  1. I have a FNP-45. By far the better of any polymer pistols I've owned besides my Glock 19. Based on the performance of the 45 model I wouldn't doubt the 9 and 40 model would be a good bet.
  2. It was $101 shipped from AIM and my FFL transfer was $25 plus $10 TICS. So $136 was the damage. And to think a $30 C&R could get it shipped to my door but I'm too lazy to fill out the paperwork.
  3. No. $89 was AIM Surplus' regular price for hex recievers.
  4. I got my Bushmaster 6.8SPC rebarrelled by Bison Armory. It didn't take more than 2 weeks including shipping times to Washington. They also do custom uppers and thier barrels are 416 stainless steel. No need to wait for the cookie cutter manufacturers to ship overpriced uppers when you can build (or custom build) one with the correct specs (SPCII chamber and 4 groove 11:1 twist barrel). I like the 6.8 over 5.56 for many reasons. One being the better performance from 16" or less barrels (why the 6.8 was developed) than the 5.56.
  5. I'd say it was issued but rarely shot. The stock had some knicks in it and the bore was still dark and not pitted. I'd say VG condition. Compared to recent gun shows it was a steal @ $89 from AIM. Refinished the stock. Though I am regretting it b/c the shellac Arsenal finish would have probably held up better in bad weather conditions. Oh well.....
  6. We would have done better if the rear sight had a better way of adjusting windage. It's pretty much shoot, drift and shoot again. The Tech sights make it 100% better. We had a few FTE and it slowed us down some. I only needed 2 magazines (brought 4). The Appleseed shoot was informative. My only gripe was the qualification target kinda screwed me up 'cause ALL the targets are smaller 100m ones and not the 100-300m targets like I trained on in the Army. (All prone targets, not torso shillouetts). Overall it was a good teaching system. Learning to shoot with a sling, proper body positioning, fundamentals of marksmanship and explination of MOA and sight adjustment are all covered. I just wish there was more than 1 experienced instructors there. There were 2 trainees there and had valuable knowledge to pass on, but more seasoned indtructors would have been more effective. They teach more on shooting traditional rifles. I was using a .22lr Ar15 and another guy had a Polish AK74, there wasn't much direct help for us. I didn't get rifleman. Only 4 out of 30 did and they all had scopes.
  7. I'll be the first to say . Showed up around 0930. Everything is still way overpriced even compared to pre election standards. There were many Garands from $1000 to over $1500, 1 Polytech M-14 for $999 and no Mosin Nagants for under $115 (even used). I went mainly looking for a M44 MN or an AR15 upper. (only 3 uppers in the whole place) I did get some dessicant 5/$20 and a M7/M8A1 bayo/scabbard for $27 that I'll be reparkerizing. Was it worth the hour drive? Maybe if mobile.Gunbroker.com and the internet didn't exist. Unless the dealers ACTUALLY WANT you to talk them down. A few gems that stood out was the $199 Colt M-16 BCG (Bolt was stamped but the carrier staking was early CCMG/DPMS at best, the $1799 Daniel Defense/Omega rail carbine and the 10 MN stripper clips for $25. I'm sure somebody else had a better experience today....
  8. I did shoot it today (t-shirt). Only 20 rounds though. Had to sight in 3 rifles today and the wife was getting impatient. (Marlin 795 w/ new Tech Sights and my TacSol .22 upper AGAIN) Love the Mojo sights. Only the rear though. I couldn't forsee me adapting to the front sight easily. BTW.... That Remongton 700 in .270 I had and my 12 gauge seemed to kick harder than this MN. I luv shooting this rifle.:love:
  9. thanks guys. I installed the MOJO sights and 90% detail stripped it and the bolt to get the last of the cosmoline out. I opened one of the ammo tins (a workout in itself) and prepped it for the range tommorow morning. I'm going to cowboy up and shoot it w/o the rubber butt pad a couple of times. If the Russians can do it, So can I. (w/ a jacket on. I don't think they did much training in t-shirts and shorts in the former Soviet Union.
  10. Izhevsk Hex receiver w/ 880 rounds of 148gr Bulgarian Light Ball FMJ ammo.
  11. Because an $89 rifle cost me $136.30 after shipping, transfer and TICS. But in the end it was worth it.
  12. Marlin 795. magazine fed .22lr like the Marlin 60 w/o the tube. Uses common Marlin .22lr magazines (I forget which part number but I took the one that came with it and compared it to the ones @ Gander Mountian and they are an exact match). They don't drop free though. Dick's (in Jackson, anyway) has them on sale for $99. Get the Tech Sights. My son and I used it @ the Puryear Appleseed last weekend and they (stock sights) are hard to zero.
  13. S&W M&P15A with VTAC sling and TA50R4 ACOG.
  14. Here's my entry. 115gr Tennessee Cartridge reloads. I did alot better with the cheap stuff than I did with the box of Black Hills 124gr I bought for this shoot. I got to get out to the range more than once a month.
  15. 2 weeks IIRC. S&W M&P 40c. Hated it.
  16. Are there any 200 yard or more public ranges near Jackson, Memphis, East Arkansas, North Mississippi etc? Looking to do some long range shooting. Thanks
  17. I have the FNP-45 and it is by far the best polymer DA/SA handgun I've shot. Even better than my friend's Sig 220 and M&P40.
  18. Believe it or not, my wife's Bersa T380.
  19. After a couple of tries it becomes easy as pie. I've changed every spring, changed the magazine catch, slide stop, polished the trigger, added night sights, and everything but stiple the frame myself. This helped me a lot. The $0.25 Glock trigger job
  20. Barrel Break-In Take it for what it is worth.....
  21. She shot about 60 rounds of .357 and .38spl and 30 rounds of 9mm after we bought it today. After I coached her on not trying to wrestle the guns trying to compensate for recoil, she said in wasn't that bad and she could manage.
  22. Well there was the: 1.) Bersa T380: liked it. made it 3 years before I determined it was in fact the unreliable POS I thought it was before I bought it. (slide stop broke and some FTE's last week) 2.) Taurus 66: Too big, recoil. 3.) Ruger SP101: Couldn't pull trigger back enough to fire. 4.) Springfield XD-9: recoil 5.) Glock 19: recoil (now mine:D:D:D) 6.) S&W 386 Night Guard in 357Mag. (trigger is a little heavy for her but she says she'll adapt) Army Veteran HOOOAH!!!
  23. IMO The SCAR isn't worth it for civilians other than the coolness factor. What I don't get is all the new .mil battle rifles that come out now are all designed around the weakest link on current rifles: the G.I. magazine. I would like to see a new magazine design, fewer and thicker bolt locking lugs, different bolt design w/o cam hole and better self lubing finishes on contact and moving parts. (like teflon) Wow. My 8 y/o son shoots more than 2000 rounds a year. Mostly .22lr, 9mm and when he does really good some 6.8SPC and 5.56.
  24. Thats how I found it also when I rented one at the range which is odd realizing how much I like to shoot 10mm and 357sig.
  25. I am the Engineer and they are 1400 hp 8 cylinder Emd's. It's a small tow boat which I don't mind at all coming from 8000 hp and up OSV's.
