lowbud replied to Will Carry's topic in Handguns
The last I got was from midsouth shooters supply. Right now they have federal hydra shok in stock as well as american eagle both at pretty good prices.. Midsouth FEDERAL AMMUNITION 380 AUTO 90GR HYDRA-SHOCK JACKETED HOLLOW POINT 20RDS -

You and everyone else accept walmart. I guess people think since walmart doesn't have it or it's not $13 a box of 50.. there's a shortage. I have always been able to find .380 ammo. -

I just ordered a Kahr .380 should be here in a few days. I don't care about the ammo availibility becasue it's not somehting I shoot often. I have 380's so I can carry no matter what I'm wearing. If you want a pistol for the range or plinking the 380 is not something you want. If you want something you can hide no matter what you wear... then you probably won't find anything smaller or easier to hide.. unless you go with a smaller caliber. I go through maybe 200 rounds per year of .380 so the cost doesn't bother me. If it went up to $50 a box I would still buy it.... I have been able to find .380 FMJ as well as JHP any time I needed it. It may not be at the local stores or under $20 a box but it was available.. -
I had one last year. I shot about 200 rounds through it and sold it becasue of the moon clips. As stated above they are weak and don't always hold the rounds in place. I also had problems with extraction. The rounds would stick in the chamber and you would have to pry them out. I haven't seen a rimless revolver yet that I liked. Charter was suppose to release some new designs without moon clips but I haven't head anything about them in over a year and all information regarding them on the website has gone away.. They probably scrapped the idea...

Looks like I may need that number. I can't get anyone around here to do anything....

The EMP is out of most everyones price range. lol.. Sweet gun altho not a pocket pistol. PF9's can be hard to come by. Good luck in your search. i'm sure you'll come up with something.

Here is a nice pocket pistol chart. http://www.mouseguns.com/PocketAutoComparison.pdf Stay away from the DiamondBack right now. it's got some serious issues.

These are seriously under-rated and top notch weapons. However, being pocket sized i'm not so sure of. Best thing to do is hit a gun show wearing your normal attire and see what fits.. then you can come back here with "the list" and get some feedback.

Well. Like I said.. They are not range guns.. But they are not thro away either. keltec has a great warranty dept. No idea on the TCP. They are pretty new and it will take time to see how they are holding up. It's pretty common with mouse guns to run about 150 rounds through them to make sure their reliable then only fire them every once in a while to make sure they still work.. I would dare say after that first 150 or so rounds most people only fire one or two mags per year out of them. They are designed for personal protection and not target practice. especially with the high cost of ammo. To be totally honest.. you are vary limited with the budget you have set. The PF9 is a good option as stated above however from your description of being petite and something pocket sized... I'm afraid you'll not find anything other then someone in a .380 If you don't want a keltec.. in my opinion the only option for you at the present time is the Ruger LCP.
-
I don't know who told you that keltec's aren't reliable past 500 rounds. I had a P32 with well over 1000. (this was before ammo prices went nutz) besides.. how much do you plan to shoot it? mouse guns aren't range guns and aren't meant to withstand regular range time. If you want lightest, smallest, you are looking at 3 options in my opinion. 1. P3AT 2. LCP 3. TCP 738 These are all .380's. 9mm's will be larger and heavier. The only other option I see would be a keltec PF9 or Taurus slim PT709. While there are many other calibers and models most will be over $400. Hope this helps..

light reliable and powerful describes the 642 to a T.... Price is about right tho should you decide to go that route.

I think they should remove the root of the problem. Cut it off or sew it up. Problem solved! -

Kahr makes a fine pistol. i think I've had them all at one time or another and I still have 3. I traded my PM9 last year for something else I wanted and I was sorry i did.. been on the look-out for another ever since..

I have a 96 GTX that needs drive seals put in. maybe even a new wear ring. Anyone know a good PWC mechanic?

It's a coin toss between the XD and M&P. I have had them both and really didn't like one more over the other. best thing would be to rent or borrow both to shoot and pick the one that fits you better. guns are not one size fits all. best possible thing to do is test drive them first. however, sometimes that's just not possible.. Good luck!

Interesting.. So I wonder how people who have been acquitted of murder been sued for wrongful death. For example, OJ.. Seems to me any case will go to court if someone is willing to persue it. Maybe not.. I have no idea.. Don't want to find out either...
