  1. I'm not the best shot around, but I shoot a lot of guns in my backyard range. Almost always offhand. The gun that shot the best groups for me ever was a Canik TP9SFX
  2. Wish you were closer
  3. This is me exactly. I got on a fire dept in CT late in life at age 31, but since I had several jobs before that that I hated, having a job that I enjoyed made me happy. If you've ever had a job you hated, it affects you even when you are not at work.
  4. I seal driveways once in a while, just for some spending money. I can stay busier if I want, but at this point I'm picky about the ones I do. I like to ask the homeowners how they came to pick me to do the job, seeing as how others in the area do it also, and usually the answer I get is, "You showed up".
  5. Its a moot point since he already bought another bike-lol. Spots- I already have that gun.
  6. I have learned a bit about these guns just googling. I thought the frame was polymer, but apparently its a steel frame with a polymer grip. And that is what was replaced with an aluminum one. I also learned that grip module is over $500. I'd obviously want to know who the gunsmith was, and shoot the gun before making a deal. Though it looks like the parts alone might be worth it. I'm assuming he has all the old parts also.
  7. The likely scenario is that I will shoot that gun a few times, then sell it. Im hoping it will sell faster than the bike. Here is the info about the mods It has a PT Hero Aluminum Grip, Atlas perfect match ignition kit, SVI disconnector, Atlas Medium Trigger pulling at 3.0, SVI Ambi Safety, Fresh Cerakote, 2-17rnd, 1-20rnd extended, 1-18rnd Atlas TTI base.
  8. Someone wants to trade me a customized Prodigy. I know stock they go for around $1400. This guy has all new guts, trigger, ignition system, safety etc. And some kind of aluminum 'grip', (or what I consider the frame-lol) And its cerakoated black. Not really my thing, but he says it worth $1750. The bike I'm selling is $1700 He says it was gunsmith built. Just wondering whats the consensus about his price?
  9. I've had 4 Harleys since 2000 Every one was black 2 had a good bit of chrome But the last 2, I'm liking the blacked out look
  10. LOL I was never great in math
  11. LOl think about it Last EVO was 1999? I know some Twin-cams came out then. That was 35 years ago
  12. This is kinda what I meant. Lets say a house is assessed at $50,000, and you pay $1000/yr in taxes If the assessment goes up to $100,000, it doesnt mean you will pay $2000/yr
  13. A tax 'assessment' going up doesnt mean that our taxes will go up. Hopefully the tax 'rate' will go down. But thats in a perfect world-lol. My house assessment just went up something like 40%. But I really dont expect the tax bill to go up that much. Though I'm sure it will go up a bit.
  14. What do you want it for? Home defense? Hunting? If so, hunting what? Skeet or trap shooting? All this matters to find the right gun, many choices out there.
  15. Low tennis shoes dont support your ankle, if you are actually doing some real hiking you want boots high enough to support and protect your ankle while walking up and down steep, rocky trails. I'd hate to twist my ankle and have to walk several miles (or farther) back to the car. You also want to wear the boots around your house a few times to break them in. My every day shoe is a Hi-tec Altitude boot, I wear those hiking also.
  16. I have a pair of Hi-tec ultralight boots that are great for day hikes, I can really notice the light weight. They are probably 10 yrs old and still look and feel great. But I dont hike a lot-lol, couple times a year. If I was doing a multi-day hike I'd do a little research before buying a pair.
  17. Dont know where in E TN you are, but I can recommend "The Gunsmith" in Greeneville.

    Trigger

I bought a new Smith 37 Nickel Airweight back in the 80's. The trigger was awful, but it was also doing this weird thing which I forget what it was. I sent it back, and not only did it come back to me with a super smooth trigger pull but they gave it a high polish also. Still have it.
  19. I put that #### on everything-lol
  20. I eat bugs frequently when I ride my motorcycle-lol.
  21. If you are comfortable with your Walther 22, you can try a Walther PPK/S in 380 EDIT- I see you have a Walther P22, I was thinking PPK 22, so,never mind-lol. Actually a Walther PPS might be another gun to look at. I dont know this for sure, but since Smith and Wesson bought Walther, I heard that gun is very similar to a Shield. As far as belts and holsters I agree 100% you need something good. For smaller guns like my Kahr or 365 I use a Kore ratcheting belt (not even their gun belt) and a Crossbreed Mini-Tuck IWB. And I always buy the horsehide, not the cowhide. They say its better for sweat, but I have found because its about half the thickness, its more comfortable. My 2nd choice is an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck. A little more bulky, takes a bit more time to put on, but very comfortable because of the padding.
  22. As far as a dealership goes, I went to one in Bristol to test drive a car. I liked it, but they played the usual money games. Sticker was higher than the online ad, their offer for my trade in was ridiculous, etc. So I searched online for the same car. Found one in Knoxville, but they said it was incoming and still on a ship. I figured that was a line of BS, but sure enough it came in when they said it would. When I drove there with my trade in, they gave me a really fair amount for it. The entire transaction had no pressure, even the money guy that tried to sell me an extended warranty, and the paint protection etc. When I said no, he said OK, but that he had to try-lol. Overall the experience was one of the best car buying experiences I ever had. So a shout out to Harper VW in Knoxville
  23. I kinda like this idea. Obviously you wont get rich, but maybe something for a retired guy to keep busy and make a few bucks? Maybe do a few at the same time to make it worth it. And yea, JC to Memphis would be a bummer. My concern is: would you as the delivery guy be responsible for making sure the buyer, and/or seller is legal? On the one hand, its legal for the seller or buyer to make the trip. Too bad laws and politics will be involved with this.
  24. Evo was a good motor The twin cams were good also, and not every year had the cam chain issue. My "02 didnt, so maybe it was the later years? Plus, most of mine were fuel injected, but never had a issue with the FI system. In 2017 I sold a '10 Ultra Classic that I put 72,000 on and it still ran great. Never had anything but maybe 2 minor issues. My '02 Deuce went 40,000 without any issues at all. Bought a used bike this time instead of new ('12 Road Glide Ultra) and I let the other guy take the hit in cash-lol My point is I'm a fan of the twin cams
  25. To me, all those places like Carvana charge too damn much. I agree about 'tire kicking', I wanna see it in person. Last year I was in the market for a 'newer' used car that was good on gas and I could drive that around for errands instead of my Silverado. What I found was that used car prices are crazy high, and they only warranty them for a month or 2 at best. For not much more money I bought a new car, have a 36000 mi warranty, and a lifetime drivetrain warranty (to the original owner). Works for me since I keep a vehicle a long time. My Silverado is an '01-lol
