The GOP has been socialist for a long time Teddy Roosevelt was one of the most outspoken progressives (socialist) in the nations history. Hoover and Ike pushed through a kinds of socialist laws. Ike was a "Christian socialist" ie a socialist that still believes in God. So he instituted big government programs and stamped something about God on them. And Nixon was not much better. Nixon started the socialist price controls that Carter put on steroids. Right now we are moving from a Coolidge (Bush II) socalist government to a Hoover (Obama) Socalist governmemt.

Isn't he the guy that said basically that the GOP could go F' themselves?

Ayers is just one among many terrorist supporters of Obama. Hamas and Hezbollah through in their support last spring. Gaddafi has bee raising money for Obama and says "the man from Kenya will be president of the United States" Other terrorist leaders have also voiced their support but the press just seems to ignore it. Who would have thought that we would be electing someone who has the support of the people who celebrated the 9/11/01 attacks.

I disagree that the air waves belong to everyone. The air waves belong to the people who have invested in the equipment to broadcast over those air waves without government assistance. They should be able to freely broadcast whatever they want so long as they are not shouting the sky is falling to cause a panic. (We will leave that to the environmentalist.) If people will pay to hear a message then that message should be broadcast. What makes the left mad is that no one wants to pay to hear their broadcast so they want to force people to listen or if the people wont listen then they don;t want anyone to be able to broadcast.

I don't get it why would we want to go somewhere that has already implemented (and failed but continue to follow) policies Obama is wanting to implement... If we get national health care where will the Canadians go for health care?

The market determines what gets heard currently. That is why right wing talk radio is doing so well, because it makes and profit. And why Air America failed, even after getting free air time in many markets no one wanted to listen. The reason the Networks can be so biased is that people will watch the shows that pay for their ability to broadcast the news whether they ever watch the news or not. With the Fairness Doctrine we get no opinion on the radio for fear of government prosecution. Without the fairness doctrine we get what the people have paid to listen due to the number of listeners to a particular program.

The real problem with socialism is that it requires the individual to give up his/hers rights in favor of the collective solution. It started out small in this country with "protective" tariffs to keep less expensive goods out to favor national products, then went to subsidies to industries and farms, then to a national bank (see Federal Reserve), then to social causes that the Church used to handle, then to out right wealth redistribution in the New Deal and Great Society. Each of these things required that individuals, cities and states give up powers left them by the constitution. Socialism requires that the citizens belong to the country and the country can do with its citizens whatever it wants. We have been headed down this slippery slop since the 1800's and neither political party wants to give up the power socialism has given them. On, the plus side capitalism is always there, it is the only rational means of trade. Capitalism requires free people to participate in free exchange. You ask how can capitalism exist inside a socialist nation? The black market is the last refugee of capitalism, and it is where everyone goes to when the country controls the legal economy. We still have partial capitalism in this country but the call for price controls and tariffs make me believe that we may not be too far from black markets for many goods and services.
