  1. Well this will be a moot point-lol. I have some winter hiking boots from when I lived in CT. Not only were they warm, if it was over 40 out they were too warm. But the best part was the sole. Super soft rubber to grip the ice and snow. If I was walking on asphalt they actually felt squirmy. But good luck with your new setup, sounds like it will work fine.

    Snow

Back then we were able to use them from Nov 1st to April something

    Snow

Not surprising, not many folks in New England know how to dive in snow and ice either-lol. When I was a kid my father owned a gas station/repair shop. For all of Oct and Nov all we did was stud tires. 95% of cars back then were rear wheel drive. You werent going anywhere without studs.

    Snow

Gotta say I had a good chuckle reading this thread, after living most of my life in CT. For those that dont particularly like the way other folks seem to be moving here to TN (among other warmer, southern states) , picture the weather you have had for the past week or so lasting from November to April, only with a lot more snow. I remember a winter a few years before we moved that we seemed to get a blizzard every week in Jan and Feb. My mailbox was actually hidden by the snow for a week, had to dig it out when I was shoveling. The fact that I worked outside was the prime motivation for moving south. Moving here was the first time I moved without packing a shovel and snowblower-lol. For some strange reason my area only got a few inches of snow, I hear Knox got 10+ inches.
  5. Not sure if anyone mentioned Ed Brown. I recently picked up a stainless EVO and its fantastic. They are semi-custom, made in batches.
  6. Older Kimbers are nice. And Sigs from what I hear. I happen to like Dan Wessons a lot, they are a great value.
  7. I agree with this wholeheartedly. I carry everywhere. Being 5-10' and 180 lbs, I carry a Kahr PM9, or a P380 in the summer. I just have this 'thing' about printing. And anything bigger just gets uncomfortable for me. But I also have several IWB holsters that I love and are super comfy. Thats the key. I can forget I have a gun with me at times, my carry guns are that comfortable. Even when hiking or working in the yard. I'm not that concerned about how many rounds I have. I'm not PD, probably not gonna get in a shootout-lol. My 7+1 plus extra mag is enough for me. I also have an EMP. I have carried that when out hiking and I like it a lot. A Sig P938 also. But for a dedicated carry piece I'll take striker fired. Had a PCR and while it shot great it was too bulky for me to carry all the time. Choose what feels best to you, gun AND caliber.
  8. Wondering how this turned out?
  9. Yes thats the place. The guy there helped me load the safe onto my truck, we used cardboard on the truck bed and it went in SOO easy. I was surprised how much harder it was to get the damn thing out-lol.
  10. I bought a Champion Victory safe a few years ago. Some place in the Knoxville area, I dont remember the name. Discount Safe, or something like that. Supposedly a $1500 safe, was on sale for $800. Weighs 650 lbs. I picked it up in my truck and my wife and I moved it into the house without 'too much' trouble-lol. I have to agree with the philosophy that any safe is better than none, even a cheapo one. However I love reading those articles about hiding guns in the house. Especially the trick about using an old water heater hollowed out, with a couple fake water lines coming out of it. You put it on a revolving lazy susan or something, and have a door cut in the back of it.
  11. Funny you ask. I would always buy whatever was on sale at the gun store when I went, so I had a mish mash of all different kinds of .22 ammo. But since each gun has a preference, it was hard to remember what ammo shot well in what gun. So 2 years ago I sold all my .22 ammo, and bought a case of Federal Auto Match.
  12. Well, heres mine Green Mtn 18.5" fluted stainless barrel Power Custom adjustable trigger Nordic Components receiver, which uses real AR hardware I have a 75yd range in the backyard, and this thing will shoot 1 ragged hole if I do my part Well dang, my photo is too big I guess
  13. I've used regular rubbing compound with great results.
  14. To the OP Dont forget, muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are lifting weights a lot, just because the scale might say 5 lbs less than you want, you might be in better shape than you think. Personally, I dont go by weight, I go by how my pants fit-lol.
  15. CZ 455 thumbhole varmint with a big-ass scope And one of the coolest 10/22's around. Aftermarket trigger, barrel, and a Nordic Components kit that lets it take real AR handguards, grips and stocks.
  16. I have an FNP like that, gotta say I like it
  17. Back when I lived in CT and had my FFL, I had bought a Model 37 nickel, the airweight. The trigger was very notchy, it was bad enough that I sent it back to them to look at. When I got it back, not only was it super smooth but it felt like they gave it a nice trigger job, the ppull felt a lot lighter. But the best part was, they polished, or buffed out the gun and it came back looking like polished stainless. Glad to hear the company is still taking care of its customers. And I still have that revolver.
  18. So here is something I dont really understand about a de-cocker. All my CZ's (and others) are the safety models, and I just lower the hammer by hand if I want to de-cock it. But I still have the safety to use. With the de-cocker models, thats all you have. I feel like I'm getting more for my money-lol.
  19. I like the Kahr guns. DAO so the trigger is heavy but VERY smooth.
  20. My first CZ was a PCR about 10-12 years ago. Got it in a trade, so I dont know what work had been done to it. I didnt even know about Cajun and CZC back then. What I DO know, I shot it with my son one day, and also brought my Sig P226 Legion. That PCR shot circles around the Sig. After that I've been a CZ fan. I always wished I kept that PCR. Ive had 2 since then, but both stock and neither shot as well as that first one.
  21. Or a PCR
  22. I will say this about private sales. I moved here from Connecticut 4 yrs ago. In CT, private sales are only allowed between permit holders (well, legally). However, anytime someone would ask me to sell them a gun without having a permit, I'd always think this could be a set-up by PD or ATF and I never did it. Not to say others might have, but it wasnt worth the risk. Some guys were pretty persistent-lol. Saying they had applied for the permit but it wasnt in yet, and/or offering several hundred more than my asking price. We have it good here in TN by the way. In CT to do a private sale, both parties have to call the State Police with their permit #'s while they are together doing the buy, or swap. (And sometimes the lines are very busy, or even down. One guy wouldnt do a deal with me because we couldnt get thru) You are assigned a transaction # which goes on the paperwork that has to get sent to the local PD of the buyer, and seller, and another copy to the State Police. God I love TN-lol.
  23. Theres one now on Armslist in the Tri-Cities. He wants top dollar for it though.
  24. Another vote for the KORE belt. Its a ratchet belt, so small adjustments are easy and fast. And they come very long, made to cut to size yourself. You could keep it long and cut as you need. Plus, as you cut it, you are using a new section so the ratchets dont wear out. I dont even use the gun belt, just their regular belt. Which works great for a 380 and 9mm. Just got a new one actually, the first lasted 5 years and they are only about $40.
  25. Here is a big reason for this problem. There are no consequences for breaking the law anymore. Maybe a slap on the wrist.
