  1. I've found that double and triple sealing the opening helps too.
  2. I've been there several times over the years. It isn't fancy, but it works. They have a 100 yd rifle range and a 50 yd pistol range. Both share the same backstop, so no one needs to shoot pistols while someone is shooting rifles. The rifle bench is 50 yds behind and to the right of the pistol range. Both are covered. I'm don't know of anything closer to Memphis.

    Jackson TN?

I've lived in Jackson for over 20 years now. The description above is fair. Public schools are a problem. Most people do one of two things: 1) send their kids to a private school, or 2) they move to Medina. Medina is just across the Gibson/Madison county line and has excellent public schools. For parents working in Jackson, it is only a 15 minute drive. Jackson did see a huge growth spurt in the 90's. Lot's of residential and commercial development. We have a ton of restaurants, mostly chains but a good selection. We also have a big medical community. I think the healthcare here is good. We also have a branch of the University of Memphis that offers 4 years degrees. I have raised my family here and I'm pleased with the results. Let me know if you have more questions, I'll be glad to try and answer them.
  4. I recently heard a local state representative speak. The topic of conversation was the parking lot bill. He said that he was a supporter of the second amendment, a member of the NRA, he had an NRA hat that he wore and that he had a 9mm handgun "out in his truck". (It was obvious he had it for protection while he traveled on his job.) He did not say if he has his HCP or not, but I'll assume he does He then went on to say that the parking lot bill did not make sense, it would only lead to trouble, etc. and that he was going to vote against it. His words and actions were contradictory to say the least.
  5. I think it is about 70 miles (+/-) from Germantown to Hwy 45 Bypass in Jackson. From there it is another 20 minutes south to the range.
  6. Look at a Burris Fullfield II. Excellent quality and a fair price. I like Leupold and Nikon too, but Burris is my favorite.
  7. I had the same problem, use a live trap with peanut butter and crackers as bait After you catch them, take them out somewhere far way from your house and release them. If you want a more permanent solution, put rat poison on the peanut butter and not use the trap. The problem here is, they may decide to crawl down inside a wall and die. Trust me, that is not good! Then patch the hole and cut back any branches that can be used by squirrels to get to your house.
  8. Tennessee Sports Foundation in Jackson...not quite as far as Natchez Trace. $75 /year

    I-Phone vs Droid

Based on my experience, I think you will be satisfied with either phone. I'm somewhat of a techie and prefer the Droid. (mostly because i haven't taken the time to learn Apple's way of doing things) My wife who does not have a technical bone in her body started showing some interest in the iPhone and loves it. My oldest daughter who (like most of us) grew up with the Windows operating system on PC's. When she went to college, the school gave her a Mac Book that has both the Apple OS and Windows on it. She is equally comfortable with both, but if she has a choice, she uses the Apple stuff. She also has an iPhone. My youngest is somewhat technically challenged (not as bad as my wife) and loves her iPhone too.

  12. Would I shoot 3 girls? It depends. If they weren't trying to kill me, no I wouldn't shoot them. If they were just trying to kill me a just little bit, I would just shoot them a little bit. If they were trying to kill me a lot, I would shoot them a lot.
  13. Thanks for everyone's input. You have given me many good ideas.
  14. This is way overdue, but I'm finally getting around to documenting my small but beloved collection of firearms. I have decided to make a nice form in MS Word (it was much easier than I thought) to keep up with info about each gun, purchase and value info, pictures, etc. I don't have an FFL or C&R license, so the only reason to keep up with it all is for insurance or in case of theft. Here are my questions: What stuff should I inventory? guns, ammo, accessories? What information should I track for each item? make, model, serial number, caliber? Also, I would like to hear how everyone else does this. Do you use paper, a database, spreadsheet? I plan on filling out the form in Word then printing each form and keeping them in a notebook.
  15. Robert, Tennessee is the right place for shootin' and eatin'! I hope you enjoy your visit. I don't want to hijack your tread, but I would like to ask the same question of you regarding Sweden. My oldest child is going to Europe for her fall semester of college. Being of Swedish decent (Dahlstrom), she would like to visit Sweden if possible. Where should she go and what should she do? Like I said, I don't want to hijack your thread, so feel free to respond by private message if you prefer. Thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to make that call. If anyone hears anything, please let me know.

    SigArms SHR970

I thought so too, but I do know Sig Arms stopped importing them and they were still available in Europe for a while. I hope they are still being produced and that the rumor is true. I want to get some more barrels for mine.
  21. Is anyone here familiar with the SigArms SHR970? I'm trying to confirm or deny a rumor that these rifles are being imported into the U.S. again.
  22. Just remember that while "over yonder" is a perfectly acceptable set of directions, the polite thing to do is to point in the general direction of "over yonder".
  23. I'll be there...I hope. Gotta cut up a tree first.
  24. In my opinion, the 452 is the best .22 you can get for the money. Good quality, very accurate and reliable. I even bought the 452 scout for my youngest daughter for her first rifle. I'm a big CZ fan. Here is a link to their rimfire page... CZ-USA -> Product Categories
