and WWC had posted (and wasn't carrying anyway since I was going to have a beer) and the lady said they wouldn't take it as ID. But every other place I've ever used it (served and non served) has accepted it no problem.

Since it is legal to try and detain someone in TN who is committing a felony, it's perfectly legal to go after someone and then shoot them in self defense if they threaten your life. That's not escalation. Maybe the manager was just going outside to see where he went? Don't the police say get as many details as possible? Be a good witness? Escalating normally has to do with breaking the law. Even if the guy hadn't committed a felony, if the manager chased after him within the law, it would not be escalating the situation because you have a legal right to be there.

Seriously? I see you all complain on here how the media is inaccurate and outright misleading and now you are taking a KNS (who have proven again and again they have an agenda) story at face value. How about reading a story with more detail from the time that had the DA office saying the evidence was showing there probably wouldn't be any charges: http://www.wate.com/story/21429981/robbery-suspect-shot-and-killed-by-dollar-general-store-manager-family-speaks-out We don't know the full story (mainly because in many cases it doesn't fit the media's progressive narrative), but it's fairly safe to assume that the guy did shoot in self defense and that's why he's not charged.

Another Fraud in the fight for gun control
macville replied to towerclimber37's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Won't let you post on the youtube without uploader approval. Let's just flag the video as fraud then. -
I had the same issue flying out of Knoxville back in February. TSA agent said they couldn't accept it but thought it was stupid because he also had a HCP and it was far more certain that it was actually me since I had to get a background check to get the permit. But here's where it's strange. On the way back I flew out of Ft. Lauderdale and the TSA agent accepted it no problem. Even looking at their acceptable ID's, a photo HCP is acceptable as it is a state photo ID. It just depends on who the idiot is in charge has "ruled" for their airport. So next time I fly out (in June) from Knoxville if they have issues, I am going to push back some.

Guys, remember that most of the time the "news" doesn't really tell you the whole story. There were other reports that said when the manager went out after the robber that the robber pointed a gun at him and that's why he shot (at least that's his story.) Of course the KNS would leave that out because it doesn't help their "guns are evil" motto. It's also quite easy to be shot in the back (I wonder how accurate that is and what's considered "the back") while pointing a gun at someone. Obviously, there wasn't enough evidence that the DA felt like he had a case. It will also show how good our self defense = no civil suite law is.

So I got my renewal HCP from the state the other day and noticed that the new one is quite a bit thinner and made from what seems like a new plastic. My wife's new DL that came back in March seemed thinner and a different kind of plastic also, but not quite like this. It seems like it's about the same as my keyring Kroger/Food City/Etc. shopper card. Has anyone else noticed this?

General Assembly Adjourns with Second Amendment Victories
macville replied to RED333's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
While SB142 isn't what we wanted, it still IS a good bill for us. First, when you come across a posted parking lot and it's not your employer, the posting no longer applies. Also, it allows for students (and confirms for non students) with HCP's to have their firearms in their cars. That is huge because now students can protect themselves much better than before. I don't see how that's not good... -
HCP holder records to be sealed.
macville replied to Randall53's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I would agree. The only thing that I see that might help us is that it doesn't say "from this day forward" this info shall be confidential. They had to put a date for preemption laws (july 1st, 1986 I think), so I would think they would have to do the same thing here if it wasn't retroactive. It would be kinda fun for the Commercial Appeal to fight to keep it and have the NRA sue and win! -

Sorry, the conversation about HB9 is going on in another thread. -
I know it's hard to believe, but CNBC is far more conservative than it's ugly sister, MSNBC. Of course "more conservative" IS a relative term...

Is the U.S. Capable of Self-Governance Any More?
macville replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Obviously the masses have been programmed educated to trust the government no matter what. So yeah, I kinda think we are past the tipping point. So let me just be king and we'll all be happier. -
Okay, so according to a news article, they passed HB0581 but it sounded like the only part of the bill that they passed was the preemption over local knife laws-though it kinda appears like >4" blades may be legal. Does anyone know how to find what actually was passed and was sent to the governor? Our idiot government can't seem to post something simple like, "this is what was actually voted on and passed."

What you describe doing is reckless driving. You are purposely trying to make them get close to you - which is unsafe and reckless. There is one thing to apply your breaks in a slow and steady fashion that slows down your car and gives the person behind (even if they are tailgating) and opportunity to safely slow down. It's entirely another issue to do what you do or to break check. All you are doing is committing an offense also. The other question you have to ask is, is the vehicle overtaking or passing another vehicle? It peeves me when people ride my tail while I am passing or overtaking another vehicle. It may not be as fast as they want (though rarely is it UNDER the speed limit), but I am following the law. Heck, I can stay in the left lane legally if there are other vehicles to overtake and I am actively doing so. The biggest thing is people need to learn to chill. It's hard (and I fail many times), but the roads would be much safer if both cars and trucks (trucks have gotten really road ragey between Knoxville and Atlanta the past few years) would just chill.

We HAVE to find a primary challenger for Alexander!!!
macville replied to dcloudy777's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There has, your just not paying attention. brendalenard.com She ran against Corker last time. Hopefully she can make some big inroads this time. BTW, she is VERY pro 2d amendment. -
We supposedly got a good deal in the 1986 bill that banned new machine guns and gave us travel protection. However, as we've found since then all the deal did was ban new machine guns and we really don't have travel protection in states like NY, NJ, etc. So no compromises because we won't actually get anything in return. All that would problem happen is the courts would knock down the little good we got and leave the crap. Plus, what good is being able to carry in all states if we get our guns taken away-which IS the real purpose no matter what the liberals claim they don't want to do. These people LIE LIE LIE-even so much as easily proven lies like Obama's "full auto rifle" use at sandy hook lie last week.

How is the '82 ruling not a violation of the 14th amendment? If the DNC can do it, then legally the RNC should be able to do it if it's actually true. Otherwise, the republicans are stupid for not suing to overturn it as unconstitutional.

So here's a survey of 15k cops on what they think of gun control and what would work: http://ddq74coujkv1i.cloudfront.net/p1_gunsurveysummary_2013.pdf Let's just say that it's pretty much the opposite of what politicians are proposing. There was one question about open carry that was poor due to it's choice of answers and another question that has me concerned that cops think you need to show proficiency to own a firearm, but most questions are <75% in gun right's favor.

Bill Oreilly arguing for registration
macville replied to superduty's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Everything I've heard from Rush lately has been very pro rights. I almost feel like he's gone closer being a libertarian than a Republican in the past 4 years. He's very pro tea party and has started to rail hard on the even moderately liberal republicans. -
Here's the thing. You have a bunch of people who have bought guns for the first time. They want to shoot them. You need ammo for that. The demand will go down some, but considering it's an expendable commodity, the demand is going to stay up there. Let's put it this way. The demand didn't go down that much during Obama's first term. It ain't going to lower anytime soon.

Georgia Carry Reciprocity Rules?
macville replied to SupaRice's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I don't know of any counties that can make their own rules in GA. GA may be screwed up in a few things (like no church carry), but otherwise you can carry almost anywhere. It's nice when I am down there for business because I don't have to search for "no gun" signs. -
They pull it out of a place where brown stuff normally comes out. They have no clue. There's no way to accurately tell. It's a guess (and from past examples, 99% of the time, a very poor one) because the numbers they base it off of are either incomplete, or rigged-like we've seen in the past.

Read the short article (and idiot comments by a real genius that I already blocked because you couldn't have a conversation with him) here: http://www.wbir.com/news/article/262964/2/Kroger-customer-says-teen-pointed-gun-at-her This is the Kroger right over the hill from my house that my wife and I (both permit holders and active carriers) shop at weekly. This is also the zip code with the highest density of permits according to the state. The girls are very lucky they didn't get shot for their stunt. The worse part is if a permit holder like me had shot them because a gun pointed at us, we would have had to live with decision to fire for the rest of our lives because of their stupidity with a stinkin' pellet gun.
