No, it happened to a buddy of mine and I am sure it happened. Why they are trying to enforce either a law that never was, or has been off the books for over 10 years is what concerns me. I firmly believe the LEO's should be as knowledgable as a lawyer if they are going to enforce the law, but evidently that's not really the case. But law enforcement seems to have their priority messed up these days when one of my friends, one of the owners of a local food chain here in Knoxville, came on to facebook to complain about how KPD didn't have the man power to really investigate the armed robbery that happened at one of their locations last month and I said that was strange since they have plenty of cops on the interstate writing tickets... I don't want to be anti law enforcement, but they seem to be more about ticket writing than protecting people these days.

So I looked up TN code because I believe the state has preemption for issues like this. TN 55-4-108 is the only thing that talks about signing a registration...and there's nothing actually in the law, it's just in the headline, "Signing registration certificate - Carried in vehicle or on driver's person - Display - Exemption" I think the law may used to require it, but was changed in 2003 or earlier and the headline has never been changed.
-
You sure about that.... Here is a scan I just did of my vehicle registration and no where does it have a place to sign. Are you thinking of the Title and not the registration?

So I had a friend post on facebook last night that he was pulled over by a KCSO Deputy for a headlight out. He was coming back from the auto parts store with the replacement headlight, so nothing happened on that front. However, the deputy told that his car registration was supposed to be signed. I even double checked my registration and no where does it say it has to be signed or even have a place for a signature. Where the crap does this kinda things come from in law enforcement officers? Is this something that should be reported to the sheriff so the deputy can actually be forced to sit down and learn the law?

It's good to know, but what exactly can any of us do about it? How do you ever tell if your phone is or has connected to a fake tower? Also add it the few police departments that, I believe illegally, are basically doing the same thing and all we are left with is that whispering to someone is about the only secure communication there is.

Close, but not quite how I understand it. Yes, it's two pairs, but the other difference is that ATT runs Fiber to neighborhoods and then runs DSL out to the houses. Before, DSL always went all the way to the station which is why it was limited to 6mbps and 3mbps in most cases. DSL can only run so fast so far, so they've basically moved the "station" closer to houses via fiber. We've had DSL for 10+ years here and now U-Verse for 1 and I believe because we live 1/2 mile down a lane we can only get 18mbps max. I don't mind the 12mpbs down, but it would be nice to have faster than 1.5mpbs up since I upload videos sometimes. That's totally a limit ATT sets, not that their network can't handle it.

Federally indicted man loses guns and ammo
macville replied to Hershmeister's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Why should someone who is convicted of something that has nothing to do with guns/weapons/violence lose their right to bear arms? At WORSE, when you have fulfilled your sentence for non weapon/violent crimes your rights should automatically be restored. -

How is that not a violation of the 14th amendment? Or is that just just like most of our other laws that ignore the constitution? -

When was the last time an "assault rifle" was legal to own in Maryland? Kinda hard to have any record of them being used in self defense if they've been illegal there for a long time, right? -
This isn't accurate. There are other types of screens still...like projection, but the others aren't popular. However, my main correction is that LED TV's are actually LCD TV's. The difference is that the traditional LCD has a florescent backlight while the LED models use LED's as the backlight. The advantage is a brighter backlight, more even light, and the LED's will last a lot longer. Honestly, if anyone wants the best color reproduction and picture quality, Plasma is the way to go. It doesn't show artifacts like LCD's do. Much better color rendition. And a much smoother picture. They supposedly only last 100,000 hours...but that's a crap load of hours. And yes, they are not supposed to be good where it's bright, but that's a load of crap. My Panasonic is in a room with huge windows and brightness has never been an issue. The anti-glare glass these days is great. Of course, it's harder to find a plasma these days and especially in larger sizes. So if you need 60"+ a LED LCD is the way to go.

I see you are Knoxville area, are you talking about JJ Jones? -
That's great, but not required. I am not saying it's right, but since the job is actually owned by the owner, it is their right to do what they want with it. Words, unless written down and signed do not make a legal contract. So if you've signed a contract for your job then you are not at-will. And who owns and run businesses??? People! The people who own/run businesses are a protected class and have rights as such. No, that's not statistics, that's just conjecture as your experiences doesn't prove anything statistically. It's the same reason people think that mass shootings are going up while in reality are going down. Who forced anyone to take a job? If you don't have a contract then obviously if, in an at-will state, you take such a job then you've agreed that you can be fired at any time for any reason. It's your freedom to take or not take the job in the first place!
-
So I guess you really don't like freedom do you? Why do people think jobs are their's? Any jobs is owned by the company. Yes, at-will will be abused by some, but you know what, freedom is always going to be that way. Stop feeling like anyone owes you anything.

Mongomery County: Checkpoint Planned for Highway 79 this Week.
macville replied to Ted S.'s topic in General Chat
I love how they creatively gloss over the fact that DUI checkpoints are no different, but they have no issues with doing those unconstitutional stops. -
It's 4k resolution, (5x 1080p resolution) that's why it's $40k. But there will be 4k projectors on the market soon enough for $10k and less.

No, you misunderstood. They can't use their pre 1986 ordnance to still ban parks like the City of Knoxville had been. They can still ban under the state law.

Permitless carry in vehicle
macville replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yes. The knoxville's park carry law was pre '86 so they didn't have follow the new parks law. However, this law preempts all local weapon laws, so now for knoxville to ban carry in their parks they would have to pass a resolution and post just like the rest of the state. But let's not point that out to them. -

Did the grandfather law pass and went to Haslam's desk and just wasn't signed? I missed what happened on that bill. -
What is a "weapon" for TN school carry?
macville replied to macville's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Here would be my argument against that though... a shooting taser is like a firearm, but a contact one, along with pepper spray aren't like anything that's listed in the law. And something like pepper spray can't cause permeant damage, where as all the items they list can. I think this is an issue we need to bring up so at least teachers/college students can have some protection. Obviously, pepper spray has been proven to help (although, he did tackle the shooter with some other guys, so it wasn't just the pepper spray) so maybe start with making that legal. Of course, you could use the same argument about firearms... -
‘Open Carry’ Gun Fight Moves to Target Stores
macville replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Ok, so I looked through the pictures and the only poor muzzle discipline I saw was one of the group pictures had a guy with the muzzle pointed down on his shoe-which I think is careless, but the only person he could hurt would be himself. I think what you are seeing is people stacked up so with a quick glance it kinda looks like the muzzles are pointed at people. However, if you actually look at the depth of people, you notice that the muzzles are always pointing clear of people. Please don't spread fud around if you won't take the time to actually examine the pictures carefully. Honestly, I don't think it's helping our side by attacking these guys because it's just giving the antiguners more ammo. What they are doing is legal and they have so far done it in a safe manner (no negligent discharges, etc.) We should respect that and maybe not agree with them, but keep that private. -
So first off, I am thankful for people like Jon Meis who kept his wits and stopped a murderer before he could kill more than one person. But it got me thinking about our state (and FL since my parents teach there) in regards to carrying self defense tools. Mr Meis used pepper spray to slow/stop the attacker, then he tackled him (that's my understanding from the reports.) So I was wondering if things like pepper spray are considered a weapon in TN. This is what I found in TN on what you cannot carry on school grounds So would pepper spray be considered "any other weapon of like kind"? Would a shooting taser or a contact taser be considered a weapon?

There, I fixed it for you. Just because your car goes into a shop doesn't mean it gets reported. Considering that that the truck I just bought 3 months ago went through our great East TN hailstorm in 2011 and had no reports of the repair on the truck just shows how inaccurate carfax can be. It doesn't hurt to get one, but don't expect it to be 100% accurate.

Anyone ever order ammo from MunireUSA?
macville replied to Wingshooter's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Ok, why does your post seem a little strange when I consider it's your only post and it's raving about one company... -
Here's the thing, we could simply repeal -1359 and have it already like that. I am kinda surprised that the OK law is written this way, because I am betting their trespass laws already cover it.
