ATF has been caught breaking this law repeatedly as well.

How many millions of dollars is spent performing the background checks today? Not just on the make work for government employees, but also on wasted time and added expense on the private sector... It's a lot more than 10 million a year, probably close to 100 million a year... All of that to arrest and convict 44 people last year? That doesn't seem like a good return on investment to me.

Knoxville Gun Control Activists Rally, Ch 10 News Story
JayC replied to runco's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yes my point was, not even 92% of the population believes we landed a man on the moon... To think that 92% of the population of this country agrees on anything is just unfathomable... Almost every poll has 5-10% that are 'not sure', so they're saying that only 3% of the population feels we need less gun control? That math just doesn't add up. Probably should have been more clear in my wording ;) -

Bill Oreilly arguing for registration
JayC replied to superduty's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He writes really good fiction maybe... Tries to make out the worse President in the history of this country as some kind of saint... Lincoln was an evil despot, and tyrant who trashed the Constitution. And created all of the 'back doors' that allowed future Presidents to continue to violate our given rights. -
State suspends gun carry permit for James Yeager
JayC replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
My understanding and it could be incorrect that upon suspension you can 'request a hearing' with an administrative law judge who works for TDOS, within 30 days, and then you can appeal it's final ruling in general sessions court. Or you can just pass go and head straight for general sessions court and petition for judicial review. Kwik, filed an a request for a hearing with TDOS under 39-17-1352c1e and then didn't show. He never filed a petition with the court under 39-17-1352d. If not where did I get it wrong? -

I don't think Yeager went the TDOS appeal process either did he? I think he filed in court for a hearing on the matter much like he who shall not be named :) Frankly, if my permit was suspended, I'm not sure I'd go the TDOS appeals process either... taking it to court might very well be the quickest and best way to get a positive outcome. Although probably more expensive. At the end of the day, TDOS needs to lose their ability to subjectively suspend permits, period. And whoever signed off on this, needs to be fired and charged with violating Yeager's rights under the color of law. -
State suspends gun carry permit for James Yeager
JayC replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He was involuntarily committed to a mental health facility, in which case TDOS had no discretion in the matter, by law they are required to suspend his permit. Unlike the Yeager case which was 100% discretion. We need to make changes to the law to prevent ex parte commitments to count against gun rights. -

What credible threat? Clearly TDOS loss that point in court... Nobody on this forum has made the argument that he made a direct threat or really posed a serious threat to the public. I'm personally not a Yeager fan, but it's clear TDOS over reached, yet nobody has to pay for that overreach. I know nobody wants to hold "public servants" accountable on here... but we should. And in cases like this that accountability should be steep. -

Kwik was a complete idiot in regards to the legal system, and didn't challenge the suspension on the grounds he wasn't a threat, but on the grounds that certain parts of the permit law were unconstitutional. A smart person/lawyer would have at the very least challenged it on both :) -

Confused about the new bill being introduced in the US Senate
JayC replied to Chas.'s topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
And there would be a vote the next day in the house to remove Boehner as speaker. This is a bill that he must have a majority of the majority on, or he'd lose his speakership the very next day. -

The real issue is, whomever approved this at TDOS needs to loose their job. -
The TN legislature has been violating our state constitution for years and taxing both the sale of firearms, and ammo. You'll note in the speeches by the gun grabbers in Chicago, they note our laws in TN as the inspiration of their law. Maybe, instead of trying to pass legislation to restrict property rights, we should be pushing the legislature to repeal these constitutional laws?
-
One slight area of disagreement... Rights come from our humanity, and endowed by our creator, they predate the Constitution and both the federal and state governments. Nobody can revoke these inalienable rights, they can only violate those rights. Our rights aren't granted to us by a document, or by other men, they are ours from the second we're born until the second we die, and any infringement of those rights is tyranny whether by passing a "law" or "interpreting" what the constitution says. I know it's splitting hairs, but it's a critical difference.

Interesting article from the Tennessean

Or better yet, have the HCP cover NICS checks, and completely do away with the make work TICS program that just happens to violate the TN Constitution :) -

Sen. Graham Says Gun Bill "Going Nowhere"

Lee-UT, Chaffetz-UT, Amash-MI, Duncan-SC, Jones-NC, Huelskamp-KS, McClintok-CA to name a few who aren't too bad :) You'll notice the lack of anybody from TN on that list :( -

6.8, We agree on a lot of stuff, but can you name 2 conservative ideas he's championed in the last 4 years? Otherwise I call BS, he's a RINO of the first order along with his running buddies McCain and Lieberman. -
I agree, call 911 right away, just keep the dialog to a minimum on the phone... You were attacked, and where you're at, etc... The best advice I've heard is to communicate details that need to be collected or documented right away... That they had a gun, where the gun is, who the eye witnesses are, if anybody got away or ran off... etc... And then request that the officer give you time to compose yourself before making a formal statement. I doubt many officers are going to hold it against you to ask for a few minutes to compose yourself before giving a statement... the fact is that is what they'd do in a self defense shooting as well.

Just remember there are more ways to deliver bombs (including nukes) than flying or launching rockets. How many tunnels have they found into SK? The question is how many haven't they found? Also the capitol city of SK is within Arty range of the North... The fact is we don't want to go to war against the North unless we have to, it will seriously damage SK and Japan's economies, best case.

He shot 154+ rounds with that Bushmaster, yeh, right...
JayC replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm not sure what "video game" even simulates this type of activity correctly... None of the console games I've ever seem do, I'm aware of only a single fairly high end simulator type "game" that provides this functionality... the engine is used by the USMC and a number of military units all over the world to provide scripted training... the 'game' is also sold to civilians under a different name but isn't very popular. Maybe somebody will correct me, but I doubt he picked up this 'habit' while playing Call of Duty on his Xbox. -
F-Troop strikes again.... surprise surprise.

That is a good habit that he must have picked up from somewhere.... He's reloading the partially used mags for full mags during lulls in the fight to make sure the next 'contact' he had was with a full magazine. It's a pretty standard tactic that is taught to our military in CQB environments and I'm sure most civilian and police CQB training also includes it... most people would refer to this as a 'tactical reload'. In this case he used a good habit for bad things. -
You must get a TN permit within 6 months of becoming a TN resident. Technically speaking it could be good for somebody who just moved here from another state while they wait for their TN permit. But, my guess is that is a small number of people.
