Gun Rack in back window of a truck
Tom B replied to vontar's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I remember having a gun rack in my truck back in the day. But thats before we had extended cabs and double cabs and crew cabs. With 2 people (or even 3 with a bench seat) in the truck there wasnt room for much else-lol. -
My Sp-01 is as heavy as a boat anchor-lol. I dont see how that could be carried concealed comfortably.
-
My wife carries a Smith 8 shot 22 revolver model 317. Super light, and super simple to operate. She has a concealed carry pocketbook she uses.
-
I too am concerned my wife wouldnt be able to clear a jam. So she carries a Smith 317 8 shot 22 revolver. I know, I know folks will say its only a 22. Its almost all aluminum and weighs nothing. 3" barrel, and I put some smooth wood grips on it so it doesnt snag. But she feels comfortable carrying it. And who am I to argue with her-lol

Only read the last page so dont know if it was mentioned, but i saw the 'Fall Guy' last night and it wasnt bad. At the end, Lee Majors and Heather Thomas had cameos and he looked better than her-lol -
I know this is a whole other discussion, but for a SHTF situation I dont think I'd want a semiauto. Youre screwed if you lose the mag Revolver for handgun, maybe a lever for a rifle. My opinion only.

Havent seen it mentioned, but I really like my FN 502

I'm not the best shot around, but I shoot a lot of guns in my backyard range. Almost always offhand. The gun that shot the best groups for me ever was a Canik TP9SFX

This is me exactly. I got on a fire dept in CT late in life at age 31, but since I had several jobs before that that I hated, having a job that I enjoyed made me happy. If you've ever had a job you hated, it affects you even when you are not at work. -

I seal driveways once in a while, just for some spending money. I can stay busier if I want, but at this point I'm picky about the ones I do. I like to ask the homeowners how they came to pick me to do the job, seeing as how others in the area do it also, and usually the answer I get is, "You showed up". -
Its a moot point since he already bought another bike-lol. Spots- I already have that gun.

I have learned a bit about these guns just googling. I thought the frame was polymer, but apparently its a steel frame with a polymer grip. And that is what was replaced with an aluminum one. I also learned that grip module is over $500. I'd obviously want to know who the gunsmith was, and shoot the gun before making a deal. Though it looks like the parts alone might be worth it. I'm assuming he has all the old parts also.
-
The likely scenario is that I will shoot that gun a few times, then sell it. Im hoping it will sell faster than the bike. Here is the info about the mods It has a PT Hero Aluminum Grip, Atlas perfect match ignition kit, SVI disconnector, Atlas Medium Trigger pulling at 3.0, SVI Ambi Safety, Fresh Cerakote, 2-17rnd, 1-20rnd extended, 1-18rnd Atlas TTI base.

Someone wants to trade me a customized Prodigy. I know stock they go for around $1400. This guy has all new guts, trigger, ignition system, safety etc. And some kind of aluminum 'grip', (or what I consider the frame-lol) And its cerakoated black. Not really my thing, but he says it worth $1750. The bike I'm selling is $1700 He says it was gunsmith built. Just wondering whats the consensus about his price?

This is kinda what I meant. Lets say a house is assessed at $50,000, and you pay $1000/yr in taxes If the assessment goes up to $100,000, it doesnt mean you will pay $2000/yr -

A tax 'assessment' going up doesnt mean that our taxes will go up. Hopefully the tax 'rate' will go down. But thats in a perfect world-lol. My house assessment just went up something like 40%. But I really dont expect the tax bill to go up that much. Though I'm sure it will go up a bit. -
What do you want it for? Home defense? Hunting? If so, hunting what? Skeet or trap shooting? All this matters to find the right gun, many choices out there.

Low tennis shoes dont support your ankle, if you are actually doing some real hiking you want boots high enough to support and protect your ankle while walking up and down steep, rocky trails. I'd hate to twist my ankle and have to walk several miles (or farther) back to the car. You also want to wear the boots around your house a few times to break them in. My every day shoe is a Hi-tec Altitude boot, I wear those hiking also.

I have a pair of Hi-tec ultralight boots that are great for day hikes, I can really notice the light weight. They are probably 10 yrs old and still look and feel great. But I dont hike a lot-lol, couple times a year. If I was doing a multi-day hike I'd do a little research before buying a pair.
