  1. I'm pretty sure in TN they can not demand to see your drivers license even if you're driving unless they have probable cause you've violated the law.  I believe there maybe an exception for State Troopers, but generally you're not required to provide ID at check points.
  2. CT law only allows a police officer to demand to see a permit when he has RAS the law is being broken.   While not a high standard it is significantly higher than TN, which has to check on the request to display a permit.
  3. If the officers felt they were in the right, why didn't they arrest the guy?  My guess is they knew they had no lawful reason to arrest the guy, and just got upset he questions their unlawful demands.
  4. Show me your papers please...  I seem to recall we fought a cold war against an 'evil empire' in my youth because their citizens weren't free, and required to show their papers on demand without cause.   I'm sorry, but we're turning into our own worse enemy...  What the cops did in this video is wrong, they had no reason to believe this guy posed a threat to anybody, and knew he wasn't breaking the law.  They tried to cause problems because he refuse a request, not a lawful order.   If they really thought he was a threat to the public, or was breaking the law, why not arrest him immediately?  My point exactly.
  5. And exactly how many of them vote for republicans?  Republican legislators need to worry about their voters, not people who would never vote for them.
  6. Doom and gloom motivates voters better than asking them to get out and vote.
  7. Property records filed with the county clerk show the property is owned by a Metro agency.  The may lease it to the Predators, but the government still owns it, which is all that matters under 39-17-1311 - if it's covered under part 39-17-1311.
  8. The only choice is to mark yes, then take F Troop to court claiming they can't have it both ways, they can't require you to get an FFL because you're only selling at Gun Shows and then refuse your application for an FFL because you're only selling at gun shows.
  9. If there is proof of a 'conspiracy' to violate the law and the rights of citizens, then all involved should be charged criminally if possible.  If not they should be personally liable for all costs related to this.   If these guys can't be charged under state law, we need to press the legislature to add criminal penalties to violating part 39-17-13xx.     We can get charged with a felony for mistakenly walking onto school property, or mistakenly getting too close to a school soccer game in a public park, but government officials can conspiracy to deny us rights granted under the state constitution and not face criminal charges is obscene.
  10. I'm willing to bet there are entry points in that building not properly posted.  But Dave is right they'll likely start tacking on charges if he tries to fight the charge...  Hopefully the DA will agree to drop charges if he agrees not to fight the termination.
  11. Seems to me, that you can still sell 100's of guns a year, not need an FFL, as long as all the purchases are to 'improve you personal collection of firearms'....  I really don't think this changes anything...     1. Don't get business cards that say you're a gun dealer if you don't have an FFL :) 2. Don't take credit cards, cash is king - because the ATF wants to encourage you not to have any method to trace somebody who bought a firearm from you ;) 3. Don't sell guns to make money to live off of without an FFL 4. If you want to sell a firearm online make sure to add to the post why you're changing your personal collection, how you did or didn't like the gun, how you need the money for some other gun you really want to buy, or how you want to improve your collection ;) 5. Finally, if you go down to the local gun store and buy 10 Glock 19's and try to sell them for a profit, you're probably a gun dealer and need to get an FFL - duhhh
  12. Nope all your transactions will be documented for 20 years where you store your records, then you're allowed to destroy them.  As long as you don't retire your FFL you don't turn those records over to the ATF.
  13. I'd vote for a Serpa, with a little training, it's a perfectly safe holster and it's easy to use and works well.
  14. If the TFA would stop trying to violate property and contract rights by making HCP a 'protected class' then I might be a member still ;(
  15.   Depending on who you talk to 60 to 80% of denials are false positives.  TICS is even worse with some years having nearly a 90% false positive rate.   The background check system costs upwards of 20 million per conviction.  That doesn't count the money needed to try the case, only the money it costs the economy per conviction every year.   20 million dollars per person convicted of violating the background check process?!?!?
  16. ATF is going to cause themselves more headaches...  Can't wait for somebody who is considered 'in the business' of selling firearms because of the EO, being turned down for an FFL because they don't meet the ATF 'business' requirements.   All sorts of fun court cases coming down the time from this stupidity.
  17. Option B which I hate to bring up...  Pay the $100 and get a VA non-resident permit.  It appears as if you can do it completely online.
  18. Simple solution is for the VA legislature to change the law, to allow all permits to be considered valid like we did here in TN...  Just one small problem, the Governor is a democrat who is in office until 2018...  and unlike TN where a simple majority can override the veto of the Governor, you need a 2/3rds majority to override the veto (or line item veto) in VA.   Just so happens the VA House they have exactly 67% of the vote, so they can override a veto...  but they only hold 21 out of 40 seats in the VA Senate, they'd need 6 Democrats override the Governors expected veto, it would be a hard bill to get passed.   Looks like we're stuck open carrying or getting an out of state permit in VA for a little over 2 years at the earliest.  Unless the Republicans in the VA senate pick up 6 seats in Nov of 2016.
  19. NICS doesn't receive the model or s/n of the firearm so without the matching 4473 it does them no good.
  20. We should push to have all heads of law enforcement departments to be elected officials.
  21. Sorry it took me so long to respond...   The TN constitution only grants the legislature the power to regulate the wearing of firearms to prevent crime:     TICS regulates the purchasing of firearms, which is clearly not under the powers granted to the legislature by the TN state constitution.   While NICS may (and I don't agree) be constitutional under the federal Constitution, TICS clearly is an unconstitutional tax under our state constitution...  If we did away with TICS, like many other states we'd revert to the NICS system which is free.
  22. If the left is scared of ISIS, let them ban all firearms, and see how they like what happens next...  Only problem is it would make something Obama said true, it would make ISIS look like the JV squad.
  23. Hmm  which is a better use of their limited budget...  1. providing free permit courses to students so they can help protect themselves and their classmates...  or 2. wasting the money on overtime chasing down underage drinking and pot users?   I know which I'd rather my police department 'waste' my money on.
  24. Background checks on ammo would require a change in the law, since they repealed logging requirements on ammo sales back in the '80's.   Trying to define how many sales a year before you're 'in the business' of selling guns is likely what they'll try and do...  that will result in a lot of court cases that Obama won't win unless he sets the number way too high to have any impact what so ever.  The law (while unconstitutional) is very clear, personal transfers aren't supposed to require background checks.
  25. I switch to 9mm more than 10 years ago, for the exact same reason, my wife was more comfortable with 9mm than 45 or 40.  I'm happy with the change, only have to stock a single type of pistol ammo, and all the magazines are compatible with each other in my case...
